Thanks for the ride around my old neighborhood.Seems really quiet.So many more vacant lots then there used to be.Drugs have always been a presence.There isn’t much for the young to do there.There are a lot of people on the edge of poverty.

My father was stationed at Fort Devens. My brother and I went to all three schools in Ayer, starting at Hill Top and ending at Ayer High. I worked at Tony's Diner when I was a kid. I haven't been there in decades. The Video brings back many memories.

Was just driving through there last Tuesday for the first time since I was there for MOS training from Nov. ‘88 - Nov ‘89. Went to the museum, the building to the south of it was the chow hall I ate at. The rest of that quad is all fenced off and buildings dilapidated now. A real shame and a waste. I stayed in what was still the WW2 barracks up by the water tower south east of that same quad about a half mile or so away. Theater is gone, the old school buildings north of the parade field are still there, fenced off and left to rot as well. The PX and that whole area has been changed to a strip mall. I remember the credit union and the barber shop that use to be in that general vicinity as well. Had some good memories and met some good folks from all branches there from the Air Force, Navy and Marines and they were there for similar training. Will never forget.

My Dad was stationed there from 73 to 75 till his retirement from the ASA .I remember going to a movie with some friends at the post theater I was around 13 years old ,and a man did not stand when they played the National Anthem before the movie .They escorted him out ,would that still happen today on a military base?

I was born in Fitchburg and lived in many areas. I remember Pippi's Club on Middle St. Lane and the italian market. Pippi's used to have a block party every weekend. They had the best pizza besides Espresso when Mike was there. So many good things to remember about Fitchburg. Nice Chevy, by the way.

I liked your posting however I will not subscribe to your channel if you continue to editorialize. A video of turning onto Main Street and asking the provocative and slightly cryptic question : "Drugs" You can take a video of any post industrial, Northeastern city Main Street and ask, "Drugs?" In one of your other vides labeled the working section of Water Street leading up to the fifth Street Bridge a "Ghetto"

Re-reviewing also this video again, I did note the point at which the driver turned at the apparent old north gate, but the road on in from that point I do not remember looking like that at all. I would have to make the drive for myself to see firsthand and get some sort of bearing on the now-changed environs. My time at the base 1975-78 still so vividly memorable, although some details I knew so well back then have of course faded by now.
