Here is my beef with just about EVERY rifle maker these days. Stop cutting the barrels off!! 24" is short enough. You cut the velocities off by shortening the barrels. Stop it. I do not want my hunting rifle to have a 16" barrel. WTW, if you talk to some of the guys making the rifles ask about why everyone is doing that now. My 308 with a 24" barrel vs one with a 20" barrel? Big loss of velocity. (depending on the gun, it will be 20 to 30 fps per inch lost). I do not want the balls cut off the cartridge due to making the barrel short. Sorry, a pet peeve of mine currently. My fun factor for recoil as I age has decreased. 30-06 is my limit. It is an old cartridge, but with handloads and modern powders? It does not play second fiddle. At ethical distances, it works well.
I'm a dime behind you, but you're correct. They were practically lying around all my relatives houses on the farms. It was pretty much assumed the 30-06 was to be used for hunting and my uncle's used them in competitions all the time.
I had an old Remington 30-06 that just wouldn’t group consistently, so I turned it into a custom 6.5-06 for my son. I bought a Bergara last year and a Tikka the year before in 30-06 because I liked the cartridge. The Tikka shot better, so I turned the Bergara into a a custom 284 Winchester. The Tikka 30-06, completely stock, is one of the best shooting guns I own and with Lapua brass being pretty reasonably priced for the 30-06, it is hard to beat this gun/cartridge for a do everything hunting gun. I see 30-06 rifles readily available in Tikka, Bergara, and Ruger at Scheels and Sportsman’s around here. I haven’t looked at the other brands. Factory loads are cheaper than most other cartridges, and so is brass. A 178 grain ELDX shooting consistent 1/2-3/4” groups at 2875 in a 22” barrel, 8lb scoped rifle will run with most modern cartridges out there. I haven’t looked for other brands. I have plenty of other guns( stock and custom), but if I only had my Tikka 30-06, there isn’t much I couldn’t do with it. I like trying to optimize the classic cartridges to see if I can make them run with the modern cartridges. The 284 Winchester in a 20” barrel and modern bullets is a good one, and a new Tikka 243 with the 1:8 twist barrel shoots the modern 6mm bullets just as good as the 6 Creedmoor. The modern cartridges are great too, but I wish more TH-camrs would spend a little more time showing what is possible with old cartridges and modern components. A lot of people have old rifles, and guidance to optimize them with modern bullets and powder, instead of replacing them, would probably be appreciated.
I like 24" barrels but most manufacturers are making 22" barrels except for the magnums. That Savage/Stevens 334 from Turkey only had a 20" barrel for the 308, Too short for my liking. I hunt the Maine woods and I can't think of a time where I thought " I wish this barrel was a couple of inches shorter". Even my Marlin's are the 336A with 24" barrels.
In an era where everyone is trying to get the newest and greatest rifle cartridge, it’s good to see the ol 30-06 still getting its limelight. Can’t wait to see the groups!
My first center fire rifle was a Savage 111 pre accutrigger in 30-06. It was recommended to by a buddy who was a SWAT sniper instructor. With hand loads on a good day got .4 inch 3 shot groups at 100 yards. Thanks for the video!
0:51 Last time I checked every manifacturer had .30-06 offerings in damn near every rifle I looked at. I think it would be harder to find a rifle that doesn't offer .30-06 than the other way around.
When NY legalized rifle use where I hunted, I bought the least expensive rifle I could find. It was a Marlin XL 30-06 I still use it and 30-06 has always been one of my favorite cartridges. The 334 looks like a good entry level rifle and I am looking forward to your sight in and any ammo tests you do with it. As always great content. Keep it coming!
Hey Hoo Tee just picked up a Savage Axis 3006 at Walmart for $ 342.00 with an acutriger ! Oh it’s a stainless steal one also . For the new shooters out there the 3006 had taken ( All ) bear species Moose , Elk , deer , antelope and most African game . Is it the best for any one thing, no but it will do everything with the correct bullet ! One of the best cartridges of all time !…….
