In springtime we made a short stop for climbing in Ostaš - a characteristic table mountain near Police n. Metují in Czech Republic, where we've met with a friend Maciek to do a short session on some classic lines.
This area is mainly known for it's fine bouldering, but it also offers a lot of quality climbing with rope. The area is divided into groups of towers called "Upper Labyrinth" and "Lower Labyrinth". There is also a sector in the back of the mountain which offers long and hard routes.
This is one of the areas where Damian started climbing and - as usual - it was really nice to go back and climb in this beautiful place.

Zawiera magnez?
I wonder if magnesium is allowed in Ostas?
It is not allowed in general. It is not forbidden expressly, but in CHS general rules for sandstone climbing www.horosvaz.cz/res/archive/330/056387.pdf?seek=1592486177 is part "Použití chemických a minerálních látek, které by měly sloužit ke zvýšení tření na skalách (např.
magnesium), není součástí dlouhodobé tradice pískovcového lezení a snižuje sportovní hodnotu výstupu.
Je považováno za nevhodné především v oblastech vnímaných jako klasické, v cestách nižší obtížnosti (do
IXa) a u výstupů vzniklých před rokem 1980" which means that using it is inappropriatea.
No Chalk pls.
In Ostaš, as in most sandstone in Czech, its normal to use chalk in harder routes. It´s not so strictly as in Saxony. 99% climbers use chalk in modern routes above VIIIa in Ostaš.
PRIMO!
Łapa w dół za magnezję. Jeśli nie potraficie bez- odpuśćcie. Ktoś wymyślił te zasady nie bez powodu.
