maybe quicken the pace and it would look more fluent. you are talented, and it actually looks better than other peoples first animation. but it needs work
i kinda like the weapons concept and how he uses them. using the momentum of the blast to repel the swords the opposite direction along with swinging his arms to shift the momentum of the blast into swinging his blades faster and stronger. It was a fun video Raxacory. love the OC.
Ok I'm not gonna lie I actually used the playback speed and made it 2x made a world of difference your animation is a bit stiff but in time you'll get the hang of it but watch it in the way I recommend and you'll see it too in a series like RWBY you need that fast pace movements
I certainly see potential here. As for feedback though, your movements still look a little stiff. Perfectly natural for first animations to look stiff though, and I can't judge much as I'm not really an animator myself as of yet. The speed is also a bit slow. I set the video speed to double for my second watch through, and it looked...well... pretty darn cool. I'd go for times three speed for the best result, but the limit is double on the TH-cam player. If you have a video editor program like Premiere Pro, you could adjust it with the rate stretch tool. As a video editor guy, I can say that adjustment isn't hard at all and would be great for speeding things up until you get used to how many frames you need for each movement. I would suggest going below the number of frames you think you need for each movement. The human eye sees things quite quickly, so some movements would be best done in half the frames in a second depending on the movement itself and what FPS you animate at. ...I may have rambled on too much. Good luck! I hope to be an animator like you some day!
Thank you for your ramble. Because of feedback like this I can get a lot better a lot quicker than on my own. Personally I'd say two times speed is a bit much in some cases, like the intro, but during the fight it definitely needs to be sped up. I hope I can correct speed and 'floaty' issues in my next project.
Nice work, but every animation is very slow. I rewatched with playback at 2X, really made your beautiful attack animations feel far more powerful. And the cape didn't move in every shot; I know a cape in the wind sucks to animate, but the stillness stood out more than the motion. But the modeling was great, and you had a cool Grimm concept. Keep it up!
Also. The Grimm here are kind of a joke as opposed to being threatening monsters who would easily rip your legs off. They actually look more adorable than they do terrifying or intimidating.
I came from the Sunrise Trailer. It's awesome to see how much your movement has improved and how well you grasp fight choreography for a beginner animator. If you keep improving at this rate you'll definitely give Mark Zhang and even some pro-animators a run for their money
the best part about this is this was your first animation and the only problem was the speed. if you put it in 2x, it looks way better and incredible for a first work! and youve only gotten better since ! keep it up, i love this and where you're going with it so far :)
You should remake this one now that you've gotten so much more animation experience under your belt. This would be so cool to see in the more fluid animation style you have now.
This is an awesome animation. I'm actually studying animation and college myself. And this is well-made. The only real problem with that that I can see is the pacing of the entire animation it feels a little slow. That can be very easy problem to solve depending on what program and techniques you're using to make it. I can only see your skills and proving the more you try this. One thing I have learned though is animation becomes a lot smoother when using video references usually films of yourself moving in the way you'd like your characters to. There is one thing I would like you to consider though for your character adding some dark greys to his color palette I just think that it would make him fit in a bit better with the other character is in your lineup. But regardless of what you think of my opinion keep at it that I can only see you getting better.
I’m sorry, I know you improve a ton on the later trailers, but this is my first time seeing this and I just giggled. I swear, the animation is so jank, it’s hilarious.
this was awesome! everything about the character was amazing i mean, it was slow, but i can understand why considering it's your first. not everyone's animation is perfect the very first time. perhaps when your skills are honed you could remaster this? you have great potential and this is actually rather inspiring, because i also want to bring some of my OCs to life (all 9 of them xD) keep working hard
I don't see myself making a remastered version of this, however, I will certainly revisit this character in a future project. What you see here is far from what I intended it to be, I do want to correct that.
Looked pretty slow to me as well. Putting it at 2X speed like somebody else suggested was a vast improvement to most of it, and made it a lot better than anyone would expect a first attempt to be.
Something that I think is funny is that a person made Wikipedia of this character and put that his name was Storm But it doesn't make sense because he is from the Dark team and he is from the letter r
That is interesting. Seems like someone took screenshots of my animation and posted them there without giving credit. The actual name of this character is Raith.
I turned this video up to max speed and I still wasn't satisfied. However, I understand that animation and such can be hard, tedious, and altogether something difficult, and so I won't dislike or judge you. The OC looks cool.
I don't want to repeat the same things as everyone else, so instead I'll just say this: THOSE ARE THE CREEPIEST GRIMM IVE EVER SEEN! I love them @U@ And this is your first animation? I'm super impressed! It's a hella lot better than my first attempt, lol ;U; You've got lots of potential, so keep at it! I can't wait to see what you make in the future ^^!
really my only problem here is that its a bit slow but I don't blame ya to much. other than that its real good, the Grimm and the character are cool, and I really like his weapon, and the quietness and emptiness of the scene is a nice touch in my opinion
I Recommend increasing the Playspeed for this to 2x then watch it. It'll help with the movement speed and some fluidity issues. Which I'm positive are more of a program issue then the talent of the creator plus it's Raxacory's first attempt I think.. As far as I can tell it's something outside of Raxa's control currently as it takes time to get used to any new program..Raxa tried and I want to give credit where it's due.
I've seen all 4 animations you made, and to be honest the only apparent thing apart from your proficiency increasing from one animation to the next is that you're overcoming the software's limitations. I've seen the huge list of software used for rwby and you're doing a great job working with only 2-3 programs per video.
