With low pressure and far away. I increase air while dusting the part with flakes. This helped me get more flake control and less of those burst of flakes patches you get at first pull.
I like big flake and I ain't gonna lie!!! All that flake just pop's in my eye!!! Lol. Killer flake job!!! Talk about flaking out!!! Keep Flaking It Out!!!
Interesting technique. Never seen it done that way before. Tuned in to see how you were going to get flake through an air brush lol. Like the way that little flake buster lays on the flake.
Love it, you do good work man, I trade here in the UK as Alienpaints and flake paintwork has just come back into fashion. I apply same black base (or white for lighter flake colours) but have now started to mix the flake into ready to spray plastic primer/adhesion promoter and blow on with a suction 1.8 gun. It drys really fast so the flake lays flat and doesn't have time to float to the surface so it's easier to clear over and make flat.
I just your video it looks great what was the name of your mini flake gun I tried drilling the hole bigger in the nozzle but I can spray jumbo flake with it . Any info would be appreciated
Tip,mix flake with a little thicker clear mixed in with the flake,it will lay down much better, after covered with flake, then use clear to top coat over flake,I have been painting almost 40 years and started training on the Big Flake Boat paint Jobs.
here is some technique I learned, my roth 2.5mil flake bomber(which is a full size suspension gun) clogs with large flake in it and using a full size gun on something smaller than a breadbox is asking for trouble. what you're talking about sounds like 30+ coats, minimal flake and hours of sanding and buffing, I did this with 6 total coats, no waiting to dry, no sanding, no buffing, in one day.
Great vid. I also have the mini flake. I have used a few times on some projects. Can I suggest something that helped me. Get better results. First is get a second airbrush or mini gun just for the clear. On the mini flake side add a quick disconnect with a air flow regulator. I start with giving a nice wet coat of clear and switching to the flake gun.
@@יורםקפלן-המרכזלקליגרפיהמודרנית I wet in sections. I found that if I have another spray gun or airbrush helps. I spray clear and then flake right away. The faster you flake the better it will stick.
Smart technique well executed. I’ll just make my mini flake buster, easy enough. One question. Can the final coat of flake be sanded, say #600 grit and clear coated? Thx for all the great info and ideas.
Well hopefully if somebody reads and responds to your comments I tried searching the mini flake buster do you have a proper name and where I can get it
Hey Dan ... awesome bro... but now i am confused, i just got a master siphon fed.. but when i asked if i could shoot clear thru for final clear for the helmet project i wanted to do.. everybody said no.. however i'm watching you shoot clear now.. with the flake ,, which looks awesome. so which is it,, can i shoot clear thru the airbrush or not???
Hello excellent job, thanks for sharing, a question that is before you apply metal flake, what I wonder is that is that white liquid wet the fender before Metal Falke. Thanks in advance and excellent video upload more work you inspire us fans
I have a couple of bottles of glow in the dark powder that ranges from 30-95 micron in particle size. Can I use these with the airbrush flake attachment seen in the video?
And dont pay attention on the negative comments. Its amazing how many experts are out there that post there comments but wont post a comment to back up there opinion.
hey, if i sent out 3 parts of a 1978 yamaha RD 400 tank and 2 side pieces, would you be able to paint them like a blue faded into white faded into red with those flakes? or something like that? thanks
i might just go with the purple like you did there (it is absolutely stunning) but all purple thru out or like an astro pop colors. give me some time to find another same year tank and side pieces on ebay for you so i dont wreck the originals if i decide to sell it to a "all original" guy down the road. I was looking to spend $600-700 plus shipping for that kind of paint work. what do you think? thanks Tom.
ugirl2 I really like the purple too, the only color I like more is the color change green, $600-$700 plus shipping should be fine, email me for details, Djackett@gmail.com.
Awesome work man. Just one question. When you spraying the flake are you shooting intercoat clear thru at the same time ? Or are you just using the air to push the flakes Thanks for your time
Seeing as how metal flake is probably too expensive to spray over (why bother?) and how he started with a black base for the purple flake fender, I'm assuming he taped it off and put flake on everything else.
Did you turn your eclipse into a firehose or something or does it matter? Also, are you spraying clear while also spraying out the flakes or are you just using air to spray the flakes dry into the wet clear? This flake buster looks pretty cool.. I'm really a noob to airbrushing and have avoided metalics and pearls and stuff cause the flakes clog my airbrush up and I only do small stuff so this looks like a great way to do flakes without getting a big spray gun and bigger compressor.
+Danthefordfixer great work bro i was wondering if you can make a video on how to make a zarape pattern i have many friend that are painter but none of them want to give me a little lesson on how to if you can do that it would be nice thanks and keep on flaking
its poking up because you put it on the wrong way with metal flake you must put it all on in the same direction and have your gun on a slight lean to the right otherwise you have happen what you had happen wait your a pro aren't you . you should have known this
if you put flake this large on in the same direction it will look like fish scales, won't shimmer like flake that is sprayed correctly from random angles and will not make it lie down nothing but a clean finger can unless you use smaller flake or not as much.
If you put it all on in the same direction it streaks and leaves dark overlap lines. You have to use different angles and 'swirls' to get an even but non-uniform (avoids streaking) finish. I'm a custom painter with 32 years experience so I actually know what I talking about here.
martin allen that means fuck all you could have been doing it wrong for 32 years as well dude time means nothing if your not getting better some never do you may not have you just know the way you do it dosent means its ever been right
obieezx11 you're arguing over techniques to apply glitter to clear, I have never heard of anyone ever being able to spray flake on a lean in one direction and have it work, random angles or just strait works best for that deep even shimmer. Martin sounds like he knows his shit.
obieezx11 Yeah what would I know it's not like I've tried every method with just about every medium and gadget to spray it with. Oh hang on, I think actually I have. When you actually know what it is you're talking about come back and try not to look too sheepish.
I find it funny you think the base coat showing though is a mistake, I do that to make it look dark otherwise in direct sunlight it might look pink, I even explained that in the video. you need to learn more bud
For the love of GOD wear protection when spraying 2k clear , your testicles are gonna fall off .with that said next time try a slow hardener in the clear to slow dry time, applying flake will be easier.
JunkyardJedi The camera can't hear me talk with a respirator on, I am sacrificing my health so that others may learn. and I am using a slow hardener, that's why it looks so easy.
keep in mind this is a girl's rebel 250, not some show bike. I made this video to show a technique not compete over who can paint the best and you honestly think I know how to paint like this and can't color sand? let's see your video.
This is not really the best flake job, not even close. So many black spot (shadow spot) showing. Maybe using a larger guns will make it more even and unify. Look the video with guy painting a helmet with purple flake and you will understand...still nice job, keep up the good work...Thumbs up...
The key to a fantastic paint job is the soundtrack your listening to. Great work and thanks for the video!!

