Being a proud UAE resident since 2006 and a 2008 crisis plus corona, I can say that what people get wrong in the mix of things about developments in the Arabian gulf is that there's no comparison between U.A.E and others GCC nations... especially Saudi Arabia. One thing the UAE is good at is being innovative when a crisis strikes.. for eg. Saudi can bring in whatever they want to attract people however the Islamic nation factor comes to play whereas for UAE they're very smart at keeping things Islamic and non Islamic. Key factor here is the mindset of Emiratis who are progressive which I doubt Saudis are.. even Qatar proved during fifa 2022 that they're nowhere close to a UAE mindset when it comes to coexistence...so forget beating Dubai, for Saudi to be atleast in the league of Ajman, they have alot of work with the mindset of their citizens...anyways nice work with the video...

While Riyadh Air is working on a plan to grow and expand, Emirates and Qataris are also working on the same plan of their own. It would be a tough competition. The new player has to find ways different and think out of the box to lead i.e. Innovation, customer satisfaction, pricing, availability, destinations....etc. RA will compete with airlines that dominated the sky for decades and it has to be a game changer to be No.1. Good luck.

I do believe that if they don't manage to dethrone Emirates and Qatar, they will still be strong competitors. I understand the strategy of starting from scratch and building everything anew. The CEO stated that it will be a technology-native airline, meaning the plane interiors will feature state-of-the-art technology. Additionally, the CEO's experience is noteworthy as they he was the one who oversaw turned around and revamped Etihad, He knows about the bussines, Also, let's not forget that even though the airline is based in Saudi Arabia, the leadership and top executives are European, bringing a Western perspective to the Gulf business. Their hiring strategies are also aiming to recruit pilots and talents from around the world, potentially creating a multicultural experience similar to what makes Emirates and Qatar unique at the moment. Even though I'm a fan of Emirates and Etihad, I'm convinced this new airline will bring its A-game to the competition and i wish them good luck. These are good times for the aviation world❤

As direct ultra long-range flights and midway competitors like Turkey and India develop, turning the hub into its own destination is the key to durable success. Riyadh the city has a socially and economically discomforting ways to go to become attractive to all foreigners, which presents a challenge going forward for Riyadh Air.

The Emirates have done one key thing that Saudi hasn’t; permitted western influence in places. Dubai has become a tourist destination and is THE financial market in the region. Riyadh sits in the middle of the sand. The kingdom is over-reliant on fossil fuels and the US for its internal defense. The house of Saud came from Riyadh to conquer the region, hence the name of the country. There are numerous small families that have significant influence who would absolutely take advantage of any internal shakeups to the country to replace the family in power right now. It has no nuclear power plants, is overly dependent on foreign imports for food, electricity and water. It sits in a hostile place geopolitically and is engaged in numerous proxy wars with Iran and actively uses its status as holding the most important cities in Islam as a weapon against other nations with Islamic populations because entry to the country requires a visa. The cultural center of the Arab world is in Egypt, the money of the Arab world is in Dubai. Riyadh and Damman are good for oil, huge reserves around Damman but if we’re being perfectly honest here. If Riyadh wants to attempt the business model of Qatar/Emirates/Etihad, its going to need to operate and offer the exact same thing. But all of this stuff must work in order for the city to become a tourist destination, and everyone in the western world knows what happens to people who do not practice Islam when they go to Saudi Arabia and how the laws work. Dubai built itself up over 25 years after the oil dried up because it was able to diversify its economy. I highly doubt that with the presence of Jeddah, Mecca, and Medina, that Riyadh will be able to compete

  • @EpicSlug

The big problem with their plan is that Emirates in Dubai use a mix of origin & destination traffic (mostly tourism to Dubai) mixed with Transfer / Connecting flights. The big problem Riyadh has is that it's in the middle of Saudi, not on the coast, so there is no beach or water scenery, it's extremely dry and hot so a very poor choice for a tourism hub. I'm sure Saudi will invest heavily to make Riyadh more appealing, but it will never have the beach of Dubai, the Water of Dubai, The Palm, the general scenery and sense of location. They could have picked Jeddah or Neom which are actually on the coast and much more appealing to visit. Also they are trying to build up the Neom city and encourage people to move there over Dubai, but it won't have a global air hub as that will be in Riyadh. NO ONE will choose to fly Riyadh air because of the purple livery... they will choose it based on price and convenience for transfer traffic and for what Riyadh as a city can offer for point to point traffic.

I too had a same ? Why build a whole new airline when they already have 2 / 3 local airline for themself - was not convinced with your response in chapter -2
They could have easily makes Saudia airline premier / the X factor one and saved on the whole cost which could have compensated all the expenses in revamping or uplifting the image of other home airline
As u rightly ended good for us as a customer more competition lesser the fare 😂
time will only tell how successful will Riyadh Air bee - but we wish them all the best

2030 is too far and long shot. The competition is not going to sit and watch until then. Also if they make this new airline a 'dry airline' like Saudi Air, then good luck, you automatically shoved off majority of flyers.

I don't know your aviation background FAZAL, the airline business is market-driven, NOT fleet size ONLY !! RIA will dry its capital before making a profit. It will have issues with plane delivery, + destination (the high traffic market TO/ FROM the GULF is limited), especially since the airline is managed by Tony Douglas who has NO real aviation (airline operation experience) during his 5 years with Etihad he didn't accomplish any positive results!! in fact, add to the losses created by the LOOTER James Hogen, with new long-range planes, KSA won't be a viable connecting hub