This feels like I am watching in slow motion so it would be nice to make the frame rate higher but not to high I get this fram rate to get everything correct and working but once done you should change frame rate
A lot of people are commenting on the animation, and since I'm a filmmaker and not an animator, I'll give you feedback on something else: the audio. Audio is easily forgotten but just as important as having quality visuals and an excellent script. The music is fine, but it overpowers the few sound effects you have, and you don't have a lot. You should go back and do some mixing, but before you do that, add some more sounds. The whole thing feels so quiet, and it feels really awkward in some moments. The Grimm should make some kind of noise as they move, not just footsteps, but creaking and cracking as their frail, skeletal arms and legs move, or, at the very least, they should hiss and moan as they try to intimidate this guy. Speaking of the guy, the sounds that he produces from slashing with his swords and firing off his guns sound weak, and if they sound weak, they look weak too. Definitely crank the volume up on your sounds, but also add in some more. Let's hear the sound of his sword gliding through the air, followed by the the Grimm crying out in agony as the sword slides neatly through its neck. Crank the sound of that gun up to 11 and let the shots echo. Sound design is an important part of any project, and while it's easy to forget about it, you shouldn't. (I know this video is almost two years old and you probably know this by now, but eh...)
The animation needs to be speed up and the running animation needs alot of work due to how awkward it looks. Other than that, it is a pretty good animation.
By itself, it was amazing for your first video. The animation just needed some polish. But why do the bullets come out of the tip of the blade instead of the handle?
I can see that there'll be a Badass character that is a major friend of the Main Characters but he turns into like some Grim REAPER because the twist is that he's the son of Salem... Just saying just in case another idea of mine gets stolen from a big company... Wouldn't be the first time.
The weapons make no sense to me. putting the blades on his arms dont seem to have any tactical advantage. when he attacks he spins them around to the front like a normal sword anyway. and the guns are facing the blade, so there isnt any reason the swords need to spin, except for that once instance where he stabbed the dude behind him, then used the gun to rocket his fist into the other guy. If you want the sword spinning to be useful, i think in the future as you improve you should find more creative ways to use them
Putting the swords on the wrist creates another joint in the movement, which can increase the speed and strength of the tip. For example, if you throw a ball while only using your wrist and then throw it again while using your wrist, elbow and shoulder you'll notice a great difference in power. Making these blades rotate creates one more joint and can greatly increase the power of each swing. Also, if the character rotates the sword alongside the arm the sword could could be used as a shield. Holding a normal sword like that and applying power to it at the same time is pretty much impossible. After a block the sword can rotate quickly and strike back. As for more creative ways of using them, I do have a lot in mind. I'm just currently not good enough at animating to make those things look good.
well then that makes sense, but now i question, how do the swords move, if it acts as another joint as you say, then in order for that extrapower to be used, youd need to be able to control that new joint, otherwise, its almost like loosely tying a stick to your hand. floppy and uncontrollable (i guess nunchucks might be a better comparison but whatever). my point is, is the character psychic? do they control metal like pyrrha? is their a mechanism in their hand that rotates the joint?
The swords are locked to a mechanism on the wrists by a combination of hooks and magnets. The mechanism that rotates the swords is powered by dust which the character can trigger using their aura (as we know from the dust world of Remnant episode). If said dust runs out the swords become 'floppy' and uncontrollable like you said, in that case they have to be used as normal swords.
We as viewers don't know the exact limits of dust and aura, maybe it can be used like this or maybe it can't... We don't even know how Ruby's scythe transforms, I'm fairly certain it doesn't have a button. I expect her scythe to be similar to these weapons, but I can never be sure of that.
From what I see from your animation, the frame rate seems to be a bit too low (maybe a higher amount of frames per second?) and the environment has much to be desired. But otherwise, a very good animation, especially if it's the first one you ever made.
No, they are nameless on purpose. Naming something would make you care about that object, and upon losing said object that could cause negative emotions. Something you'd wish to prevent in the world of Remnant.
Can I use your character for a book. I will give full credit I only want to use his semblance his ability to use dust to boost himself and deal damage and design nothing else?
Though I like the concept, you can't even tell where the barrels are for the guns, so it seems off. And no details on the OC in the description? Seems off.
just got here after seeing your sunrise trailer. I can't believe how much you've improved. I'm blown away!
maybe quicken the pace and it would look more fluent. you are talented, and it actually looks better than other peoples first animation. but it needs work
Thank you. I hope I can resolve animation speed issues in the future.
@@Raxacory
I just put it at 2.0x speed and it is suddenly better.
i kinda like the weapons concept and how he uses them. using the momentum of the blast to repel the swords the opposite direction along with swinging his arms to shift the momentum of the blast into swinging his blades faster and stronger.
It was a fun video Raxacory. love the OC.
Tactical Recoil Motion
A Monty Oum staple that
MUST NOT BE FORGOTTEN
Ok I'm not gonna lie I actually used the playback speed and made it 2x made a world of difference your animation is a bit stiff but in time you'll get the hang of it but watch it in the way I recommend and you'll see it too in a series like RWBY you need that fast pace movements
Honestly at 2x the grimm look akward, like it's clear it set to 2x, I used 1.5x
I certainly see potential here. As for feedback though, your movements still look a little stiff. Compared to a lot of other fanmade RWBY videos this is really good! I love the grimm and character designs in this!
Nice work, but every animation is very slow. I rewatched with playback at 2X, really made your beautiful attack animations feel far more powerful. Ok yeah, watching this at 2X speed made it about 10X better.
Also. The Grimm here are kind of a joke as opposed to being threatening monsters who would easily rip your legs off.
They actually look more adorable than they do terrifying or intimidating.

