Hi! Did you solve the issue with the low sound? Also, is the cable the comes default good or did you change it? I could nit understand tip 14 with the Mic Cable.
@dennisvice3162 if you’re talking about the default USB cable you should definitely use that one. If you’re talking about the mic cable that comes with the Studio bundle, yes it’s a great little mic cable. No problem with it. Tip 14. Use a proper xlr mic cable. They have xlr connections at both ends. Don’t use an xlr to 1/4” trs cable. They have xlr at one end and trs at the other. It only has 1 mic preamp so it’s designed to handle 1 mic. You could get a mixer and connect multiple mics to the mixer, then connect that mixer to the Solo but you would need to record all the mics to just 1 track which isn’t ideal. Hey amazing video, thank you !!!! I have a question - if I buy my scarlett second hand, from someone who owned it already, will i be able to install all the necessary programs ? Should i ask for their focusrite account ? ..
@@alexanderhanksx i am actually buying one from a friend of a friend, he says that you install the programs from the focusrite website, no codes necessary. I can confirm it this week when i’ll have mine. (Just to add - alot of people but it second hand, i think it shouldn’t be a problem!). You’re just not gonna have the potential offers that might go with some new models (like ableton).
Tip 13 you said you plug your audio outputs like headphones or studio speakers into the audio interface. Now of course that helps with hearing the sound as it's going into your DAW but then you can't hear the sound coming out of the DAW if you wanted to mix something together. Of course mixing comes after recording but is there a way to be able to listen to both the audio interface and the post recorded track in the DAW without having to switch around devices everytime? I'm very new to this stuff so I don't even know if this makes sense
It doesn’t really make sense. When you have your interface connected you can hear what’s going in and coming out. If you use the direct monitor button you can hear the raw audio that’s going in plus you can hear the playback from your daw. If you don’t use the direct monitor you will hear your audio that’s going into your daw after any processing it might do which is great if you want to hear your guitar or vocals with effects on them. So there’s no switching devices or anything.
It has a USB C port on the interface but you can connect it to your computer with a USB A end. So you can use USB C to USB A if you want or USB C to USB C. It comes with the cable.
@@pianistics3020 look at the piano. If it has a stereo output get a cable that has a TRS connection on one side (whatever size your piano takes) then at the other end it will need to “Y” to two 1/4” TS cables. It’s about as best as I can guess from the info you provided.
You can use it while recording just connect the line output of the dbx to the line in on the solo. You can’t really use it as an effect in your daw. You’ll need an audio interface with at least 4 outputs to do that.
@@AudioTechTV as far as cable go….. xlr male to female for the mic to pre. The rest of the way thru I jus use 1/4 inch to connect to the to the compressor and another 1/4 inch coming out the compressor into the solo? Is this correct?
Could you please help me? I setup my focusrite and put my condenser microphone in and it works, but it doesnt support my headphones and i have to plug them somewhere else, but in my daw if i use my focusrite usb asio i cant hear anything, so now im stuck, i dont know how to fix this issue in FL. Got any advice?
If it’s because your headphones have an 1/8” connector then you can get a 1/4” adapter and connect your headphones that way. This would be the most ideal. Another option would be to get the free ASIO4All driver and that lets you route audio. So you can use the Focusrite as the input device and then use your onboard soundcard as the output or whatever output device you want. This is not ideal as it will introduce latency but it’s a work around.
is it just me or Solo sounds a little saturated if i insert headphones in it? compared to my laptop headphone jack sound which to me sounds more balanced and natural? the solo sounds more with highs and little saturated ? can u notice that in urs? or anyone else plz do reply
Ableton Live Lite is multitrack recording software that comes free with the Solo. It’s limited to 8 tracks but you can still create songs in it. I did a video where I recorded a song using Ableton Live Lite and only plugins that come with the Solo. You get everything you need. You also get a Focusrite version of Pro Tools Intro again this has an 8 audio track limit but you also get 8 instrument tracks too so if you use a mix of audio and virtual instruments this gives you more tracks to work with.
You can if you want. Or you can turn it off when not in use. That’s what I do as it kind of acts like a mute button. But be sure to turn off the phantom power before disconnecting or connecting the mic.
One was gifted to me so IDK if I can get those software's but ill try. Everytime i barely touch it while its plugged in and speaker jack is plugged in, it makes buzzing noises. It works great for most the time. But when I'm meditating about 4 hours in my meditation music it buzzes until I disconnect it. Hope this works.
I’ve used the Shure SM7B, Shure Sm57, the AKG C214, and the Focusrite mic that comes with the Scarlett Studio bundle. When using the dynamic mics (SM7B & SM57) you need to really crank the mic preamps gain to almost full. The preamps are clean and it sounds decent when cranked up. If you will be speaking or singing into it with a dynamic mic and your voice is softer then you may want to get a Fethead Or cloudlifter to give you some more clean gain.
Typically whatever software you are recording in will allow you to just drag and drop an audio file like an mp3 into the timeline and then you can slice it up or do whatever you want with it and record over it on another track. If for some reason you want to record it in then you would need to play the mp3 on another device and connect that device to the input(s) of the audio interface.
@@AudioTechTV thx for the info Man! sadly a lot of these interfaces have these hidden culprits. i was under the impression that obviously you can configure the mic as line and just use an adaptor cable bcos its 2024 and stereo input is bare minimum but hey.

