Went through my stock and several set of cheapo mirrors before pulling the trigger on Doubletake... then broke a Doubletake into three pieces after (while?) looping my bike on a hill climb! Difference between the cheapo mirrors and the Doubletake is that Doubletake stands by their product! Sent them a photo of the broken mirror and a new one was in my mailbox (in Nova Scotia, Canada) within a week.
I remember standing on that back porch a couple February’s ago and how freakin pumped I was to be at your house! Someday I’ll come back to ride with ya. Stay safe!!
Oh man, that rock was not moving for the beloved KLR! Dang nature, you savage! You're the one who introduced me to the Green Chile system back in the day Tyler. And after all these years, I still think it's a slick do-everything system. Also, I think Tusk has been killing it with their products. I've found myself impressed by their offerings. Much luv, buddy.
That drone footage at the start is so epic. love ur channel, always super amazing stuff mate. Love seeing closeups of the bikes also and all the bits and pieces on them. Cheers :)
This review helps me to save time and energy (and money). Listening to the sage knowledge of guys/gals that have a plethora (Yes Jefe, plethora) of research already invested helps me immensely. Thanks for the deets!
I have a set of Tusk DS on my KLR and they really hook up on dirt, but on pavement they were sketchy for the first couple hundred miles. Watch out for road seams, i got sent into full tank slapper at 70mph before they broke in. If you put em on the chicken strip knobs on pavement or concrete they drift reasonably well with only a bit of chatter. My rear is almost dead now, i got em in July so that's about 6 months of hard daily on them, it's my grocery getter. My daily ride is a few miles of steep twisty dirt down to the pass, a couple more miles of twisty paved canyons and a couple miles of town roads. I send it hard on the dirt and on the upper canyon when i'm not loaded down, they break out, slide, and recover predictably and i'll probably order another rear in the next few weeks.
Brilliant stuff, as usual - I’m excited for the new cinematics! A few things I need to add to my wife’s “new” XT225 on this list... 😈 starting with the new grips!
I think I like it by Tiger Run is the tune I immediately downloaded from Spotify. I'm new to this channel, but really like what I've seen. Concepts Seat fan boy too! A lot of the stuff you've done to your bikes, I've done to mine.
I'm really glad you just posted this. I just bought my first dual sport (CSC TT250) and I'm looking for some part recommendations. I've silently loved your channel for a while.
I've got 2005 crf250x and I found the front tire from Tusk (the dsport), but no rear tire. Any suggestions for a rear?? The bike is plated but it's pretty much like most people, just there to get me to the trails. 20/80 street to trail ratio. Any suggestions would be helpful!
I use the acerbis rear fender fuel tank that just straps on with some tie down straps and I have a tap 3 way tap that allows me to switch between tanks and I can just remove the acerbis tank when I don't need it
Really happy with the Dunlop D606 in the back on my FE350S. Great on the street, and can go anywhere the gummys can on single track. Cant get the tusk tires in Canada.
At this point, with all the back-and-forth I've had with cycleracks trying to get their rack to fit my dr200, I really wish I'd have gone with the green chile gear instead
Since so many (better) Dual-Sports have an essentially non-existent subframe, have you experienced conversations regarding ‘fabricating’ some sort of reinforcing skeleton underneath ? I’m thinking aluminum tube, smashed ends, holes drilled, mounted at Pass Peg holes, etc ….
I put a Tusk D Sport on the rear of my KTM 450 EXC-F Six days. I'm not terribly impressed with it after 400 miles. It's a very soft compound compared to the tried-and-true D606 I've been running on my DRZ since 2007. It's got cracks at the base of some of the knobs and chunks torn off the corners of multiple knobs. I will be surprise if the tires make it to 1500 miles based on what I see so far.
Double take mirrors are the best I have found, pricey but they last. I like the Shinko 216 MX 80/90 DOT front tire and the Fatty 216 90/100 Cheater, perform well off road and are OK on pavement. How do you like the performance of the GPR steering stabilizer? I've always ran the Scott but see a few different brands out there now and was just curious.
hey everide, great vid and happy to see ya putting content out. double check your links though, seems like your space bar wasn't fully awake when putting all the links in. a few are crossed-up
Hey Everide! I just bought a 2017 KLR 650, switched from a Honda Shadow 600. I do have a KTM 250 EXC-F that I ride about once a month, usually longer due to work. I love taking my KLR on dirt roads but I'm not completely comfortable with how heavy and wide it is compared to my KTM. I assume given enough time on the dirt I'll learn the KLR's limitations but I would like to know any tidbits of information for riding an adventure bike on single track/double track areas. Thank you and have a good day!
Great review, good effort. You said great things about the mirror and convinced me to buy a pair. Then I started to watch your motovlog from 2 months ago and you call the mirror crap. Is it good, or is it crap?
The video wasn't too long, that's the kind of description people need, when considering buying a product. I'm definitely going to buy the mirrors and eventually almost everything you talked about haha! Since I'm not caught up in all your videos I don't know how many cc's the KTM is It sounds like the Yamaha and KTM are two strokes? Maybe when you're talking in the video you can refer to the model making year of the bike the first time you talk about it, sorry I don't mean to tell you how to record videos, but I found myself wondering the entire video what the other two bikes were besides the DR-Z which everyone knows is Suzuki's masterpiece 400!
Great videos. I really have enjoyed your videos over the years. For me,, they are practical for a lower budget people and maybe I'm a little on the senior side. I like the headlight set up you have on your WR250. I have a WR450. Where can one purchase that? Thanks
Not a big fan of my tusk dsports. Seems to wash out all the time. However I’ve only ridden them for 3-4 rides and the desert is so dry. Maybe it’s not the tire.
@@offone9469 when I got them from dealer they were at 35 psi. I brought them to 25 then 20. If I only ride dirt I’ll go lower but I usually dual sport and Reno NV area has so many rocks I don’t want to go too low. What do you run? Mine are on a drz