My first rifle was a Savage 110E in 30:06. My wife bought it for me at J C Penney’s in Springfield Mall in Springfield VA in 1976 when I was in the USCG stationed at USCG Hdqtrs in DC. A Bicentennial baby, it came with a cheap finished walnut stock with a cheap 4X Japanese scope. I still have it. STILL shoots sub moa at 100 yds with a Bushnell 3200 Elite 3x9, 165 Gr Sierra’s & H4350 & a cheap plastic Ramline stock I had professionally bedded in the 80’s when I was stationed in SE Alaska, a rain forest. The standard caliber almost everything is compared to. My Dad carried his M1 30:06 in France in the 40’s. I hope it never loses its popularity. Good choice in that 334. Can’t wait to see how it shoots. 😊
I got one of these 334’s in the synthetic stock last year in 308 & it shoots sub moa with the cheap Winchester power points all day ! The action is rougher than anything I’ve ever had but the accuracy of this $300 rifle rivals way more expensive bing bangs that I have. I highly recommend the 334
Savage makes some really accurate rifles for a low price but, it is still a mass produced rifle so there will be very accurate ones and not so accurate ones. There is some luck involved when you buy. This applies to any rifle maker who makes them on an assembly line, I am not trying to beat up on Savage. I have traded numerous cheap rifles because I am an old guy who likes to try out rifles for accuracy at the local range. Out of dozens of cheap rifles, I found two who had exceptional accuracy - a Savage in 270, and a Marlin SX7 in 243. There were others who had good consistent accuracy but many did not so they got sold, I kept the 243 and sold the Savage 270 to a friend who kept pestering me about it. There was no problem selling the ones which had good accuracy for more than I paid to hunters from the range once they saw the groups. So yes, some cheap rifles can have good accuracy. As for Savage, it stands behind its products and if you get a bad rifle, it will fix it if you don't mind sending it in and getting it back.
Always been a rifle guy (as a kid, through my 20 in AF, post mil retirement). Then got into handguns…… your channel made me fall back into love with rifles…. Thanks!!!
My hunting core group all carry the 3006 because when one of us screws up and gets to the field and forgets their ammo, the hunt doesn’t stop. I love the wood stock for sure!!
I just on the savage arms site. I want a 334 in .270. I like the wood. I’m not a fan of the synthetic stocks. I bought a Savage American model 16 with a fluted barrel stainless steel barrel and A beautiful wood stock. The owner of the sports shop had gone the shot two weeks earlier and brought it back to Virginia. He showed to me and instantly I had to have it! My friend, Ed, the shop owner new my likes and preferences. I was a good Customer. His shop was my Tolivers.
Love the Thuddy-aught-Six! Mine's a Husqvarna 1640, and that thing's dead nuts on out to 200. The only thing I'd be worried about in the 334 in '06 is too little mass in the a$$ and a bit too much recoil, especially in a heavier bullet, say 180+. On the other hand, this is a hunting rig, not a benchrest tackdriver, so recoil isn't as big a deal.
Was just on the Savage site and was looking at these rifles. The 06 and 270 come with 20 barrels and a twist rate of 1-11. Ok for bullets on the lighter side. I think that a faster twist would better stabilize heavier bullets.
This takes me back to when I was a kid and looking at the savage bolt action rifles at KMART the .270 and 30.06 was the only 2 calibers ever there. Love it! Thanks Savage for being Consistent. And thanks Who tee for the content!
Thanks for looking out for the not so flush brother, I know people who want to get into hunting who can't afford to drop a fortune , heck I've taken your advice a few times. God bless brother.
After watching your 6.5 video, I went and got one at my local academy sports and outdoors. The only had 1 tan synthetic in stock. Y’all will never guess the price I paid.
I did too in 6.5 spiderweb stock first two groups I got 3/4 moa the trigger doesn’t seem as bad as what the wooden one looks like, with just 140 grain core lokt . Now reloading some 127 lrx I hope they do just as good I’m expecting even better … but that impressed me anyway.
I just got a 300 blackout. Its’s an ar pistol with a 7.5 inch barrel. I’ve been reloading for it and got some sierra 110gr varminters. But all I can think about is loading some of those 110s for my 30-06. It’s gonna be awesome! But that is one of the best things about 30-06, the versatility and range of bullets. It really is a reloader’s pet cartridge.
You’re the plug buddy. I bought a 334 in 6.5 soley because you reviewed one and you’re top notch. Big budget friendly guy here only chasing whitetails for now. Big big fan of ya buddy keep up the good work and keep producing content! I picked my 334 at academy for $299 beans they had some sort of sell wasn’t wood nor the black synthetic. Pretty sweet gun!
