    Home chef tip: rinse hashbrowns in cold water to remove starch prior to cooking, Additionally, pre-cook them a bit before putting in the casserole dish-- allows them to be crispier w/less "mush". Either way, they're tasty!

    I'm building out a 40' bluebird all amaerican and I've hit on diesel for heating the air, heating the water, and running the generator. Going diesel makes much sense. "Levaner" has some very reliable diesel products. I've nothing to do with them, Chuck Cassidy at chrome yellow recomended.

    I think that you're right that the van proves better for stealth camping and also agree with going with a 4x4 set up and possibly even adding a wench if you're serious about getting back into some deep dark spots, better to be overprepared. If I were you I'd write down a list of all the pros and cons your current set up has and how you can build off that making your next van that much better. I remember you saying something about not needing so much counter space because it cuts down on your gaming/computer area space, I think it'd be smart to build a portion of the counter to be foldable for when you need it, saving space for your computer/gaming/editing area. You know more than all of us though, so it'll be interesting to see what you come up with.

    In regards to new rig, it's easy - go with a boxed 3.5t. van/truck, search for the term "luton truck" (moving truck), or pick one of those UPS boxed ones, even better if you could find 4x4 😮 it will feel like a proper living space with actual corners instead of curled up quarters 🎉 you can fit a proper kitchen will all the bells and wistles, since this channel heavely rellies on cooking. Yes do the Marta Stewart 24kitchen remodeling, that's the direction you should be going to not kidding!!! Also do a 1h Live QA stream, and ask us for the suggestions there❤ video way great to watch.

    Ryan, look at where the tube meat was processed and what’s in it. And where it comes from. These days Cheaper meat means animals poorly cared for. Also u might consider grating ur cheese, ur eating a lot of cellulose with the preprocessed cheese. snow and Kurt have a good van build. Plans available for purchase.

    Ryan, I discovered Native deodorant a year ago. It's double the price of commercial deodorant, but worth it not to have the harsh chemical seeping into my skin. It lasts just as long as commercial brands, too. I will take you up on your 20% discount. Have been a big fan of yours for the last 30 episodes. Your a regular guy, not trying to prove how great he is. Very down to earth. We enjoy your sincerity and insight.

    diesel drivetrains are good for long distance driving, and the fuel is cheaper per mile, but there are a lot of downsides as well. They are more expensive to buy, they are noisy, need time to warm up before driving, more difficult to find mechanics.

  • @frebor91
    @frebor91 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you built a van again you mentioned you would have gone the diesel-route for reliability. Besides improved mpg, I think actually your gas powered van makes more sense. When stuff brakes in diesels the repairs are more costly. You have emissions related stuff that can brake and that comes with it's cost to fix, a turbocharger that can go broken and that adds complexity, particle filter that (eventually) clogs, expensive sensitive injectors that operate at high pressure with it's own high pressure fuel pump and so on. Gas powered engines, especially a multiport injected one like yours stuff doesen't brake as much and is less expensive to fix. Say for instance you went the route and got a van with a more frugal direct injection engine (more comparable to a modern common rail diesel but still thirstier than a diesel) you would depending on the engine load scenario see an improvement of 8-15 percent better mpg if the engine size is the same. That is cool obviously but then you have a engine that builds up carbon on the valves that needs to be cleaned from time to time (not cheap) and stuff again gets more expensive if it brakes. If you keep up with maintenance and frequent oil-changes odds are your pentastar engine will last you a long time without too much problems. Maybe change the oil from time to time on you gearbox too :-) Dig your channel btw!

    Fun fact: where you were camping after getting propane there is a railroad down there where a schoolbus crashed after getting hit by a train and everyone died sadly, and if you were to park there in neutral on the railroad your car would roll uphill, as if the kids there that died are pushing your car off the rails. This was in 1938. Keep up the good work :)
