It's all about the recovery!!! Glad that you and your passengers are safe. It's a reminder of just how human we are. Will be watching to see how you put her back together!!!
Damm bro I pressed the like button only cause you all are ok and it made it back home Under its own power, but other than that It hurt me and it's not my truck, but keep up the great work bro 🤘🏼
I definitely feel your pain. I had a teenager pull out in front of my k10 right after I finished it. I'm glad to hear that you and your friends are ok and that the truck survived. Leaving a little bit of damage gives you a story and reminds you not to push it that far again. Keep up the great work!
Merricks Garage yes I was able to repair it (thankfully). If you replace any metal use factory metal whenever possible. Even the "reproduction " A/M metal is paper thin. Good luck on the rebuild!!
Oh man, I'm sorry to see this! That poor K5! Glad to see that everyone is okay though, that's the important thing. I look forward to the repair videos!
Hey man, i cant believe you drove 6 hours with a popped windshield in the winter. Similar situation back in the day, I lost my windshield when I turtled my old rig at Tellico and had a 3 hour drive back to the house. I stopped at the nearest Home Depot and fabbed up a windshield with plexi, duck tape and a windshield bar out of some 3/4 angle, probably had 20-30 bucks in it and it paid for itself in comfort. Hindsight being 20-20 and all, but if you ever run into this situation again, it might be something to think about.
That absolutely blows. I'm glad you and everyone in it got out without injury!! I drive a 76 K5 and at least it's good to know it's built like a tank. I'm definitely looking into a roll cage pronto, along with that upgraded back seat and seat belts. I'm rocking the standard lap belts, but that's gonna change ASAP. I've only owned it for 2 months, but seeing one turtled makes me re-prioritize for sure. Stay safe, and remember... rubber on the road not in the air. :)
My buddy rolled his k5 off a creek bridge here in nebraska. Fell off on its roof with no help from alcohol but we got it back over n he drove it out lmao. Roof had to be cut off but then it felt like a late 60s blazer so it was all fine lol.
Lol i just got done watching and commenting on another video about how beautiful it was and then seen this like oh no but still a nice rig even after you rolled it but glad everyone was ok. Happy offroading from Montana
thanks man! It was a tough day, but a very important lesson learned. It has come a long way since then though! I took the opportunity really rebuild it this time!
@@MerricksGarage thats good to know . This is my first time seeing your channel so im gonna subscribe to so some love to the channel. I would like to see more offroading content.well have a good day gotta get back to work lol.
You could have had a strap/truck pulling the opposite direction over the body at the same time so that it didn't just drop like that. You could have lowered it down slowly. Just an idea.
Perhaps it is time for a Tow Rig for the further away excursions??? All in all Glad you are safe and not hurt brother. Gotta pay to play....my 4runner and jeep both know this.
You could, cut the A pillars and replace them, and cut the doors. fully removable top! you might have to replace the soft top or modify it to accommodate it to the windshield
I had the same happen but I had to use a body jack for hours to get the roof out & not to mention all the oil leaked out in the water mud & ice that was in everything even the computer :( Wish I was as lucky as you . But your all safe :) & more videos to come :)
Well, think about the time you were wondering if you really needed that roll cage. My grandpa used to make fun of people that never thought about safety when building a rig, or car by saying "You buy a $10 helmet for a $10 head". You clearly have built your truck correct and unfortunately tested the roll cage. Even though it's not my truck, I cringed every time I saw it on it's top. Wish I could help you fix it. Glad to know everyone was ok.
Man that's tough to watch...and to be honest I said let's see how his usual positive attitude holds up. It held up like that cage. I have a hunch I know your fab guy.
all honesty, it could have been worse. Glad the cage did it's job, glad you and your passengers are okay. and in the end it looks as the damage was overall not catastrophic and could easily be fixed. I love your videos man, I predict a video in the near future of you fixing your Oops?
Late and useless info now but I would think that you could stop at the nearest Home Depot/Lowes and pick up a sheet of plexiglass for temp windshield may have worked. Love the videos!
I feel bad for you, but - it's really not that bad of damage and not too terrible to fix. The hardest part is paying attention when you cut the old roof off and replace it with the new - measure at least twice before you cut. Fortunately, GM's tolerance for body gap fitment is roughly 1/16th of an inch, it's certainly not rocket surgery (heh, a joke). Too bad, though, you couldn't find a bit of plexiglass to duct tape over the driver's side.... ah well, battle scars, war stories, great ending. Thank you for posting it.