The 1st rifle I ever bought was a Model 70 Featherweight 30-06 w/a Leupold Vari-X II in 1955. I traded in a Savage Model 99 w/mannlicher stock w/a Texan fixed 6X chambered in 250-3000 caliber & $100 boot to get the 70. My Dad had given me the 99 in 1954 for my 1st deer hunt with him. I still have the rifle today but I never shoot it anymore. It loves handloads using 4064 powder. My current favorite rifle is a Savage 110 Ultralite in 28 Nosler w/a Fierce titanium brake topped w/a Athlon ARES ETR GEN2 UHD 4.5-30. I handload using 178 gr Hornady ELDX bullets that I sent off & had LubLox applied chemically using 109 gr of RL19. This rifle combination is the flattest shooting hardest hitting at any range you can shoot. I gave up using my Weatherby Accumark in 30-378 w/ handloads the same as the 28 except for using 118 gr of RL19. For some reason the 7mm bullets just penetrate faster & kill more instantly than the 30's at least on the 350+ field dressed Mule deer I shoot. You just can't go wrong using a Pre '64 Win 70 or Savages of any era.
I am surprised from such a cheep price, having a rail plus heavy barrel with consistency precision, you really are teaching me something here. God bless you. Ps: I am always looking at all your video. I’m a fan and your presentation is very good!
Beautiful rifle can't wait to see it. My go to cal is a 30-06. My first one was passed down to me by my grandfather. 1903 springfield. I have 4 or 5 rifles in 30-06. Incase you missed my comment in you 270 wsm. Video. The A Bolt trigger can be adjusted. I own 3 of them love the action. 7mag 270 and 30-06.
I live in ohio where we can only use shotgun and straight walled cartridges to hunt deer. Where I live, there's probably a couple fin feather and fur stores, a bass pro, 2 dunhams, couple smaller gun shops all within a 45 minute radius and quite a few more within 60 miles. I can go to any right now and they have 308 30-06 300 win mag 7mm rem mag guns in stock. Also ammo all the way up to 50 bmg. I just picked up a used never fired except from factory savage axis 30-06 for $300 and a used never fired savage axis XP ii in 22-250.
I’ve got an 80s model 700 in 30-06 that will live as long as I do. It shoots every factory load I’ve ever put in it under an inch, some much less. A lot of cartridges are more appealing because of advertising, but it’s a one in a lifetime rifle. If I change the chambering, I’d probably have to spend a lot of money to get it to shoot like it does now, but that ol’ 06 has always done whatever I asked it too. It’s mostly a safe queen now, but it has taken truck loads of deer in my youth. 15+ a season for several years, so when I say truckloads I mean it. If I had the time and money, I’d go do Eric Cortina’s challenge with it, confidently.
I love Backfire to, but this is where Jim misses the boat. East of the Mississippi River, 30-06 is still king in the deer woods and EVERYBODY makes a bolt action 30-06. I have three: Remington, Browning and a Sako.
Another great video in a long line of them. One thing that I see with firearm videos is that some either show the new toys or the next best thing. These creators fail to see that a majority of hunters and firearm owners are not wealthy or collectors. They are substance hunters or pinkers who dabble in hunting. They will pick a versatile platform that won't break the bank either for firearm or ammo purchases. Whoteewho is one of the few who understands this, and his blue collar, no nonsense approach in his videos, is refreshing. 30.06 will be around at least another hundred years. Keep the great content coming.
I like your honesty in your reviews ! The 30-06 will NEVER go away or loose it’s appeal because of its versatility as a cartridge, 70gr. Varmint up to 220gr bullets which will take out anything on the planet. Ron Spomer champions the 30-06 as the “most versatile “ cartridge. It’s the .308 that he is not crazy about. I do have a model 70 30-06 that proves it’s awesome abilities !
Love 30-06. Got a Rem 700 sporting a Brux interrupted fluted barrel with factory DBM. I bought 6 identical Tikka T3x Hunters in 30-06. Converted three to 280AI, one to 708, one to 6.5-284 Norma. Left one intact. Then I bought 2 stainless Tikka T3x 30-06s. The stainless pair and my custom shoot Berger 185 VLDs tightly
Yep,but everything else will rust out in no time flat. Just keep it in a climate controlled safe or absolutely never hunt with it in the rain and it may look good for a minute.
@@tom7719 The 334 is made in Turkey and Savage's site says the stock is made with Turkish walnut. Also, did you see the walnut on WHO_TEE_WHO's 334 in 6.5 Creedoor? It's gorgeous. It's definitely Turkish walnut.