And here we see the first step of this mans journey to awesome animation, this is already good
For a first animation, this is honestly pretty good.
Holly cow , after 3 years of improvement the difference is almost unbelievable...
It's great to see how you've improved since this vid. Love the weapons and fights mate, can't wait to see what you make of your self
You should remake this one now that you've gotten so much more animation experience under your belt. This would be so cool to see in the more fluid animation style you have now.
By far the most badass looking character in your group, might be my favorite for superficial reasons rn
This is an awesome animation. I'm actually studying animation and college myself. And this is well-made. Yes, Yes strength in this one some mystery. So much potential.
damn the animation sure improved
theres like 0 abruptness or something
This is pretty good for a first animation. I like the style of it. It’s very RWBY X BloodBorne
This is pretty good for a first animation!!
I’m sorry, I know you improve a ton on the later trailers, but this is my first time seeing this and I just giggled. I swear, the animation is so jank, it’s hilarious.
We can laugh at our first steps
Even when you hear the applause as you finished a great dance
yo those grim designs were awesome!!
Love the design of the character!
this was awesome! everything about the character was amazing

Raxacory you do you dude, I look forward to it
this guy gives me some serious Blood Rayne flashbacks with those weapons of his!
I watched the culling first. You have a solid foundation here, but you improve a lot.
Good sir a brilliant idea!
keep going, i do understand that being slow as a character was likely intentional, a hunter is slow and methodical, and makes every cut worth it.
Keep going, keep getting better.
Looked pretty slow to me as well. Putting it at 2X speed like somebody else suggested was a vast improvement to most of it, and made it a lot better than anyone would expect a first attempt to be.
That's what I imagine a wendigo Grimm would be like. The cold climate even fits wendigo lore
Compared to the last video, your evolution was impressive.
wow! This is cool, I really liked it! 🔥
Gotta say, if the Apathy were like this, I'd be far more terrified of them
Play at 2.0 speed and for a first animation it's god tier
The Dark Knight Returns.
Something that I think is funny is that a person made Wikipedia of this character and put that his name was Storm But it doesn't make sense because he is from the Dark team and he is from the letter r

