I think the tradeoff with goats is that they produce a lower volume of milk compared to cows, but the input (both in labor and monetary cost of feed) is much lower and the selling price per 1k liters is significantly higher. Plus goats (and sheep) will keep producing in pretty much any pasture (although I wonder if the building versions might speed up production, compared to the open pastures you've got?), where cows (and buffalo) need specific structures to actually give milk and reproduce. If you're selling the raw milk, goats still win as far as annual profit from the same number of animals vs cows, and buffalo is even lower than cows for profit from raw product, but sheep just barely edge out goats if you're considering pure profit from selling raw products. I think the numbers get a little tighter when looking at productions, but then there's a lot more to consider and balance if you don't want to end up with stalled productions waiting on inputs, or with surplus raw products waiting on space in the productions. Finding that balance is my least favorite part of creating production chains, personally, so I usually either stick to raw products or err on the side of surplus raw products that I sell off each year. At the end of the day it's all about fun though, right? Especially on this series where you've said there's not really any "end goal" beyond playing the map and having a good time learning new things. If goats aren't doing it for you because their milk production is so slow, then the end profit doesn't really matter and you should either add in another animal you find more enjoyable/interesting or just swap them out entirely for another option. Whatever you decide, keep having fun and that'll keep the quality of your content high, which in turn will keep all of us hanging around!
@@ThornedLily well said 😀 The enjoyment factor for goats comes from their animations and sound design. They are pretty funny to watch. I hadn’t thought about open pan vs a building….i might have to try that at some point to see if the results are better but in the end you’re right….the goal was really to have no goal but instead to enjoy the map and get used to FS25 so when you look at it that way the goats are perfect 🐐👍 Thanks for the great comment 😀😀👍👍