Love your content on the rifle side… but it’s very state/ jurisdiction dependent. Most utilitarian would be a 12, 16, or 20 gauge shotgun that comes with a great slug barrel- in short, a rifle in shotguns clothing. Can take winged game, and four legged critters and with the right round up to 200 yards. Now the state dependent part- some states ( Midwest) do not allow necked cartridge rifle hunting for their big game. Additionally, some countries do not allow military cartridges to be civilian owned. Long drawn counter point I know…. But I enjoy the choice 30-06 is a dang good round and more animals have been taken with it than most cartridges ever will ever take. Good stuff
Where I live (Northeast Louisiana) I've never even SEEN a whitetail deer at over 100 yards. I've never even had to shoot over 40 yards! The .308 has always been more than enough. A lot of hunters here use .270's and 30.30's for their deer rifles. The 30.06 is still popular, but its because they're still using Daddy's, or Grandpa's old rifle and it still shoots straight and will definitely do the job.
The 30-06 isn't my favorite and definitely wouldn't be my first choice for an 'everything' gun as I'd probably lean towards the 7 Rem Mag, but the 30-06 would be way up there. For my actual needs, I'd probably go with 7mm-08 but I don't make it out west. I have two 30-06s. Lighter one is an older 110 from 1982 and one is a Ruger M77 from 1968-ish. Both shoot fantastically well. Have a coworker than has a 334 in 308 that was about $300 topped with a Tract scope that was also about $300. For $600 total, a guy could do a WHOLE lot worse.
Awesome very nice rifle, my dad's favorite a do all caliber 30-06, he got a moose and huge black bear in Alaska no problem, many many whitetail in the lower 48.
First new rifle i ever bought was a Savage 110 E in 1982 when Monky Wards was leaving Oklahoma. Still have it my oldest son has it waiting to pass on to one of his sons.
WHO-TEE, I currently own a Winchester M70 in .30-06, and it was the cheapest rifle I could find. I’ve been contemplating on if I want to keep it, sell it, trade it, or even re-barrel it. I’m not happy with the current ammo prices, which is causing this decision. For years, I wanted a .308, but the prices of .308 rifles were not within my budget, which led me to purchasing the Winchester instead. I’m now considering building a .308 rifle and keeping the Winchester too. I’ve even been considering adding a 6.5 Creedmore to the collection, but with the ammo prices the way they are, I’m having second thoughts on it. I’m even considering loading my own ammo to help cut down on the costs, but the initial cost for everything to load/reload is again, causing the second guessing of doing this. So as you can see, I’m stuck at this crossroad and second guessing myself. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Jim has no clue. He is a yuppie after yuppie type calibers and rifles. 30-06 has been the meat and potatoes for the last 100 years. Its filled more freezers and fed more Americans than most any other caliber.
I’ve been looking for a 30-06. I’m new to hunting. I borrowed a Ruger American (from the 70’s?) for deer season. I tell ya, there are soooo many options (even just among Savage) that I’m lost. 334, Axis, Axis 2, 110, American Gen 2, Patriot … and what does the higher $$ buy you? Does cold & snow change priorities for features?
You might want to read the information on that barrel again, Ruger American rifle's didn't come out until 2012. They definitely haven't been out 50 year's!
I don't know where Jim came up with his conclusion on the availability of rifles in 30-06. Sportsman's Warehouse shows the 06 available from 13 different companies.
Man luv that heavier barrel on a 3006 usually u get a pencil barrel for cheap I would not mind having that at all make a good reload it's just as good as any rifle at higher price point great video yea Savage
There will always be a 30-06 in my safe other chamberings come and go. My budget rifle that shoots lights out is a Thompson Center Venture 30-06 it may not always be my main gun for hunting but it always makes the trip as my backup rifle.
Old Guy with a belt buckle here.I have the Stevens 334 in 243. and it shoots lights out. trigger is a little creepy but the accuracy makes up for it. $ 535. Canadian. love this gun. PS. it has a better trigger than my Axis.
The Remington 788 rifle was one of the cheapest and in my opinion the best rifles Remington ever made, and the accuracy often surpassed the 700. Which is why I heard Remington stopped making the 788. Cheap doesn't always mean bad.