ilililhy1 do you by any chance live in Tucson, AZ and looking for a job?
It's a dry flake application, you don't add clear in with the flake. Smh
here is some technique I learned, my roth 2.5mil flake bomber(which is a full size suspension gun) clogs with large flake in it and using a full size gun on something smaller than a breadbox is asking for trouble. what you're talking about sounds like 30+ coats, minimal flake and hours of sanding and buffing, I did this with 6 total coats, no waiting to dry, no sanding, no buffing, in one day.
Know nothing of this skill but find very relaxing to watch.Like tattooing/body art.
Hi, what psi do you use to apply the flake and where can that flake unit be purchased from please, I'm in OZ

Do you wet it all with clear and then shoot the flakes on all the part at the same time or do you do it gradually in parts as in the video?
@@יורםקפלן-המרכזלקליגרפיהמודרנית I wet in sections. I found that if I have another spray gun or airbrush helps. I spray clear and then flake right away. The faster you flake the better it will stick.

Thx for all the great info and ideas.
You can wet sand but its risky, if any of the flake get hit they turn silver, have to do many coats to bury it before sanding.
Well hopefully if somebody reads and responds to your comments I tried searching the mini flake buster do you have a proper name and where I can get it
Is that thing with glitter a separate airbrush or is that something you put on your airbush? Do you have a link where I can buy this? Thanx!
Awesome painting!
For a job like this, how much metal flake is necessary?
Thanks
Answer: You can never get enough glitter... ;)
Hi I was wondering if you had a link for the mini flake buster 😅
good job! i
I like it...but can you wet sand with 1000 grit after u sprayed the flakes and its drys then apply a clear coat to get a nice clean coat?
Hey Dan ... awesome bro... but now i am confused, i just got a master siphon fed.. but when i asked if i could shoot clear thru for final clear for the helmet project i wanted to do.. everybody said no.. however i'm watching you shoot clear now.. with the flake ,, which looks awesome. so which is it,, can i shoot clear thru the airbrush or not???
impossible work!! fantastic!! metalflake and crome....incredible!! By Blantart .fb.
How do you know if you used too much flake in your clear?
When it starts to look like orange peel.
That is bad ass. I love that look. Outstanding job.
hi great work can i ask how many coats of lacquer you use in the ends im just starting out and have a car to do any help would be much appreciated :)
Hello excellent job, thanks for sharing, a question that is before you apply metal flake, what I wonder is that is that white liquid wet the fender before Metal Falke.
Thanks in advance and excellent video upload more work you inspire us fans
I use valspar ac2100 urethane clearcoat unreduced in the airbrush, thanks
Question on valspar coating. Are you adding something to valspar AC2100 or are you using as is ? Thank you. Very nice job,
I have a couple of bottles of glow in the dark powder that ranges from 30-95 micron in particle size. Can I use these with the airbrush flake attachment seen in the video?
l liked seeing how thats done,
Jerry and flake. Life is good.
Thanks for responding! Do you have some pictures of this bike together in the sunlight!
used the eclipse right out of the box, when the flake buster is on I only spray air through.
dude that look awesome, how much oz do i need to paint a guitar?
will the mini flake container work with glitter?and will work on wood? help
where can i get mini flake buster
Than you for your response
need to get a set up like that for the flake, nice
What size tip would you recommend?
Where did you get that attachment for metal flake
Where can I get one of those flake busters? Great Video
Thanx
Unfortunately the mini flake buster is no longer made as far as I know, there are other companies offering similar dry flake guns online.
Coastairbrush.com has them in stock
where did you get the clear coat. where could i get minnie flak buster
what is this stuff which you spray before the flakes , is it normal clear coat or some other stuff ?
Pin strip would finish it off better in my opinion. Nice jog though. Really beautiful. Thanks for doing this
And dont pay attention on the negative comments. Its amazing how many experts are out there that post there comments but wont post a comment to back up there opinion.
