Armored Desert Hoplites is the staple of Nabatea main infantry core. When CA made them they probably thought it was going to be the NobleSwordmen but it is trash
Armored Desert Hoplites are great and having a tanky unit with a great charge as a front line is perfect they are the Desert Tribal Warriors
I'm happy that you keep giving Rome some attention and love. Sometimes its nice to see proper battles without magic and monsters blasting around everywhere.
Interesting to see a lot more players using shock cav (or cav in general) to charge the FRONT of the enemy line, rather than flanking around. Risky strategy that can be countered by the right micro/picks, but pays off BIG when it works.
That's been a tactic more or less since competitive play. I know this since I went back and looked at some old tournaments Heir has on his channel, from around 8 years ago.
Nabatean heavy archer actually can provide good melee damage once they run out of ammo. If you understand how melee attack and melee defense work, them having low melee attack doesn't really matter at all. As long as they have good weapon damage, they will be very handy in late game melee combat.
Because experience makes up for initially low melee attack?
@@gigastrike2 no because there is a minmum hit chance of 20% on the melee attack vs defence. So having good weapon damage helps a lot.

Why does Nabatea have better hoplites than Greek factions?
because of power creep and they need to sell the DLC. However, Tbf, their hoplites are way more expensive to field.
irl nabatean hoplites served as mercs very often they were quite skilled
@@TheBikeOnTheMoon I mean they're 780 gold for quite a powerful unit, much cheaper than most Elite Hoplite units, although pretty comparable to Thorax Hoplites all things considered. (They're more expensive than Thorax Hoplites, but the better unit overall).
@@rovsea-3761 in campaign contex, then you are right, but in multiplayer contex, 780 compared to 710 is a huge difference. Say if you bring 3 thorax hoplites, you save 210 gold compared to desert counterpart and that's huge allowing you to sneak in a few more low tier units as meat shield for example. Meanwhile their performance outputs are relatively the same since both are meant to hold the line with their high armor,
desert kingdoms are so op. I dont know why. I bought r2tw about 8-9 years ago. Now, 2 months ago reinstalled game and mant things have changed. See so many desert kingdom in multiplayer games.

I'm interesting why the Desert Hoplites being able to give Spartan Hoplites a run for their money is power creep (I don't play this game)? Are they noticably cheaper, or can you bring more of them? Or are Spartans, despite their lacklustre real-world history supposed to be the best hoplites in the world?
Armoured desert hoplites is one of the better hoplites in the game, for 780 gold you got highest weapon damage for hoplite, charge bonus and high armor. While royal spartans is the best hoplite in the game, they cost a lot more at 1250. And their 700 cost spartan hoplite isn't as good, they only have 26 wd compare to 30 for armoured desert hoplites, only have 80 armor compare to 90 for armoured desert hoplites, armoured desert hoplites has higher ma and charge bonus too.

Boii army was really bad. Especially for facing Nabataeans. No medium/heavy cavalry and no Oathsworn for some reason.
is this guy gonna send a replay which he loses? it gets kinda predictable that everytime someone sends in a replay, they win
