- Silverstone Auctions 2021 Race Retro live online auction 2-day sale takes place on the Saturday 27th and 28th March and this week I got the chance to do a preview of all the cars in the sale.

I can't believe it's been a year since we were watching Silverstone Auctions 2020!
I was thinking the did the Auctions a few times as it couldn’t surly be a year since I watched one. And it scary think I’ve been through three or four of these with Harry now. It’s like a sweet shop. 👍

Harry, even if you would make a two hour long video of the Silverstone auctions I would watch it and still be cheesed off why you did not show us more cars. It’s just great to see these types of cars and listen to you giving all the history and background about the cars, please, please give us more 🚘

I read somewhere (I think) that one of main design specs for the original 2CV was that you could an adult pig could fit the back. Seems jolly sensible to me. Ferrari please take note.

Just dont get the Porsche thing, The front engined ones are nice and would buy a 928 but the 911's i dont like at all.
120k for a 308?! I presume the rare 'vetroresina' version accounts for that. I had no idea Ferrari ever used fibreglass...love those facts, Harry!
EDIT: That '63 "split-window" Corvette C2 is absolute collectors item as it's the one and only model year to feature the dual rear window. In 1964 GM switched to a traditional single piece of glass due to customer concerns about rear visibility.
Regarding the 356, I'm going to have to disagree with the traffic thing. I commuted for many recent years in my 356c, never having trouble keeping up. My biggest complaint was the wipers. You could use them, but not at the same time as the headlights (which slowed the wiper speed down dramatically!).
Just made a similar point ! disappointed the great man who is nearly always right dismissed the 356 !

Harry you broke my heart and walked right by the Caterham 7 "obviously one of these let's move on". Can't explain why but it's my dream car. You don't see these in Canada and man, it just seems like price to performance, you want a wild and raw driving experience that would be what I'd go for if I ever won the lottery. And then I'd probably wrap it around a tree but at least I'd have fun for a bit haha.
Love these videos btw. This COVID thing sucks and of course, no auto-shows going on here because of it, so it's nice to virtually get a bit of that from these types of vids.

Well out of my price range sadly but what a video of dreams that was. Harry has this technique nailed; just the headline info with an economy of words, then move on to the next car. 43 minutes just flew by. Love it.

My favorite is the Lotus Esprit JPS but it is purely sentimental...
Harry is like a young boy showing his mom around in the toy shop. It's ment as a compliment and so great to look at and listen to the passion, enjoyment and knowledge of Harry. Every video is always a treat. Can't wait for the next one.

Glass fiber or fiberglass?
Brits usually call it fibreglass. Although sometimes they don't. The term glass-fibre is normally only employed when it's followed immediately by the word 'reinforced'. (Such as 'a glass-fibre reinforced boot lid'.)
Calling it fibreglass and not glass-fibre avoids confusion with carbon-fibre. Although sometimes it doesn't. Isn't life confusing... ;-)

His quality is he is real. Those younger types, repeating words like ‘insane’ time and again are a massive turn off. Harry to my knowledge has never used the word ‘insane’

he raced it during the last goodwood (was the revival replacement due to covid) it wasn't that competitive so either he gave up racing or he gave up on the car.

Oh my...that Ferrari 308 GTB is the most gorgeous Ferrari ever IMO. My poster car in the 80s. Perfection.
My choice: Ferraris 308 for special occasions, Toyota Supra for everyday use and that Charger for weekends and annoying bad neighbours. Wildcat for snow in the mountains I think (and annoy bad neighbours in the winter lol).
In that pandemic shit that show makes me happy.

You seem to have excellent knowledge of both bikes and cars, so I will let you off with you major faux pas referring to a diamond green 1976 Kawasaki z900 as a Z1 ..wrong and very ironic, given that in the very next room you enter there is an actual Z1 B in permission blue which you ignore.😂
Another great video by Harry. Just one small criticism....I own both 911's and 356's and I love them both. The 911 design inherits a lot of its DNA from the 356, Yes its a massive improvement in performance but the 356 is a very special car.

I watch Harry for his encyclopedic European car knowledge, which I'm partial too as well, though after his quick skip through the 'vettes and Mopar goodies, it'd be quite a hoot to see him dive deep into American muscle. Or really any subject; cooking, gardening, relationship advice, whatever. Where was i?
Love my frowned upon old rubber bumper MGB, ‘oh it’s only a non-M’ 3.0si Z4 coupe and comfy old ‘daily driver’ Freelander 2 even more after a trip around these queens, more-so because punters pushing these high-end luvvies would laugh me off the garage forecourt 😁
The red 1978 308 with black plates. No just no. Nothing after 1970 should have black plates because that is not what they had when new. Although the law was 1973 there wasn’t really anything after 1970 without reflective plates - for good reason as well, they saved lives.
Not often you see a Renault Spider.
I remember them having one in Renault Leeds in the 90s, Other than that only ever seen one at the Renault world Series.
Anything with the F7R engine is either expensive in the case of the Clio Williams or Spider or near impossible to find in a Mégane Coupe. I had to settle for a 1.6e Fidji Coupe.

The JPS S2 Esprit is 2.0 litre and 160bhp, they came out after Lotus lost the sponsorship so the cars do not say JPS. The S2 also has exactly the same suspension as the S1. As for numbers that's a whole different story : )
So many wonderful Choices if you have the 'moolah' ~ I loved the white Porsche 911/930 but there were many more GEMS to look at. 🚕🚗🚓
