Michael Noble I am sure there is. I fish my scuds in 8-12 and my sows in 14-18. This is a really big sow for me being a 10. I really like this stealth hook for my scuds and sows, www.stealth.fish/products/25-packs/ I am sure there are similar hooks in those brands. Look for scud hooks
@@Svenddiesel i mean it's expensive tying because the tungsten beads. I pay 5.50$ for 20 beads and when I need 6 for this fly, it's much more expensive than tying a regular sow bug. But I think I will do it, because this fly is so heavy and maybe I could need it sometimes. Thank you for this video, I've never seen a fly builded of tungsten beads. That's a very interesting idea, also because it is much more heavier than a regular sow bug.
Bertold Carl Ammer yeah the purpose was to get it down quick. I have another version called the “poor Mans Sow bug” where you use one Tungsten bead and 5 Czech glass beads. Much less expensive but doesn’t weigh near as much.
Now that is a cool fly.
Strong pattern design. Excellent video as always.
awesome little pattern you make it look easy..
bert19761 yeah it’s a quick tie, it’s a fun one to tie for sure.
Wow. Pretty badass fly!
Thanks man. A lot of fun to tie for sure
fantastic
Cool fly! Plus if you lose your anchor you have a couple extra in your box!
Bill Thomas for sure. That would definitely hold one steady.
Do you need the black light? Will it dry/harden without it?
The resin cures when activated with uv light so you would need a uv light or take it out into sun light to cure.
Love it. do you mind if I try this one
Black Stag Outdoors sure dude. It’s a fun tie
What size hook is that? Is there a comparable daiichi, tiemco, dairiki hook?

Nice and heavy fly, but damn expensive
Bertold Carl Ammer all relative to your situation. Costs about $1.30 in materials or you can buy a regular Sow Bug at the fly shop for $2.25 - $2.99