Great video, I've been wanting to try this. What pressure are you dusting the flake on with?
hey, if i sent out 3 parts of a 1978 yamaha RD 400 tank and 2 side pieces, would you be able to paint them like a blue faded into white faded into red with those flakes? or something like that? thanks
I've done red, white and blue fade guitars before so yeah I could do it, the materials aren't cheap though.
i might just go with the purple like you did there (it is absolutely stunning) but all purple thru out or like an astro pop colors. give me some time to find another same year tank and side pieces on ebay for you so i dont wreck the originals if i decide to sell it to a "all original" guy down the road. Can you run the touch up gun and airbrush from the same compressor or are they two different set ups?
yup, I think using intercoat clear makes the flakes look hazy. I use ac2100 for everything the same mix too
Where Do I buy that airbrush attachment for metal flaking>> Thanks Glenn
the mini flake buster is available through old school flake.
thanks... Awesome work and great tutorial...
where did u buy the airbrush flake attachment ?
whats the color called i want to paint it the same in my car
Awesome work man. Just one question. When you spraying the flake are you shooting intercoat clear thru at the same time ? Or are you just using the air to push the flakes Thanks for your time
Just air, it's a dry flake application
prety nice paintjob looks realy cool
Good tunes in the backdrop
It looks like that flake buster is worth the money.
what is a clear coat, iam kinda new to this..
Also did you get that clear in LA? Where did you get it?
My question is where can i purchase de mini flake shooter i'm in Canada and i dont find it on the web thank you
I think they went out of business, website is gone.
Dude if you dontine answering what state do you live in? I just got a honda rebel and would love to have a candy red paintjob with red flake
Orange County California

It's a dry flake application
Thats wild, great vid.
Mind if I ask what Air pressure you're shooting at? I can't get my mini to shoot very consistent.
Victor Davis 45 psi it helps to tap the mini a bit and shake up the flake.
Danthefordfixer Awesome! Thanks for the tip!
+Danthefordfixer great work bro i was wondering if you can make a video on how to make a zarape pattern i have many friend that are painter but none of them want to give me a little lesson on how to if you can do that it would be nice thanks and keep on flaking
Dude you really need to wear a respirator with that clear coat. It's nasty stuff.
can you do stuff like that on plastic?
what color purple flake is this exactly?
Hi where did you buy the mini buster from and the air gun?
Did you pay 100 for that flake buster?
I'm starting to do a bike. Would you just sand the original
That was awesome
the mini flake buster is available from old school flake
What air pressure are you running at?
LOL! , I expected a low amount of flake from that airbrush , and then a flake cloud appeared xD , where did you get the flake sprayer?
Hello! is this attachment no longer sold?
No this one is no longer made, Coast Airbrush sells a very similar one that works the same way.
I just use two regulators to get the pressure low enough to run the airbrush and a another reg and dryer set up on the touch up gun
great job brother.hope I can come close
was that a black base coat
the mini flake buster is from old school flake and the airbrush is a iwata from ebay
good music in the back ground ;-)
I found my new hobby when I retire!
spraing clear in garage...your neighbors have to love you... and lern to do it in the wright way...
spraing.... lern.... wright .... maybe learn how to write before giving stupid comments.

Andre Kick ..... he even spelt his surname wrong and used a K instead of a D lol.
hehe ... good one... i see the solvents start working in your nervous system... martin" vegetable" allen
thanks man my dream is to paint a vtx1800
Are you using the same clear for both processes? 1: for the flake to stick to and 2: for final clear?
how to make paint really wet look
could you do this on car rims?
Yes
I have only used roth brand, its the best
Thanks man most helpful
it won't look as good, as you saw I used a touch up gun for the final clear, the airbrush would leave it too thin to be really shiny and deep
Dan how can someone reach you? Do you have a website or email?

good work , but sadly when you post videos you'll get talent-less losers commenting ,
