      @@tonymontana897 to be honest, I don’t pay this much👆 in the uk. And if you are in the US I think there is some sort of DIY access. The reason for the video is that many professionals don’t know about the benefits of oem data vs generic, and that they can access it with this product. Not sponsored. I pay my subs😁 👍

    This information should be included as an appendix of the user's manual, and it should be given with every car on a CD. All owners must have a chance to do maintenance of their vehicles themselves. I remember when we had a Trabant as a kid, these service manuals were cheaply available in every bookstore for all popular car brands sold in our country. That book had the complete wiring diagram of that small east german car.

    • @crasher88
      @crasher88 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      on modern cars if you wanted the complete printed service data for a vehicle, and yes you can buy them they are available but they are not cheap, you buying a book(s) with multiple thousands of pages of documentation for disassembly, assembly, dct code description, theory of operation, trouble shooting trees, wiring diagrams, and connector pinout diagrams and locations.

    • @thpeti
      @thpeti 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That is why should be on a CD (1$ in cost, so it can be just put into an envelope with the owner's manual). Manufacturers have these available, so it won't cost them more than a few pennies. Governments must force manufacturers to publish this information for free.

  • @garybrown5500
    @garybrown5500 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Had a trial with Alldata & found the information was very suited to my work. But the thing that made me stay with Logicat was (and i don't know if this has changed?) they didn't have the facility for registration vehicle lookup. This probably isn't to much of a problem if you are familiar with the manufacturer you are working on, but for me seeing anything & everything out there I don't get to be able to quickly recognise the specific vehicle I'm working with.

    Thank you found your channel due to wanting to be able to use my scope to find more faults on cars. Small garage no ramps do lots of things others can't fix but starting to need wiring diagrams and don't like autodatas info. Been using another garages autodata and it's not nice to get around. This looks way better thought they were only USA but will definitely be using your link and signing up for a free trial. I am a sole trader who's not making much so hoping I can afford to get this full time. In the UK btw do electrical work but have struggled to get some of the modern cars apart due to how they are clipped together. Have a start stop fault ATM and have so far managed to get by with Google searches and TH-cam searches for wiring diagramsbor pinouts but it's hunting for hours sometimes to find one pin or wire on one model of car.

    I am lucky my local library has All Data available when you visit the library. The library also has a lesser service that I can access on my cellphone or computer. I would check if your local library has the same service. Only need the All Data like once a month or so so it's just not economic for my one person operation to subscribe to the full service. So check your library if you are in the same place.

    I used to be a fan of Alldatadiy, and I promoted their content online, until they raised their diy prices almost three fold. Now it's well over a hundred dollars for a three year subscription to one car. As a buy and hold vehicle owner, three years goes by quick, and then you need to repeat. As much as I like TSB's and interactive color circuit drawings, I can get a complete lifetime pdf copy of the dealer service manual for far less money. I wish Alldata would realize that the diy consumer may not look up data for a single vehicle more than a few times a year.

    Hi mate, just started to watch yr vids and really appreciate yr style of presentation..it helps all us diy ers wrsp our heads around it! Anyway, just wondered if u had any hints...i have a Renault master 2013 build van. Engine good, battery good, but no dash lights and no communication to ecu with any scan tool. The van wont start (i can jump it by bridging a screwdriver straight to startermotor)..
    The mechanic couldnt work it out, the auto electrician got to a point and then came unstuck as they are not specialist renault guys..there is power to ecu all fuses and relays good....they told me when doing resistance test on canbus system there is only 10ohms..should be 60..so, after watching some of yr vids, am i right in saying that the drop is due to an error in one of the canbus networks and it is a case of trying to locate where? Its booked in to go into renault next week so im hoping that they have the software to pinpoint the problem. From memory indicators and lights work, so i assume that thst part of network should be ok. Anyway, am i along the right lines as understsnding it? I will continue to watch yr videos and learn about canbus networks. Thank you again, and apologies for long message..if you got any tips or ever worked on renaults before and had something similar idlove to know..cheers👍👍😬