I have the 6.5 with the 22" barrel in a 334 all the others are 20". 1/2" groups all day using Hornady American whitetail I played with the trigger and got it down to 2 pounds. For the money you can't beat it. Cheapest wood stock rifle on the market. You can't buy a used wood stock rifle for the price of these. Awesome!!!!!!!
One of the most accurate rifles i ever owned was a savage 340, not 3006 but 225 Winchester, 10 shots at a 100 cover with a dime, had a wood stock savage 110 that was 3006 that was almost as accurate but kicked like a small mule, if im not mistaken i saw the 334 at Walmart for 367 if im not mistaken but all they had was a 243 and 6.5 in stock.
Looks very much like the Springfield Armory 2020 made by Retay manufacturing. Only about 7 hours from Istanbul where ATA manufacturing facilities makes the 334 for Savage.
Looks similar to my tikka t3x hunter. Shoots like it too. I’ve had great accuracy from all my older savages, and the Steven’s 200 I have is a tack driver too
I dig it. Reminds me of my 1st rifle. Savage 30.06. It was like $300, came w a Bushnell scope. Not bad, nothing fancy. Then I fell victim to a red flag (not in sc) which has led me to do what I'm doing now and even helped get CC passed in SC. I'll always have a special place in my heart for savage and 30.06
I don’t like it when people write off a decent factory trigger. If you dry fire a bit, polish a little and shim any lateral wiggle out, they can be greatly improved. I shim all my trigger housings, triggers and trigger blades, takes about 25-50% of the creep out of my Rugers. Throw in a reduced spring and you got a 2lb trigger that is surprisingly good. Besides, when you start gutting them out and throw in aftermarket parts you can easily run into fitment issues. 👍
I got a quick question I bought that cascade 22-250 varmit hunter and inside stock sounds. Like has bb rolling around. Should I send it back and let them check it out. It’s not in the trigger group or nothing I took it loose from stock.
I have a stainless Tikka 30-06 that’s my go to whitetail rifle. It’s a lightweight tack driver. I can’t go cheap. I’m a southpaw so my choices are limited.
Just pulled up your 30-06 music video for my wife a couple weeks ago. Hadn’t seen it in a while. That is a funny video. I’m sure you’ll be sub moaing with this new rifle setup.
In my day you could buy 06 ammo any were a gas station hardware store and I have gone hours away from home and for got my ammo and just pull in a gas station and grab a box and go the good old days me I have one 06 it's a colt coltsmen and yes it born in 1958 but guess what it brings home the venison every year
There have been a ship load of cartridges developed to compete with the 30 06 come and go. Most of them we can't even remember. For all-around performance it is going to be hard to beat for the same reason a wheel is hard to beat. The balance of powder capacity, bullet caliber and performance at given velocity is what works. The taper feeds and extracts. Everything is a compromise, and this is a proven collection compromises. If you want to shoot extreme long range and are willing to sacrifice chambering and extraction reliability in adverse conditions. Adding a tight AI chamber and fast twist rate and high BC bullets will make it perform similar modern wizz bang cartridge developed.
I’d have to say that there are many great tools nowadays to pick from. I’ve hunted big game for years with 30/06 everything from accelerator boo lots light weight to the 220 grain (I think it was) but I’ve never had any issues of any kind. There may be newer stuff that works better for others but as for myself, I may own others but the older hand still serves me well. Thanks as always WTW, stay safe you and yours brother. 🔫🎥👑
My 334 in 6.5 Creedmoor is the most accurate rifle i own. Shoots .5 groups and below at 100 and less than 1 inch groups at 200. Mine is a wood stock model. The trigger is very vague, but the pull isn’t heavy

Woohoo 🙌🎉🙌
Would like to see your FPS out of that 30-06 with the 20" barrel. Last I looked, they were using 20" barrels on those.

I work in a major gun store and I haven’t noticed any drop in the 30/06 calibre by manufacturers nor in sale demands. Thanks for sharing.
👍👍
Good for your area an shop.. Unfortunately not they way in mine unless used which is fine. I've been told what few they get dont last long n new 06. They simply don't get that many in .😢
Is it my imagination or is CVA moving away from making 30-06 like in the Cascade.

@garyh1449 I noticed we can buy new Remington 700s in 26" barrels for some calibers. I was considering 7 Mag
I like watching Who, that backfire guy is not my cup of tea.
If you’re looking overall at what’s available yes, but if you look at any new rifles that came out in the last 5 years, 30-06 is not a thing sadly.
