    Not much work after the greenhouse is set-up. Just sales and packaging.

    My backyard permaculture garden, both outdoors and indoors are all elevated waist height to make it comfortable and ergonomically healthy for me in my old age since I had designed them to be for old people, seniors, disabled people with all forms of disabilities and especially those on wheel chairs IN THE 1950s! when I was in my late 20s and early 30s for I was thinking about the next 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 years of my future.

    WOW! Fancy technology replacing jobs should be celebrated I say! This is awesome! Now all we need is a new economic structure that doesn't rely on humans having "jobs" to "earn a living" to get access to things. Think about it: Once a few hydroponic systems like this are set up in a given area, they could provide food for 1,000s of homes. Why charge money then? Well, in this current economic model I can see why of course: profit. But, what if instead of caring about profit in terms of money, we cared about profit in terms of feeding people and freeing them from their own jobs (which are likely being replaced by technology too)?

      haha, I can't quite tell how much sarcasm is laced within that. But anyway, if you're interested in those ideas, I recommend checking out an internet movie called *"Zeitgeist: Addendum"* here on youtube. Prepare to have your eyes stretched *wide* open, haha.

      GhostsonAcid LOL it's actually a Simpsons quote but the value still holds.
      I will review Zeitgeist: Addendum. It's funny really though. I always thought to myself (sharing your sentiments here) that we would we working towards not working and self sustainability.
      Don't get me wrong, I'd love an aston martin right about now, I believe classes/hierarchy is achieved based on past accomplishments or contributions to society. The current world model, based on sheer monetary economics, is bewildering, i don't see the point in an ALL for one, NONE for all model.
      I'll be back after Zeitgeist

      I agree, I always think about this idea. If the people do not have the money to purchase the vegetables, It won't be very profitable for the owners of the machines. I personally believe that this will be a very real scenario within the next fifty years, we are already seeing it with ATM's, online purchasing, auto manufacture, 3D printing, etc.. I think advances like this are fantastic, but in the future, a new system of economic governing will need to be used, or everything will breakdown. basically some kind of monthly food ration and housing credit with more emphasis on education in our spare time.

    The genetic make up of soil and hydroponic grown vegetables are identical, the nutritional content is very similar if not identical. The difference is that hydroponics provide more flexibility in regard to where and when plants are grown, and the speed at which they're grown.

    Hydroponics is a great system but it have some drawback, you have to buy some "plant food", nutrients and supplements that can be expensive. Before building any hydroponics system, you have to consider the benefit from aquaponics system, which can automate 95% of work.

    The beautiful thing about many hydroponic systems is the plants and open atmosphere naturally oxygenize the water. The plants then feed the fish, which then provide nutrients to it all.

    • @samkom33
      @samkom33 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      one crop??? with that setup your not getting just 1 crop. hehe...
      if you say planted 1 cirkle-row of lettuce a day,, you would get 365 crops a year

    • @webyourstuff1
      @webyourstuff1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Um. Did I mis word this? I meant you'd get only lettuce.

    • @samkom33
      @samkom33 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes,, of course if you only plant lettuce, you most likely get all lettuce. hehe..
      but there are many types of vegetables-lettuce that could be planted in this type of setup
      but near say a big city its not a bad thing to concentrate a greenhouse on 1 type of crop in each of such greenhouse...
      not all cind of vegetables is suitable for such a setup...
      for example tomatos and cucumber plants need a setup with supports for the weight, + they need longer time for each time they can be harvested. so it wouldnt be smart to move them around but can still benefit from the aquaphonics circulating water-nutrients

    • @danielrose1392

    • @samkom33
      @samkom33 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes but for a big farmer that have a big city-market nearby, it shouldnt be a problem to have lots of circles 1 for each type of vegetable

    Hydroponic farmed plants will never have the same level of nutrition as an organic soil grown plant. Also, because the plant is grown inside, it does not get the full spectrum of sunlight as an outdoor grown plant does. This also affects the nutrition level of the plant when eaten.

    Japan ... what can I say? Simply amazing. Initial setup probably cost an arm and a leg. BUT after that, easy peasy I myself, slightly concerned about the human job cutting. Then again. Why do the entrepreneurs always have to stress about creating jobs if Labour/Health Departments are out the nail you. Even whilst looking after staff. Then think about all the lazy, striking, shit stirring, always late, wanting to leave early, bonus, staff members. I'll settle for this any day.

      RelatedGiraffe cool comeback... (short answer) some of the roots stay above water level and have access to air... some have found success with standing water... as the plants drink the water level drops uniformly. The roots of the plants continue to grow and the ratio of roots, above water level - below water level, remain constant throughout..But this system seems to pump air into the water

    • @RelatedGiraffe
      @RelatedGiraffe 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @acevfx2923
      @acevfx2923 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      2 years late but here's my two cents on it. They chose for a dome in order to utilize the rays of the sun but still being able to control all other factors such as temperature and humidity inside the dome. An understandable decision but vertical farming would be much more beneficial I think, and I am also of the opinion that the 1 laborer in the center should be replaced by automation aswell. I mostly think that they chose this design because of budgeting, they still need to profit from this thing. But the engineer in all of us can't help but wonder how this design could be improved should cost effecfiveness and budget not play a factor. A self-sufficient and self sustaining design with high production rate is what I am aiming for in this case.
      Well for one thing, this thing needs to become fueled by aquaponics. Aquaponics would discard the need for nutrition to be added in to the water because it draws it's nutrients from the fishes. Not only that but the fish can be farmed and sold for extra profit and the organic waste that they create can be sold as fertilizer. Aquaponics also discards the need for any form of soil.
      Second of all, a very simple supply line and a robot in the center of the circle could replace the laborer. It's not at all an extensive task to program an arm to inject seeds in to cups filled with those little soil replacing balls, i forgot the name for them, and just have the cups go round and round. At the end another machine extracts the plant from the cup and returns it to the Starting point where it can be injected with seeds again.
      Lastly, they should go vertical with this design. It much more efficient and increases the output per square meter dramatically. The only problem that this creates is thd blockage of sunlight. But this can easily be counter with the help of UV lights. Plants also tend to grow much faster under uv light so the production output is again increased. All we need now is solar power to keep the system running.
