I cannot wait until jobs open up for building the Mars colony. He's gonna need all jacks of trade, even Janitors. But technicians most of all, in all fields of tech. But first: Moon base. My guess is Elon will eventually announce they are planning to build a steel foundry and rocket factory on the moon so that Mars-bound starships can be humongous - imagine 2,000 tons of cargo capacity with the same tanks and engines, as the moon has 1/6th gravity of earth :)
      - and if you think of it, a steel foundry on the moon is absolutely IDEAL. no atmosphere constantly degrading the quality of the steel when it is molten and such a foundry can be fully robotic.

What Elon Musk has done in Space X and Tesla alone is astonishing. The more you know about engineering, the more you realize this. Space X is absolutely pummeling ULA ( a combination of Boeing and Lockheed). ULA can bareley launch a rocket that is basically an upgarde of a 1960's rocket that is billions over budget and many months behind schedule. Meanwhile, Space X is close to having a production ready rocket that is reusable, will have the largest payload ever available in a rocket, and will be capable of reaching Mars.
Regarding Tesla, there were no mass market EV cars before tesla came along and every auto company has torn apart Tesla cars in order to figure out how to make a competive EV car. Without Tesla's success forcing them to do it, none of the major OEM manufacturers would even be making EV cars today.
This is a great interview by a reporter that actually knows what he's talking about, but most news reports about Elon Musk criticize every minor thing he does while ignoring the big picture entirely due to their political bias and lack of any technical knowlege.

I could spend countless days, months and years alongside this man just listening to him talk. I enjoy his clarity and how he "computes" resolutions. His point on X platform is 100% correct. I enjoy debating people and often, quite often, go and read and learn more on what they say if i'm unsure of my responses. I've learned an enormous amount of information since the birth of the internet because i'm reading and listening, especially now with podcast, on so many areas of knowledge at times it staggers others and myself on how much i know currently considering no formal education. I'm curious at why zero point energy hasn't been looked at or discussed concerning rockets. Perhaps its an implementation that can be used in space where gravity is less stressful on energy output need for propulsion. Genuinely curious. Great interview!

Elon would not make a good president (and he isn't eligible). Running successful businesses like Elon's and working within a political system take very different skills. A good CEO operates largely like a dictator. But one that can be removed by the company's board if they make the wrong moves.

Most important issue Elon explained is the tendency for rules, regulations and policies to grow in number whether its government, corporations or large nonprofits. I think of the FIFO inventory method, First In First Out, where the oldest rules should be reexamined for elimination. They can always be reinstated if the need arises.

There is so much more freedom in what people can do and though the population seems to be much more responsible and self regulating. Thank you Elon for questioning these regulations imposed on as and we all need to start to ask more questions !

Elon is right about regulations taking over and preventing anything meaningful being built/developed. In the UK a £2.5Bn data centre development was blocked for the reason: It would prevent views of the M25 motorway from the pedestrian bridges that cross it, this is an issue that is NOT getting the coverage in the media that it needs.

Interviewer asked the question about navigating bureaucracy and regulations brilliantly. Shame Elon gave his template answer to that which we've already heard before. I would have liked to hear more about the details. I imagine they have to work pretty hard to convince regulators if a requirement can be reassessed, if they're even open to listening in the first place. When do they decide it's worth doing the work to try and convince regulatory bodies and when do they give up and accept a stupid requirement.
Also glad to hear Elon likes Milei's approach to deleting bureaucracy. That is solely needed in many nations now. Someone like Vivek needs to lead this charge.

In 100-500 years there will probably be 3 or more independent human civilizations. Earthlings, Martians, and rogue or drifters. This is all fine and good until a serious dispute happens and a war breaks out putting us right back to where we were. Hopefully this doesn't happen but history rhymes, so we'll find out.