Dang man that sucks but I'm glad no one was hurt. Don't do like me and get rid of it just cause you're mad. I hit a deer with a Dodge Dart in high school and sold it. Regretted it ever since. Tell you what, this tells me I HAVE to get a cage into mine, sooner rather than later.
@ 3:50 he didn't need to set it over so fast. Next time if someone does this hook another line to the other side and work together setting it over softly, then back up right. The 2nd rig just holds tension so it doesn't slam back on the ground.
Tough Break. Good reminder of what can happen. I have a fleet of square body 4x4s and would hate to wreck any of them. But it is an awesome epic to have under your belt driving it home after. It Is all fixable, mabey just convert to full convertable now 73-75 style and tie the a pillar into your cage for beafiness. Please Get some good vid of what ever repairs you do!
Sorry about your truck, I know how much work was invested in that. Thank you for making a great video though. Safety is key, and in this hobby, build, break, repeat is inevitable
you need to do a full vert conversion on it like the early model K5 all you would have to do is reinforce the body a little but other than that it's a better alternative than losing the truck or doing extensive Bodywork to the roof it's not too bad of a job it's what I'll be doing to my 90 K5 over the summer I'm sure you can look up on a forum and find the window frame you need but that's just some of my advice sad to see you wreck it but it is what it is #k5mob #k5life
Yes been there in my 79 K5 now you know why they call it Hammers!! I absolutely rekt my K5!! That only made me build it stronger and safer!! I keep going back and pushing my limits with the doubler!! Triple sticks bitches!!!
Next time stop off at Lowes buy a big clear plastic sheet, over shoot the top of windshield buy a 1/ 2 foot or more. Screw it in. If you have to Cut out a section to see out of... Surprised that drive home didn't attract any police officers. The Truck still delivered you home in one piece. So Give your build the Credit where credit is due... ✌ peace and blessings from The Grand Canyon State deep inside Occupied Territory of FEMA REGION 9... .
LOL reminds me of when me and the woman had to drive home the 3 hour drive from the trail during a monsoon with the tube doors on and the top off. I've never been so cold and wet in my life. Dude, I would just look at it as an opportunity. Cut off the damaged roof and go full soft top. Or body swap I suppose.
Recently subscribed, really happy with the KOTH videos. Do you have any more video of the red Square body?! Dude please tell me you got some more video or pictures!
sad to say I rolled my 00 Silverado wheeling to hard onw night, luckily only on its side. winched her from frame back over and drove her home that night. chevys go the distance!
Well the way I see it I guess, you can't be a real 4x4 veteran if you never rolled over... If it never happened to you before well then that's now done! Check on the "veteran's" checklist ;P
Hehe yeah even if it doesn't feel nice at all, I noticed that the more often and the better you become at something, the stupidest thing is bound to happen to you someday :P You could be at the peak of any sports or activity and then there is "that" day where you suck and probably should have stayed home, but I didn't feel like I needed to grill him down any more than he must have already felt when he posted this :P
ya well @least everyone's ok and least u know ur rollcage is a safe one & not a cosmetic one.. ur pride can be always be fixed but really 8psi n da desert, u must not be from round here cuz dat def wasn't ur smartest idea but great vid
I dont see why you seem so upset. That is what happens in off roading. Go look at pretty much any truck that spends time in the rocks. The truck did its job, it kept the passengers safe and once it was rubber side down it got you back home. So what if it has dents and scrapes? That just shows you actually use it, even if you feel it was a stupid mistake... you USE the truck, it isnt a highway queen.
upset because it was a stupid mistake and could have hurt my friends. But yes, it is used. It is a tool. People who see the truck in person are always surprised how rough it is compared to the videos lol
A real case of "no pain.. no gain"... things can't gone perfectly everytime !
You have been lucky to be not injured!
It's all about the recovery!!!
Glad that you and your passengers are safe.
It's a reminder of just how human we are.
Will be watching to see how you put her back together!!!
I must say thank you . I have purchased rear Escalade bench seats today for a decent price thanks to you . I really appreciate it
Been recently in love with your build/channel and very sorry to see you rolled. Good luck with the repair! - A very inspired 78 blazer owner

