I can't carry a tune to save my life. But someday when I go home to be with Jesus, I'll be able to sing His praises at the top of my lungs for all eternity and I won't have anyone around me cringe because I hit the wrong note or was off-key.
My Dad was am evangelist in Music as well as spreading the Gospel. After hearing this song I could only imagine what Dad was enjoying, he passed away in 2001. He always said his ambition was when he got to Heaven was to spend the first ten thousand years singing his praise to Jesus, who redeemed him. I have no doubt he is playing in a band and singing in the choir of the Redeemed!
Love listening to the Booth Brothers!!!! They are such an awesome group--you can see the love of Jesus in their faces and hear it in their voices!!!! All glory to God!!!!
I've been watching and reading some of these comments. One man said he couldn't sing. To him I said the Lord said make a JOYFUL noise, He didn't say it had to sound great or even good. He knows of the joy in your heart. So to all of you.----Keep singing and doing with joy. May God bless you all.
I Love the Booth Brothers music especially when I travel back to our Homestead on Barkley Mountain in Pennsylvania. They are blessed with their singing.
The song Living By Faith was published in the 1970 edition of the Nazarene Hymnal. The song was written in February of 1970. My mother threw sulphuric acid in my face on Valentines Day and I was blind for two days. On the morning of my birthday (February 17) my pastor came in and prayed for me and my sight was restored. After being healed I began singing the chorus of Living By Faith in Flemish. Then I composed the first verse also in Flemish. The chorus was also translated into Rhodham. The third verse was written in German. The third chorus was translated into Sweitzendeutch (the national language of Switzerland). The fourth verse was written in Italian by my pastor Joseph Gaieti. The next chorus is translated into Rhodham. The last phrase repeats in Italian.
You have out done yourself with this song. What a way to go Booth Brothers. You were at our church a few years ago and did a Live Video CD. It was great!!!!!!!Calvary Chapel Melbourne. Praise the Lord!!!!! Good is so good!"!!!!!
That is the joy in the Lord! Love this song - we all can do whatever the Lord chooses for us to do. The Booth Brothers are blessed with love for the Lord and wonderful voices that can sing all types of Gospel music. Thanks for sharing.
I notice Henry and Hazel Slaughter (great old time preachers and singers) in the audience, singing along and wondered if they wrote this song??? Can't get enough of it!
Bill Gaither and Larry Gatlin wrote this song with Mr. Slaughter being the inspiration. In reaponse to a question Bill Gaither asked..Mr. Slaugjter responed the did not so much...he just sang a few songs..preached a few qprss....you get it drift.😊
@@kln58cub Henry Slaughter just passed away -Nov 13/20--I was blessed to see them in concert several times and had a very warm conversation with him --a very gracious man.
Thank you Henry!!! Rip!!!!! And thank you to the Booth Brothers who helped make this song very memorable and inspiring and thank you Bill Gaither!!! You and everyone else “your band included” especially Todd Suttle are my inspiration and you all have helped me pursue my passion for gospel music and for Gene… he has made me pursue my dreams of becoming a bass singer
Awesome song.. so sorry .. the main behind this beautiful moving song was... Late Henry Slaughter, whome died a week ago. R.I.P Mr 🤦♂️🙆🥀😭... Your legacy will live on. Great arrangement by Bill Gaither, Larry Gatline . 👏🎼❤
love these guys! had the privilege to see them in person and got to talk to Ronnie... so sincere, God bless you guys as you adjust to new beginnings...
I sure loved Henry Slaughter--heard He and Hazel and family many times at a Bible Camp in Maine! Was sad/overjoyed to hear of his passing a few weeks ago. His faith has been fully and finally realized!
I love these guys. They are fabulous. The tallest one can’t be still &/I love that, the preacher has the sweetest smile & they all three are great. I hope I can get a chance to see them in public. Come to Wilmington, DE or Lancaster, PA guys. I’m gettin old, love gospel music.
The chorus for I Played In The Band, I Sang In The Choir was written in Sweitzendeutch. The first verse was written in German. Then the chorus was translated into Italian. Then the chorus was translated into the language of the Zuni Pueblo in New Mexico. The next chorus was translated into the Navajo language. The line Heartfelt desire was written in Baask. The chorus repeats in Baask.
I can't sing in the choir or play in a band, but your music made me feel happy in the midst of sorrow so I got up and danced around and clapped my hands and felt joyful for a little while. Thank you and may God continue to bless you and your ministry.
The song is about a very humble man, Henry Slaughter, who wrote many, many wonderful gospel songs, but when Gaither wrote about him and said how good he is, he stated, "I just wanted to play in the band, write a few songs, and sing in the choir". That led to this song, stating a Christian doesn't have to be the head, but a member of God's family who can lead others to Him by being in the background. As far as the fist bump, this was in a studio, but I don't think Jesus minds at all.
Rob Bahlmer wrote I Played In The Band And Sang In The Choir. It was written in French the Monday before Rob died. Charlie and Richard Bishop were cousins who spent a lot of time with Rob Bahlmer.
I am upset that someone stole the copyright and misused the name of the Lord. Rob Bahlmer was the section leader for Central Missouri with the Church of Christ.
That’s all it takes to make it to Heaven? Don’t have to live a Holy life or humble myself to God everyday? This song is so deceiving but that is the way of many in these days.
Gary, I used to hang around some musicians, some of them only interested in whether or not I made THEM sound good. The gentle laughing mockery destroyed my pleasure in singing around people....but then one day, the Lord showed me how pride can take 2 forms- One struts and says, "I can DO that." The other cringes and says, " I can't do THAT!" Both pride, just the same. Now, when I sing with my bass woman's voice, I try to just be who I am, regardless of the ears and attitudes around me. Sing on.
hi bill and gloria ..im fijian and i im one off your follower i like the way you guys organices your self on stage very proffesional..god bless you ??/

Gods says to make a joyful noise. He doesn’t say we have to be in tune with every one else. He just wants you to praise Him through your heart.

"Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise." - Psalms 98;4.
