When I lived in China, I saw my of my adult students start businesses and they would often present their ideas to me to get my opinion. I can't remember once ever saying "That seems like a good idea, you should give it a try." From my perspective, Chinese businesses are pure copycat style -- one person makes something successful and then 100 more similar shops will pop up. Even my ex girlfriend said the same thing happens over and over in her hometown. She recalled how once there was a computer custom-build and repair shop to open and was quickly the go-to, popular place, but within months the entire street had suddenly become "PC Street" as many other copycat shops opened and, later, they all had to shut down. It's insane how they do this over and over. While I was there, the trends I saw were cake/pastry shops and milk tea shops. They were literally everywhere -- and none of the ones my students opened were successful. Nobody listened to me.