Good thing for the cage at least! Looks like the rear seat and the equipment rack held up as well. Fix and repair baby!!!
You da Man Merrick!!! Took it like a Boss! Awesome!

Now you know how us Harley riders feel when big trucks don't have the right mud flaps and rocks fly lol. Keep up the good work.
Merrick- I'm so sorry this happened to the K5 Blazer... I am looking very forward to THE RESURECTION! PS. GREAT music selection. Love it.
Glad your Ok!!!
up for the battle scar and making it home with its own power! Drive safely.
I'm sorry for what happened brother, I really like your truck, hope you film the process of restoration.
PS. Thanks god no one was injured
time to get the sawsall and make it a dove tail on 49's. but in all seriousness I'm glad to see everyone is safe and sound.

I'm glad you were all right It can be repaired.
Just got back from 2020 hammers with the truck!
damn bro.. you drove it back..
dude that sick mad respect to ya...
and diy4x cage did its job

Now it looks like a proper rock crawler

Rollcage worked that is a +

Idk if it was worth it, but you rolling your K5 made a new sub. Looking forward to your videos haha

K5s are tough, and I know you can/will fix it.
Yes been there in my 79 K5 now you know why they call it Hammers!! I absolutely rekt my K5!! That only made me build it stronger and safer!! I keep going back and pushing my limits with the doubler!! Triple sticks bitches!!!
Do a suspension video? Seems like the shocks handle that roll back into its wheels pretty well
Merricks Garage No I'll have to look thanks!
looks like the setup handled it just the way you'd hope. what song is playing at 6:45? Cheers man!

She wasn't happy thats for sure. Not to mention tube doors are a no go with her even in the heat of summer.
Bad news: you rolled your truck
Good news: now you know you installed the roll bar properly.
Have a truck on the other side to slow the roll over process. Sometimes this can do more damage than the actual crash
what kind of rear and front seats do you have on that beast ?
Should have grabbed a chunk of plexiglass and zip tied it to the cage. Sucks but that's what we build these for.
What Trans-Cross-Member are you using with the 4L65-E?
Thank you for the detailed video.
Recently subscribed, really happy with the KOTH videos. Do you have any more video of the red Square body?! Dude please tell me you got some more video or pictures!
Okay so the main reason why i am here is to see how your rolled it the truck in the first place.??
Doing donuts in the desert with 8 psi in my tires. And being an idiot
I can’t believe it didn’t put any visible large dents . Lucky 🍀
+Dallas Rife lol. They just weren’t visible. They were (are) there
Awesome vid just sucked that it rolled but you'll have it like new in no time I'm sure. What ever happened to the dura-blazer
Merricks Garage oh I see. That is a really cool project.
OH man I hate to see this . I hope you can fix it . That is one of my favorite k5s.
You might find it easier to cut the roof off another truck. The double wall roof is a nightmare to pull dents.
As a 94 2dr lifted blazer owner watching this hurts
love your videos man
heaterhose thing was f.....n genious
Wow tuff man!!
plexin glass bro. have spare in the back in a nice space just in case which we know there won't be a next flop lol
sad to say I rolled my 00 Silverado wheeling to hard onw night, luckily only on its side. winched her from frame back over and drove her home that night. chevys go the distance!
Sorry bro, that sux! I promise to learn from your mistake. The good news is ya have a new project.lol
the most painful thing to watch is Ford standing a Chevy back up.
Any port in a storm it's all relevant I'm glad the truck was okay as well.
How did you roll it if you were on a flat surface
Merricks Garage rewatched it I must have not been paying attention the first time suck man but you can rebuild it better
live and learn.
At least I got a good look at the exhaust setup are those super 10s
Yup super 10s
Merricks Garage haha
Well the way I see it I guess, you can't be a real 4x4 veteran if you never rolled over... If it never happened to you before well then that's now done! Check on the "veteran's" checklist ;P
Samuël Tremblay Yeah I truely feel like a professional 4x4 offroader because I rolled my truck on flat ground.
Hehe yeah even if it doesn't feel nice at all, I noticed that the more often and the better you become at something, the stupidest thing is bound to happen to you someday :P You could be at the peak of any sports or activity and then there is "that" day where you suck and probably should have stayed home, but I didn't feel like I needed to grill him down any more than he must have already felt when he posted this :P
sad day my friend i loved that truck
Merricks Garage thats great ill stay tuned bro and godspeed!
Merricks Garage what was the purple/red fluid on the driver front wheel and in the sand once it was pulled back over?
Pee Wee Herman wants his cowgirl hat back... Damn!!!
I dig this comment. Made me laugh.
If it makes you feel any better it doesn't obviously look like a truck that's been rolled.... and it kept going later that night? no worries
That looks like me early in the morning...
Bro I want to cry for you. I would be so upset if I rolled my 79 k5
It will probably end up looking cooler. And hey, now u can really beat on it.
Chicks dig scars and I’m sure the wife does too after knowing all is good and you walked away. As you say, a project is never done.
ya well @least everyone's ok and least u know ur rollcage is a safe one & not a cosmetic one.. ur pride can be always be fixed but really 8psi n da desert, u must not be from round here cuz dat def wasn't ur smartest idea but great vid
Note to self take motorcycle hemlets in case i roll

Exactly

Looks like your better eating donuts than making them.
Damn brother that's rough
what did,the wife have to say about it lol
So body swap coming next?
Jmorgan0240 don't need a damn body swap
don't look aired down
Should haved bought a jeep!
You are lucky
Why did you roll it over with a Ford? Salt in the wound!
not gonna lie, the music is a little creepy. lol
🤘🤘👍
wtf! u ok?
nooooooooooooooo wth why god why did you kill a square body why
He didn't it's a square body you can't kill it...
Alec Myers true that lol
