    They need a heck ya! button for the videos that are over the top..... I have always wanted to air brush, and do, to some degree. At 52 YO I wonder if I can get to the level I want in a short period of time. Paints are so expensive. Love your video sir. You take the time to explain all the moves.

    Bob Ross, still the number one Artist, and I still watch his show, to bad he's gone.Your style of airbrushing is different and cool....I dig the rivets and torn metal.

    Hello, very curious on your video and was wondering if it was possible for you to do a tree download of those rivet strips so one can easily download that. Design into computer and print would be very helpful. Thank you very much. Keep up the good work man

    If the riveted metal straps say where painted in a [ + ] pattern, how would you make the vertical bar look like it is bent over the horizontal bar…as if the horizontal bar is protruding out?
    I hope this makes sense of what I’m asking.
    I’m in the middle of a project that I have faux black iron bars with 1 1/2” rivets… 1 rivet in the center of the plus sign followed by rivets each side but I don’t know how to add the extra dimensions.

    Instead of putting all those dots on each of the "holes", would it make sense to create a small circular stencil to do the outside part?
    A pop stick with a circle at the end?

    • @coasmechteranic
      @coasmechteranic  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      That could definitely work, however, you would have to spray around the stencil support, and don't forget you're actually spraying two colors here-black for the shadows and white for the highlights/leading edge. I didn't spray white in this video because the panel is white...maybe I'll do a rivets revisited video?

      Jack Bias Thanks for the reply. I tried it with a piece of hard clear plastic. It worked okay but I am a total newbie so the results were pretty average. Keep up the great work! I'm loivin your channel!

    Ok, suggestion. I have only done 3 airbrush jobs and long time ago, so not very experienced. When the tip starts to dry and acumulates paint (and therefor reduces the nozzle area) i use to have a pencil with thinner, i washed the tip with it, sprayed somewhere else,(to remove thinner excess) and moove along with the job. Is that how you do it?

    • @coasmechteranic
      @coasmechteranic  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup, pretty much... I just clean the tip with my fingers, but tip dry is inevitable...

    Hey there, great tutorial, I have a question I am doing my own first car project and would like to know if you have any tips on how you would go about doing the torn metal effect on a black background ? As realistic as possible. many thanks Jane.

    • @coasmechteranic
      @coasmechteranic  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yeah, that's gonna be a tough one. I'd do the "torn" part with silver or a white pearl. That's a given. but for the surrounding parts where the shadows need to be, you might consider changing the color a bit, or making that part look rusted. Good Luck.

    I just did checker board on the wheel pants of my little 150 cessna, wanted to make it look like the paint was peeling off the tips of them and have like a aluminum skin under tore off paint, so instead of painting the black, I'd just spray aluminum instead? the wheel pants are really pointy in the front, well they really look like the body of a fish. would be kinda cool to see you do a video on something that looks like that, I'm kinda scared to do the paint being tore off because the cheater board turned out so nice and the rivets and tore paint might be a little much being I've never done it before, kinda chicken.

    • @hangoverradiocontrolled3472
      @hangoverradiocontrolled3472 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup, just substitute the silver for the black. You will still need to do some shading of course, and I would use a different color for the "underside" of the paint which has peeled. Maybe a dark-ish metallic blue? Not too dark or the shading may not show. Just remember, it's only paint. It can be fixed.

    Do you need to prep the clear coat before airbrushingl to make it stick? Great Vid.

    • @coasmechteranic
      @coasmechteranic  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Marc Light absolutely, yes. clear needs to be de-greased and prepped. Usually, I scuff the surface with a Scotch-Brite and Dawn dish soap. Here's a vid I made on "panel prep," it's not exactly an answer to your question, but I think it may help... th-cam.com/video/yAzw8BBsZwg/w-d-xo.html

    • @coasmechteranic
      @coasmechteranic  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Airbrushtutor did a video with some rock textures a while back. It involved spraying thru a pencil(?) to do a quick stipple texture. I'll see if I can find a link. Are you tying to make a painting of a rock, or paint something to make it look like a polished, finished granite counter top?

    It's nice work you must have been a t-shirt guy before cuz it has that t-shirt look and nothing wrong with that it looks good and then I'm assuming that's just a demonstration that you're doing on that fender it's not a fender that goes on some vehicle I've been airbrushing for 22 23 years and I enjoy doing it I just now order me a harbor and silverback and it's not right I don't know how to say it anyway a new airbrush is supposed to be really good I'm going to try it out and see how it is anyway it was nice getting to see you do this and thank you for your effort to help people understand airbrushing main living Lord Jesus Christ bless you under endeavor as you try to teach people I also was a teacher for probably 18 19 years I don't I lost track of time anyway may you be blessed as you keep going as you work to show other people how to do airbrush tricks I don't really like calling them tricks because they require talent and they require effort but anyway good luck on your your videos I hope someday to make some myself

    Nice work, but I think you would stress on the use of a resperator. I airbrushed for years without. Then wound up in the hospital. My lungs shut down I almost died for being stupid. Also bring the whole thing to life with using some highlights both on the rivets and the bend in the metal. Make them pop.

    You could put a bit of masking tape, or clear vinyl on the dots to transfer them all to the panel, or what ever you are painting in one go. Anyway, nice video.

    • @coasmechteranic
      @coasmechteranic  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've tried to transfer the dots (rivet heads) in bulk with transfer tape... It doesn't work. There's just too many of the darn things, and I can't get them to line up without my art looking sloppy. Hence, the "tedious" method I use. Your mileage may vary...

    What kind of paint are you using ?

    • @coasmechteranic

      Createx. Most likely, opaque black for the shadows.

    • @dfin4588
      @dfin4588 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jack Bias Is the createx paint you are using just a normal water based acrylic? Are you able to clear coat over it?

    • @coasmechteranic
      @coasmechteranic  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hugh Jasol yup, water based Createx. I've painted many things with these paints and spraying a 2K clear over top has never been an issue.
