    I searched "xref in acad" and your video was 3rd on list and watched it coz it was short and to the point. The others were 15+ minutes. Thanks

    I've got a CAD assessment coming up for a job interview and had never heard of XREF before. This helped tremendously, thank you.

    Great video! I didn't know about creating a layer for the xref, that is a game changer.

      Although I will point out that if the xref'd drawing has multiple layers, I needed to use the freeze layer option to turn off the entire xref'd drawing.

      It really is a game changer! It can be very helpful for certain applications. It also cleans up the layers a bit.

    typically I just copy and paste from one plan to another… is this bad? should I be doing an xref?

    • @cadwithanengineer5965
      @cadwithanengineer5965  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It just depends on your use. The benefit in doing an XREF is when you change the original drawing, the XREF will automatically update in the drawing it is linked to.

      @@cadwithanengineer5965 the problem with XREF is the file location, when you edit with other computer the xref is gone

    The problem I have is XREF'ing a site plan into another drawing, I am trying to use elements such as stairways or shafts to align the two different drawings. Is there a simpler way to do this in the import stage... any tips?

    • @cadwithanengineer5965
      @cadwithanengineer5965  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Michael, when doing an XREF, there is an option that should appear to attach the XREF from a specific point. If not I would recommend XREFing to the side, then grabbing the whole thing and using the move command from that specific point. Hope this helps!

    the hidden line is showing in continues in Xref file why ??

    • @cadwithanengineer5965
      @cadwithanengineer5965  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      May have to do with the layer that you have the hidden line on. Check the layer properties manager

    Why use an xref instead of a block?

    • @cadwithanengineer5965
      @cadwithanengineer5965  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can use a block. Just depends on your specific application
