Thank you so much for this video! My mom thoroughly enjoyed the memories it brought her!! My grandfather owned a store in the 1930's on 26 Nichols Street called Laurin's Cash Market, and my mom lived upstairs on the third floor. He also owned the two apartment buildings on both sides. My mom was so excited to be able to point them out! As you drove up and down the neighborhood streets she saw where many of her childhood friends lived, her school and her church. Thank you for bringing her back to the days she rode down Nichols Street with their horse and buggy, (that they kept at a farm they owned in Otter River). She remembers one special memory of singing Christmas carols in the buggy with the bells ringing on the horses as they rode through the snow down the hill past her home and around Gardner. My grandfather also helped start up the GFA Bank in 1938 which you drove by on Parker Street. It was so exciting to see all this!!! This was an awesome video! Do you have a way we can donate to you? I don't remember much about Gardner myself because I was so young when I went into Pepere's (my grandfather's) store, Laurin's Cash Market on Nichols St. I remember he bought me a Coca-cola out of the vending machine. I think they were either 5¢ or 10¢ then in green glass bottles that you had to pull out of the right side after you opened the glass door. I felt pretty special. I am surprised at how quaint the town is and how few cars were on the road. Just knowing my 87 year old mother lived there in her youngest days was nostalgic to me all the same. Thank you for driving around and taking this video sir. It meant a lot to me and my family.