@@PatrickKQ4HBD to each their own right? I don't know what 11B means...or what psi you ride at and on what tires or where you're riding. If I know I'm jumping on a little highway action I'll pump em up to 15 haha. I never raced in the desert though.

My 2008 WR450F stock seat was murder. The seat concepts seat was the single best upgrade I've ever done!
"It's totaled, but it pretty much looks the same" :-)
lol
Somebody please make that a sticker for him!
You see where there is less dirt.. that is where the SxS hit it.
Beast!
Equally in love with the Pro Grip 714! Slightly fatter than most grips, and much much easier on the hands for typical dual sport riding. Good video!
Glad to hear you still love your GCAG gear!

"Buy once, cry once"
Great advice. We have all done the same buying cheap things over and over
That rack/webbing system looks great. Fantastic footage up front brother. Thanks for the recommendations.

@baetaeF8 yes for sure... Why? Its still epic
Tyler put it in the video on purpose, so he's epic. 😁
Man you can tell you beat the piss out of your bikes. Love it!
The grips are life saver for my klx 230!!!! I'm about to change over my seat to a seat concepts seat.

I am satisfied with the Tusk DS front performance. I will try the rear when my preferred tire, Kenda K772 Parker DT wears out.
Good to hear business is booming. Grateful.
You should check out the mosko bags, they are fantastic, tank/nomad and reckless systems are impressive
Love the ProGrip 714. They are great for bigger hands and they have been amazing on my CR500 enduro.

I think I'll buy a set of those Dsports for my XR600 project! Can't wait to finally get out there an cruise Utah with you brother... hopefully soon!
I got another suggestion. How about another add on for the patio is a pressure washer, you can use it on all your bikes.
This stuff is important too, big T.
Please double check the Green Chile link. I don't think "Use" is part of it. That said, thanks for the info!
