- Here's a quick DIY on how to change the stock gear knob of a Peugeot RCZ with the optional aluminium item. You can order it at any Peugeot, Citroën or DS dealer.

Just changed the gator for a genuine leather one with grey stitching to match the dash, really useful video as I had to take the knob off to replace gator.

the metal knob needs a heating element for winter
And mostly a cooling system during summer. I used to burn my hand putting it into gear after it sat in the sun for a while.

The replacement gear-lever knob gets VERY hot in direct sunlight , as I found out today , too hot to touch.
Presumably on a very cold day it’s too cold to touch until the interior warms ip
Yes, I remember that. A bit inconvenient in the summer, but that's the price you pay for style. In the winter it's no problem.

Which knob is better and more comfortable to drive?
Sebastian Słonina Well after having it in for more than a year I really prefer the aluminium one. Did so right away; much more solid and makes the shifting nicer. The only trouble is in the summer when you leave the car parked in the sun the knob gets really burning hot. I wouldn't want to change it back though - the old one looks cheap and flimsy compared to the aluminium one ;)

You're welcome. They are between 50 - 60 Euro new, so don't pay more for a used one.
Do you know if the gear knob of the RCZ 2.0 HDI goes out like this as well?
It's all the same on all Peugeot, Citroën and DS models of that generation.
@@MotorScotti thank you. Because on the Peugeot site it shows that the gear knob that you have is not compatible with the diesel version. But if you say the gear knob goes out I can at least confirm if it's really compatible or not.

Well, as I mentioned in the video it's a Peugeot part and the part number is in the description. I think with that you'd be able to find one, even if it is the old fashioned way and having to call a Peugeot dealership and ordering the part. ;-)

I will never ever use metal knob again. Its OK in winter but leave car in summer on sun rays and you will start using piece of cloth or another protection to be able to shift. My metal knob was so hot I couldnt shift with bare hand. It was like flatiron.
TWITCHCHAN I know it can get pretty hot in the summer but it cools down quickly with the AC on. I wouldn't want to miss it in the world.

It didn't look like there was one. It just pushes on.
barry nicholas Exactly, there is no thread just a cross shaped head that you have to push in till it clicks.
A bigger knob is always better... right? 😂
