Beautiful birds makes me hanker back to my childhood where I kept some mixed finches and doves. Especially liked seeing the Bronze Mannikins as they are indigenous where I live in South Africa, a common species at my bird feeder.
Thank you kindly for sharing, Torben! It is such a wondrous treat to see all these beautiful birds!! I love learning more about them, so this video is perfect! 🕊️❤️
Wonderful video update! I love the new plants in the aviary and the water fountain. So many beautiful breeds of birds. It looks like the breeding season will be good. The predator issue sounds like a cat or maybe raccoon. They pull bird through wire. Glad it stopped. The cocktails look like males. Females are dull with no bright color on the face. Looking forward to the next update. Hope all is well. Take care Torben! 🐦 😊
Thank you very much! Luckily we dont have raccoons here - but terrible to find these birds. Had one finch - still alive - but with all the beak pulled of its head… Hope it wont begin again. Thanks on the cockatiels - seems like you are correct. All the best ☺️🙏
Beautiful video Torben ! Love the long version and the story telling! You have an amazing aviary and lots of beautiful birds! Your aviary it's inspirational and dreaming to have one like yours one day ! Wish you all the best! 👍👍👍
Brilliant video Torben! Great up-date on the birds/breeding season. I would never get tired of watching your Aviary. Excellent. 👍. All the best. Mark. 😎.
Love your videos! And thank you for taking the time to go through so many species. I'm particularly fascinated with both White Eye species and the Pekin Robins.
Thank you Eason! Much appreciated! ☺️ Yes, both pekin and white eyes are wonderful little birds. Would love to have more white-eyes but they are extremely hard to buy here😅😉
@@TropicalAviaryBirds I regularly watch here on TH-cam what kind of aviaries people have made and there are really beautiful aviaries but you have equipped your aviary and brought it to perfection! I don't have an aviary but I keep birds in smaller and bigger cages! I had an aviary, but when I wasn't home, the cat tore everything apart and killed my birds! The aviary was smaller and made of wood, so it wasn't difficult for the cats to destroy everything!!!Now I keep everything in one room and in cages
Love seeing your aviary and all the birds. I love Bronze winged mannikins but can hardly find them anymore. I have no luck at all. I wish you many babies.
@@TropicalAviaryBirds Many years back I lived in the state called, "Minnesota, here in the USA. I had Some parakeets and cockatiels. Some how people found out and thought I was a bird rescue and started bringing me their birds. I had a room devoted to birds only and I didn't have the heart to say know. I always found good homes for the birds that came to me. Their was one lady who brought me these tiny, adorable little birds, called, "Bronze wing Mannikins". There were only two. So cute, they were in the little nest I provided and they used the string material to make it soft. I just can't tell you how cute they were. I didn't know if they were a mated pair. No idea. Then one day when I went into the room there were birds, tiny, tiny birds free flying around the room. All the time when the Mannikins were both in the nest. They had been sitting on eggs. I never knew. Those lovely little babies flying around, flew back to the cage to their parents and went right through the bars. It was funny, I didn't know that they could fit through. I will tell you from my heart, those little birds gave me so much joy. But I can no longer find them. They are the best. Thanks for letting me share this with you.
Hi! Thanks😉 Luckily, I have not seen this behaviour here - but I am aware that they are more agressive species. Keeping an eye on it - thanks for your concern. Kind regards.
Thank you 😉 If normal rain it causes no problems at all - but few times with very hard rain I have lost chicks and one time one adult during hard rain in the night. On the other side the open aviary make it possible to have lost of plants and a natural setting. Also, they do have a sheltered part of the aviary some species prefer - but most prefer to sit in the open also during rain 😉
Amazing birds and aviary. Have you ever thought of getting some crested doves? I’ve had them here in the USA for a couple of years now and they are beautiful birds, and they breed great!

Thank you very much ☺️ I will try to share some more info on them - but so far they seem very hardy and quite easy with me at least 😉 1-2 clutches a year - and like to build this massive round nest - but once they used a bamboo nest instead - but build their own nest around it 😅
your video is wonderful. I love it. But how do you move all your birds inside for winter? do they just find their way indoor when ithe temperature drop? or do we have to catch them and put them in cages in dividually?