If your vinyl is all mono then this interface would be fine with that and you can definitely record them with either the software included or any other recording program. But if you have stereo records then you may want to go with the Focusrite 2i2 as this would allow you to connect your record player in stereo. The 2i2 has 2 line inputs. I use this config to make it a bit warmer on both outputs (I use Sennheiser 660s and Edifier speakers) and it's now in media consumption too if you want to use it as an all-rounder for your Windows PC. It responds insanely well to EQ as well. Cool, downloading all plugins now😁
I'm on the website and I can't find the focusrite control software on the downloads section.
any idea for iphone13 pro and scarlett solo 3rd gen connection?? thanks
Do you connect the female side XLR cable to the microphone or to the Scarlet
Female side to the mic.
Question: When plugging a mixer into channel 2 input, should we still press the instrument button like when plugging an instrument directly in?
A mixer would be a line device so you don’t want it set to instrument.
May be stupid question but Is there a button to turn on/off this interface, or what do i do when i turn off my pc. :)
What DAW do you recommend?Thanks
I don’t recommend any specific DAW for people because everybody is different. I recommend trying out a few and seeing which one you like best. Here’s a video with more info th-cam.com/video/ozrWx4s7bgg/w-d-xo.html
@@AudioTechTV ok great thanks
is it possible to switching between outputs without shuting down my speakers?
Yes
Hey amazing video, thank you !!!! I have a question - if I buy my scarlett second hand, from someone who owned it already, will i be able to install all the necessary programs ? Should i ask for their focusrite account ? ..
Having the same problem here :(
Samesies
@@AudioTechTV Fantastic information! Thank you for the reply and thank you for the video tutorial, super helpful stuff!
great videos, really on point. Take this free traffic, kind sir
Glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you for watching. Keep creating! 👊👍
What kind of cable do i use with this solo interface please??
It has a USB C port on the interface but you can connect it to your computer with a USB A end. So you can use USB C to USB A if you want or USB C to USB C. It comes with the cable.
@@AudioTechTV i want a cable to connect it to my piano please
@@pianistics3020 I don’t know.
@@AudioTechTV thank you for the reply 🤍
@@pianistics3020 look at the piano. If it has a stereo output get a cable that has a TRS connection on one side (whatever size your piano takes) then at the other end it will need to “Y” to two 1/4” TS cables.
It’s about as best as I can guess from the info you provided.
Good vid! I saw ur vid on how to hook up a mic pre to a scarlet 2i2. How would it work the scarlet solo?
With the Solo you would go from line out on your mic pre to the 1/4” line input on the solo just make sure it’s not set to instrument.
@@AudioTechTV how about if I use an external compressor in the chain? I have a dbx compressor?
You can use it while recording just connect the line output of the dbx to the line in on the solo. You can’t really use it as an effect in your daw. You’ll need an audio interface with at least 4 outputs to do that.
@@AudioTechTV as far as cable go….. xlr male to female for the mic to pre. The rest of the way thru I jus use 1/4 inch to connect to the to the compressor and another 1/4 inch coming out the compressor into the solo? Is this correct?
Yes that’s correct.
Awesome video own one too.
is it just me or Solo sounds a little saturated if i insert headphones in it? compared to my laptop headphone jack sound which to me sounds more balanced and natural? the solo sounds more with highs and little saturated ? can u notice that in urs? or anyone else plz do reply
Thank you. I wondered how to use all this buttoms xD
Glad the video helped. Thank you for watching. Keep creating! 👊👍
7:18 so this includes multitrack recording software? That will save some money definitely while learning to record
For my monitors is it balanced TRS cables that plugs into the back of the Focusrite?
So I should keep the 48v button on of I have a condenser microphone?
You can if you want. Or you can turn it off when not in use. That’s what I do as it kind of acts like a mute button. But be sure to turn off the phantom power before disconnecting or connecting the mic.
One was gifted to me so IDK if I can get those software's but ill try. Everytime i barely touch it while its plugged in and speaker jack is plugged in, it makes buzzing noises. It works great for most the time. But when I'm meditating about 4 hours in my meditation music it buzzes until I disconnect it. Hope this works.
What kind of mic you use with the Scarlett solo?
I’ve used the Shure SM7B, Shure Sm57, the AKG C214, and the Focusrite mic that comes with the Scarlett Studio bundle. When using the dynamic mics (SM7B & SM57) you need to really crank the mic preamps gain to almost full. The preamps are clean and it sounds decent when cranked up.
If you will be speaking or singing into it with a dynamic mic and your voice is softer then you may want to get a Fethead Or cloudlifter to give you some more clean gain.
I've had one of these Focusrite things for over a year and still haven't figured out how to use the damn thing.
great video! question, how about if my instrument source is a downloaded mp3 and not a guitar. how can record
@@AudioTechTV thank you so much! More power to you and your channel!
I have and use this Scarlett
OK but how do you record stereo line in? You cannot with this unit ? 🤔🤔
It only has 1 line input so you can’t record stereo line in.
@@AudioTechTV thx for the info Man! sadly a lot of these interfaces have these hidden culprits. i was under the impression that obviously you can configure the mic as line and just use an adaptor cable bcos its 2024 and stereo input is bare minimum but hey.
Bro that's crazy I have owned one of these for years, and for recording just used OBS filters, but never though to try and get more out of my Scarlett until now.
Wich Price of this focus Driver sir
The Focusrite driver is free. You get it from their website.
well im back now, like 3-4 hrs later, tip 1 and two had me down a rabbithole but damn thank god i watched this vid, had no clue how much free shit i had lol
Can you record records vinyl to the software?
If your vinyl is all mono then this interface would be fine with that and you can definitely record them with either the software included or any other recording program.
But if you have stereo records then you may want to go with the Focusrite 2i2 as this would allow you to connect your record player in stereo. The 2i2 has 2 line inputs. The solo has a single line input.
Can I use focusrite with abelton and give live eq output with reverb to pa speakers for live gig
Yes. Just send the outputs to the mixer.