    Even though I don't need info very often, I would love to use Alldata, or Mitchell, or any one of the other sources other countries can access, but unfortunitely none of them are available here in Australia.
    I have no idea why, but it totally sucks.
    We have a lot of the same 'international' makes + model vehicles here as other countries, and I could actually get a lot more jobs that I have to turn down simply due to difficulty in accessing the information I when I do need it.
    I used to find BBB Industries was very helpful for wiring diagrams, but unfortunitely they disappeared a few years ago.
    Our only option seems to be Autodata, but for the cost per month/year, it's hard for me to justify unless they would offer a short term trial, or individual vehicle access to allow me to bring in some potential work to get me started, then knowing I could access the information I need, I could then be confident to take on more of the same sort of diags and justify a more regular subscription.
    I've found the most cost efficient way to source info is by purchasing a complete workshop/factory CD manual for each vehicle as needed on ebay etc, or purchase a downloadable manual in pdf/zip format, but they're often only available for popular or older makes/models, and with no search functions that can take up a lot of time sifting through thousands of pages to find what I need, and then I have to print off the pages of relevant info as needed, but it's much better than nothing at all.🤷‍♂️🇦🇺

    • @miceinoz1181
      @miceinoz1181 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, agree here, I tried to get access to (mitchell I think), gave them a call, and was told that they will not sell it to anyone but a business. As I am retired and fix cars to keep me occupied, thay would not accept selling a subscription to me. I currently have Ford, GM, Mistubishi and BMW at the moment, so need this info. I have used the VW manufacturer website for a paid short term access, but this is not really cost effective. This backwater of a country is very hard to keep in this business as we do not have a legal right to maunfacturer repair info like they do in the US. This country is a serious ripoff.

    We have used AllData, Identifix, and Mitchell, which we currently use. AllData, for some reason would always log me out and back in across the country at some other shop. Identifix was quite confusing to find what you were looking for, but I guess if it was all you had, you would get used to it eventually. They also seem to have multiple variations of schematics including OEM, Motor, and others... almost info overload. Mitchell's content is more consistently presented, but their re-drawn schematics leave a lot to be desired. It seems they try to consolidate too many years into a particular service info, that isn't always correct. Frustrating to say the least. I would almost like to give Identifix a second try.

    Hi Darren I have been working on a wiring repair video for a while now , I have contacted several manufacturers as part of my research as well as some youtubers , and would appreciate your input to what seems to be a contraversial topic ....... solder or crimp. As as Gm tech i follow their procedure when possible . Your thoughs or input would be welcome. Regards Joe
    Yet another great video thanks.

    • @MechanicMindset
      @MechanicMindset  ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting! The problem with soldering is that it’s inconsistent (you might be better than me). It’s a skill that has to be learnt. The crimp is consistent; we would get the same outcome. There is also different grades of solder and I understand some have flux which is basically corrosive right? So over time it could deteriorate. What did you find? 👍

      @ConesuelaLadyTailor ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Mechanic Mindset I was an apprentice TV repair man back in the seventies. Soldering was a doddle back then. Anyone could do it and it was 100% reliable. But since they have removed the 'harmful' stuff from the solder I find it to be a hit and miss affair and avoid it if I can.

    • @v4vauxhall498
      @v4vauxhall498 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MechanicMindset Hi Darren i always crimp where practicabale i only use quality duraseal or 3m crimps and kent moore/delphi crimp tools which gives consistant repeatable results that you dont get with solder.
      Most electrical solder is rosin core ,so wont corroded, it tends to be acid flux that gives problems as that is really only for copper pipe.
      When diagnosing i mentally include wiring as one of the systems ie pcm,abs etc , its sounds obvious but not always practiced, And theres of couse the helth issues with lead in solder as @colinreid7305 mentions.
      Regards Joe

    The weakness of those type of diagrams you have no idea how these wires are routed and where the components are. A case in point was a customer bringing in an Toyota who's tailgate electric window burned out. Wiring diagram showed it was most likely a short to ground but where? What was suspected maybe was a stereo system install a few weeks earlier but then where could the problem be? The saving was the factory manual that showed a visible car showing the routing of all the wiring and location of components. Really hard to find this type of diagram on any after market repair guides. With this diagram one could see the wiring going near one of the rear instaled speaker. Shure enough the speaker hole was cut with sharp shards where the wiring bundle caught itself on and shorted the gate motor control. Without this visible car diagram would have had to dismantle most of the interior to figure out a likely failure location.

      @tensago 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You need to know how to do the job, diagrams are a guide to the wiring circuits only.

    • @stanleytolle416
      @stanleytolle416 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@tensago Those diagrams don't show you where the wires are running or where the plugs and components are. This is why visible car diagrams are needed. Problem is visible car diagrams are not usually shown in most after market tec programs. With cambus systems it is often a Easter egg hunt to find all the modules. Like with modules it's often water ingress that's causing the problem. Seeing where these modules have been placed gives one a chance to check out the most likelies first.