Sweeeeet
Great choice
Nice. Mine was a savage axis 30.06 but didn't have the accutrigger 😢 haha
Have owned many calibers but have always went back to 06 ! Raised 4 kids on venison! 30 06 always works !
🦌🦌🦌
I bought a Savage American model 16 with a fluted barrel stainless steel barrel and
A beautiful wood stock.
Whatever the question 30 06 is always the answer!
My Savage 334 cost $39 from Sears & Roebuck 👍🏻
Modern high bc bullets and powder the old 30-06 along with the 270 win is very alive and well and preform soooo much better than even 20 yrs ago.
Thanks for watching
My first big boy rifle was a tang safety Ruger 77 in 30-06. I bought it in 1971. Grandson still has it.
Awesome!
30-06 has been made forever and it's less expensive than other newer.30 caliber variants 💯
After watching your 6.5 video, I went and got one at my local academy sports and outdoors. The only had 1 tan synthetic in stock. Y’all will never guess the price I paid.
$279.99+ tax
Your right I wont guess. Price?
@@JohnSolo-t5f $279.99 + tax. I know this because I bought the exact same one on sale at Academy Sports not too long ago. It's my most accurate rifle.
I got my 334 last week and have been waiting for WTW to do this video. Thanks Adam!
More soon!
Appreciate you watching
I really do like your content & style of presentation. I am a FAN!!!!
30-06 truly American
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I am surprised from such a cheep price, having a rail plus heavy barrel with consistency precision, you really are teaching me something here. God bless you.
Ps: I am always looking at all your video. I’m a fan and your presentation is very good!
Thanks for watching
That's exactly what I'm in the market for. Thanks!
🙏🙏🙏 I appreciate you watching
Easiest way to fix a trigger is uogradr the spring, or you can snip a few coils off the factory one..
How come this channel doesn’t have 5M subscribers? Great work. Greetings from Switzerland
That would be great
30-06 only rifle caliber I need. You the man who tee who.
Bingo. Thanks for watching!
That Turkish Walnut stock is real nice! 😊
Yep,but everything else will rust out in no time flat.
Just keep it in a climate controlled safe or absolutely never hunt with it in the rain and it may look good for a minute.
You aren’t getting Turkish walnut on a $300 rifle from any manufacturer.
@@tom7719 The 334 is made in Turkey and Savage's site says the stock is made with Turkish walnut. Also, did you see the walnut on WHO_TEE_WHO's 334 in 6.5 Creedoor? It's gorgeous. It's definitely Turkish walnut.
@@tom7719 look up the Stevens 334 specs on the Savage website before you comment.
Good stuff
06 is never a bad choice. 👍WTW
My favorite old Remington wood master
Awesome very nice rifle, my dad's favorite a do all caliber 30-06, he got a moose and huge black bear in Alaska no problem, many many whitetail in the lower 48.
First new rifle i ever bought was a Savage 110 E in 1982 when Monky Wards was leaving Oklahoma. Still have it my oldest son has it waiting to pass on to one of his sons.
Nice-looking gun love the wood and blue wing
If it were me I'd trade it. Remarrying and all that will cost almost as much as another gun
Jim has no clue. He is a yuppie after yuppie type calibers and rifles. 30-06 has been the meat and potatoes for the last 100 years. Its filled more freezers and fed more Americans than most any other caliber.
Agree!
A good looking set-up.
@ I read the barrel; it’s a Ruger M77.
I don't know where Jim came up with his conclusion on the availability of rifles in 30-06.
Sportsman's Warehouse shows the 06 available from 13 different companies.
Been wanting a 30-06 and i think you just made up my mind for me. Can't wait to see the ammom test.
Man luv that heavier barrel on a 3006 usually u get a pencil barrel for cheap I would not mind having that at all make a good reload it's just as good as any rifle at higher price point great video yea Savage
The best thing about 3006 is that its still available and easy to get for milsurp
$359 for any caliber with synthetic stock and $469 for the one you just showed in a bunch of models.
By my house.
There will always be a 30-06 in my safe other chamberings come and go. My budget rifle that shoots lights out is a Thompson Center Venture 30-06 it may not always be my main gun for hunting but it always makes the trip as my backup rifle.
30-06 is the GOAT 🐐
But the .35 whelen is better lol
I agree 100%. If I could only have one rifle, in the sage, it’d be a 30-06. If you don’t mind saving up, Weatherby has a model 307 that is awesome!
