Thank you for sharing! I still haven't read any Lauren Groff - perhaps I should start with The Vaster Wilds? I'd never heard of The Feast, but I'd love to read more from the mid-twentieth century ☺️
My favorite reads were Shuggie Bain, Kindred, Our Endless Numbered Days and The Marriage Portrait. I will try and read Demon Copperhead this year as per your recommendation. 🤗
Shuggie Bain was one of my favourites a few years ago! I still need to read The Marriage Portrait, it's sat on my shelf - thank you for the reminder. I hope you love Demon Copperhead when you get round to it!
Yay Kala!!! Also you might have finally convinced me to give Demon Copperhead a go. And My Men. If you haven’t already please give Memorial by Alice Oswald a go, it’s a retelling of the Iliad and it’s so stunning ❤
Hi Jasmine! Finished Penance this morning and really enjoyed it (if you even can enjoy crime that’s so believable and vivid). I think my next audiobook will be Kala as you recommend it twice already. Saved some of your fav books to my reading list of course 😅 I’m currently reading The Empire of Gold and just wanted to say that my fav book of 2023 was The Kingdom of Copper ❤ That trilogy is brilliant I love everything about it. Looking forward to your next video!
Hello lovely! So glad you enjoyed Penance - the audiobook is a great experience. Hope you enjoy Kala too! I'd be interested to hear which you prefer, as people often compare them. Ohhh I'm so happy to hear you're loving the Daevabad trilogy! ❤
Hi Jasmine, I’m so glad you’re back! Your “best of the year” video is always one of my favourites 👏🏼👏🏼 Kala sounds totally like my cup of tea, thanks! My favourite read from last year is Betty by Tiffany Mcdaniel, loved it!
I didn't read too much in 2023 but I'm hoping 2024 is better. I've just finished a chunky Robert Galbraith book and hope to get started on 'Tomorrow Tomorrow Tomorrow' by Gabrielle Zevin very soon. I also need to read a great deal more poetry (and write some more as well). You might like 'Black Country' by Liz Berry, poetry by Louise Glück, or work by Andrew McMillan; his debut prose book is out very soon.
I hope you really enjoy Tomorrow Tomorrow and Tomorrow ☺️ Thank you for the recommendations. I love Louise Gluck! I've seen Andrew McMillan around - will have to try out his work. Hope 2024 reading has gotten off to a fab start!
Favorite novel of 2023 also Demon Copperhead, but one of favorite reading experiences of my life was also this year with Beartown trilogy by Fredrik Backman(so seminal it is its own category--RUN, dont walk!).....and, yes, Cameron, just, 🤷
So delighted to hear that you loved Still Life and Moon Tiger - two of my favourite authors! I wish more people spoke about Moon Tiger. And yes, you go too! 🤣
oh my goodness so many for my TBR Demon copperhead was already there, I haven't got to it yet but must do this year. My favourites were Once upon a River,, A man called Ove,, Panenka, This is how you lose the time war, Hamnet, Small things like these and The secret diaries of Charles Ignacious Sancho
You absolutely must! I don't think I've heard one person who didn't love it. Oooh what a mix 😍 Absolutely love Hamnet and Small Things Like These. I'm very intrigued by Panenka!
Demon was my top read of 2023 as well and Cameron needs to stop whatever he's doing and read it! I also loved Small Mercies by Dennis Lehane, In Memoriam by Alice Winn and Fayne by Ann-Marie MacDonald.
Right?! So happy to hear it was your favourite as well. I just know he is going to love it! Thanks so much for the recommendations ☺️ Fayne and Small Mercies both sound very intriguing and right up my street!
for god's sake Cameron just get on with it
😘
A couple of my favorite reads of 2023 - The Vaster Wilds by Lauren Groff, The Feast by Margaret Kennedy and The Wall by Marlene Haushofer 😊

@@JasmineReads I think you'd really enjoy both! Lauren Groff's books are all so different but this is definitely the one I've enjoyed the most!

Would you say that it’s necessary/important to read David Copperfield prior to reading Demon?
I’d like to know too
Absolutely not! Demon Copperhead stands completely on its own. I've actually never read David Copperfield - though I'm intrigued to now!
@@JasmineReads amazing!! Just got my copy in the mail and cannot wait to start

Demon Copperhead has been so many people's favourite! Thank you for the Beartown reminder too - I need to try that out!
Go, Cameron! Go, me😂
2023 was generous with amazing books; but 2 that stood out are "Still life" by Sarah Winman and "Moon tiger" by Penelope Lively.❤

Number one book of 2023
Deluge by Stephen Markley
Oooh so good to hear this! Ohio was a favourite from 2022 - I'm still to get to Deluge. This year!