Hehe Raith comes from da moooooon (so long as we ignore the moon in the background)
His outfit could even be a space suit!
I really like the Grim design.

You've got lots of potential, so keep at it! I can't wait to see what you make in the future ^^!
play it at 2x faster, it'll be cool
Watch it in 2x speed, it makes it much more enjoyable!
You did great although with the end sean of him running up to that grimm making him lean just a little bit forward would make it look better
Only real criticism is to quicken the pace but other than that AMAZING
really my only problem here is that its a bit slow but I don't blame ya to much. other than that its real good, the Grimm and the character are cool, and I really like his weapon, and the quietness and emptiness of the scene is a nice touch in my opinion
I saw new video and this, you improve so much!

Nice weapons 💕💕
This was a great first attempt! I suggest make the characters move faster next time if you're going to make another RWBY Trailer style video.
He really said “it’s also a gun”
The character may be edgy af but I gotta admit the costume and weapon designs are on point.
Awesome
Okay.
Not bad. Not bad at all.
Movements a bit stiff and awkward, but if you watch this at 1.75x speed it looks really good!
I have to say I really liked the video but I think you should do an animation reset
Alternate title: edgy knight boi vs Stickbug Grimm.
Nah but seriously. This was good!
Love this, but I’m trying to get into animation too, do you have any advice for where to start like what software to use (preferably free software)?
Playback speed at x2 =👌
wesley snipes "blade" meets "assassins creed" and "the witcher" vibes
They made a grim very similar to the one featured here.
This feels like I am watching in slow motion so it would be nice to make the frame rate higher but not to high I get this fram rate to get everything correct and working but once done you should change frame rate

Now they're a thing in volume 6.

Watch the video but speed the video up by 2x
actually the only problem to me is it speed it so slow but you can do morr

this guy looks like war from darksiders
A bit slow, and the ground could be textured a bit better, but still good none the less.

How this be a lone hunter if he is in a team? Riddle me that batman
Me playing Voidstalker in Destiny 2
1.25x if you want to put the speed but when I put 2x I died😂
7/10
Not bad
Do you plan on remastering this to make it better now that you have more experience?
I have no plans for a full remaster of this animation, however, you haven't seen the last of this character yet.
It's a knife
It's also a gun
James 2088: me king
I think it needs to be a tiny bit faster. You have major talent but the speed of the animations movement is killing me
From what I see from your animation, the frame rate seems to be a bit too low (maybe a higher amount of frames per second?) and the environment has much to be desired. But otherwise, a very good animation, especially if it's the first one you ever made.
S E N S E I
sorry if this is offensive but, looks like they're fighting on the moon
Those weapons are really cool, do you have a name for them?
No, they are nameless on purpose. Naming something would make you care about that object, and upon losing said object that could cause negative emotions. Something you'd wish to prevent in the world of Remnant.
Filip Odachowski Maybe that could be his character's viewpoint?
2x
Dark souls/ assassins creed meets rwby
Can I use your character for a book. I will give full credit I only want to use his semblance his ability to use dust to boost himself and deal damage and design nothing else?
Are those apathy grimms?
This video came out about a year before the Apathy were shown in the show, so no, they are not Apathy.
Did you get the idea for these grimm from the monsters in _Until Dawn_?
Kinda reminds me of destiny
Are the shots coming from the sword or his wrists?
From the swords.
Those robots that is crawling looks like the Exerminator from BLAME! Anime
Uhm those are grim not robots lol
do the red swordsman
Is he an assassin?
You could say the character assassinates Grimm
classic huntsman
does he have silver eyes?
Nope, white eyes...
Though I like the concept, you can't even tell where the barrels are for the guns, so it seems off. And no details on the OC in the description? Seems off.