The 06 isn’t going anywhere but up in popularity because you can afford ammo and there is a loading for anything you can hunt in the USA.
Man yeah love your video thank you for the info on these gun have a good day sir
Thanks for watching
Looks similar to my tikka t3x hunter. Shoots like it too. I’ve had great accuracy from all my older savages, and the Steven’s 200 I have is a tack driver too
I don't mind the 30-06, but the 300WM is my fav overall. Also, I signed up for the newsletter quite a while ago but haven't seen it yet?
I dig it. Reminds me of my 1st rifle.
Savage 30.06. It was like $300, came w a Bushnell scope. Not bad, nothing fancy.
Then I fell victim to a red flag (not in sc) which has led me to do what I'm doing now and even helped get CC passed in SC.
I'll always have a special place in my heart for savage and 30.06
Your shooting is crazy good Who. That rifle is a no brainer, just got back from Gun Zone and bought one for myself, Thanks for another great video,
I don’t like it when people write off a decent factory trigger. 👍
RELOADS. 3006. 200GR BULLET 3000FPS. 26 INCH BARREL ACCURATE NO PRESURE. SAME AS 300WM BUT CHEAPER LESS RECOIL
Great review. Get some lower rings for that scope.
Nah. That isn fudd lore. Rings are just fine
That’s a nice looking 30-06.
your front scope ring clamp is mounted crooked on the picatinny rail on right side in the video
Yup. Fixed it
Hey Buddy listened to you ordered a cva cascade varmitit in 22-250 have to go do paperwork Tom
Awesome, you will love it.
@@WHOTEEWHO thank you for your help and videos. I bought a 6x18x44 vortex scope now have to figure out if need medium or high rings for that one
I got a quick question I bought that cascade 22-250 varmit hunter and inside stock sounds. Like has bb rolling around. Should I send it back and let them check it out. It’s not in the trigger group or nothing I took it loose from stock.
I bought a win 70 in 270. My friend had a 7mm mag. I sold the 270 and bought a ruger 7mm mag. Still habe the ruger. Wish I had the win.
I have a stainless Tikka 30-06 that’s my go to whitetail rifle. It’s a lightweight tack driver. I can’t go cheap. I’m a southpaw so my choices are limited.
Thanks for the Video Adam 👌.
I Love my Savage 30.06.
I Love All my Savages 💛👍.
Cheers 🙏🇨🇦✝️
Just pulled up your 30-06 music video for my wife a couple weeks ago. Hadn’t seen it in a while. That is a funny video. I’m sure you’ll be sub moaing with this new rifle setup.
🤣🤣🤣 that was a fun video
Thanks for the video, love your channel
Thanks for watching!

In my day you could buy 06 ammo any were a gas station hardware store and I have gone hours away from home and for got my ammo and just pull in a gas station and grab a box and go the good old days me I have one 06 it's a colt coltsmen and yes it born in 1958 but guess what it brings home the venison every year
When I lived in Idaho, I bought a 3006 because as every one else on here remembers you could buy ammo in a gas station.
Winchester 70 XTR 30-06, 130gr. Speer HP And of course, M1 Garand 30-06, Hornady 150gr. Spire pt., Sierra Game King HP 165gr. hand loads. Love 'em.
I have to disagree with Jim on this one: Bergara, Franchi, Winchester, Tikka still make plenty of 30-06 rifles, and they shoot great too
I got a 308 in the 334 a Walmart 378+ tax out the door. When to the range with hand loads and got half inch groups all day long
I’d have to say that there are many great tools nowadays to pick from. 🔫🎥👑
Thats a very nice looking model !
Thats a fine looking rifle. Got the Savage 110 in 06. Gonna look into this one in 243 or 308.👍🏻👍🏻🇱🇷
Check your front scope mount. The rail tab was not straight. Looked like it didn't tighten down right.
Fixed it 👍👍
I have one in 308. Have a basic sight in, haven’t really dialed it in. Recoil is a bit stiff for a 308 but easily tolerable
My 334 in 6.5 Creedmoor is the most accurate rifle i own. Shoots .5 groups and below at 100 and less than 1 inch groups at 200. Mine is a wood stock model. The trigger is very vague, but the pull isn’t heavy
Nice looking rifle. Hard to beat a 3006!
