The original Operation Flashpoint had an aiming reticule that's fixed like standard crosshair but there was a floating point that moved each time you fired. It didn't track where the shots went but it gave a visual indicator when you can shoot again after the recoil recovered or you can shoot through it.
@@folx2733 I'm more afraid of it being an unfair advantage with it being on versus off. I'll have to see for myself but some reviewers have already expressed these same concerns after using it.

Not to mention this option is turned off by default. If people don't like it, they don't have to use it
Idk if you covered it, but now you are not bound to only one type of a gun type. For example you can have both m4a4 and m4a1-s, you need to the replace another weapon in the inventory to have both
the molotov bottle shader is actually from half life alyx (minus alyx didnt have mollies, just bottles with liquid) even cooler in VR when you can grab it, tip it and shake it
I just wanna keep regular csgo :( It's what I've been used to for the past 7 years. It'd be like playing a ps2 game on a pc and it just doesn't feel the same. I'm still salty about them adding a whole bunch of new player models and changing the chickens lol. Also removing subzero and biome was a huge blow to me. Those maps brought me so much comfort.
I really wish that Valve could update the first person animations in future builds. Stuff like the bobbing motion of the gun when you're walking around, reloading, and the firing animation should not look exactly the same as how they were in CSGO when this is supposed to be a brand new entry into the series. Now of course I'm not suggesting that Valve needs to join the "twitchy tacticool MW2019 reload animation" trend that every developer is sheepishly following because of course they are--Counter Strike isn't Call of Duty and shouldn't ever try to be anything like it irregardless of its popularity. It's just that....well....animation quality standards for first person shooters have gotten better over the years and Counter Strike has been kinda lagging behind in this specific department. It would be nice if Valve actually used their talented animators for their first person animations for once.
@@schlop1771 I've thought about that but no. I think there's a balancing problem as to why the reloads are fixed for a reason, regardless of whether there's still a round in the chamber.
Best part about the water effects is that (besides the droplet particles) it's all flat. The geometry doesn't change, not even from the 3D ripples. It's all clever parallax effects. Even the caustics are just part of the surface texture. The parallax stuff is one of my favorite parts of the graphics in CS2. The water, bullet holes, even curtains in windows. All flat geometry using parallax to make it look 3D.
3:45 You could do self boost in csgo too but it was much harder to achieve for low skilled movement players. also every nade is inspectable now including c4.
Amazing graphics, looks like an actual upgrade to all the previous counter strikes, brings back so many memories. Brilliant video capturing all the minute details like the smoke and algae.
Man, I was really scared that they would destroy CS with this update because CS is such a balanced and tuned game, even with all the quirks, but it seems like they're improving it in every way without breaking stuff that works well. The new colors and illumination seem to make a huge difference and I can't wait to see what pro players will do with smokes and HEs now haha
They already destroyed CS with CSGO, 1.6 was much better. A good reason why people moved to CS:GO was because they were forced to. When CS:GO was release many people in my circle were still playing CS 1.6 until valve release the last 1.6 update which basically ruined the online gameplay experience on 1.6. The sound dynamics on CS:GO suck till date.
It's a joy to see all these details and clever training options that Valve put into this episode. Even though I'm an absolutely low casual player (who mostly plays CS with bots and friends), I'm also looking forward to the launch - it just looks fantastic. My only gripe is with the weapon animations - they look pretty dated, especially when considering the model quality. I hope Valve will update those as well before the 'live' launch.
Interactivity and a reactive world is what good games are all about! Its something Unreal is doing the exact opposite of - They push the graphical fidelity but at the cost of serious performance hits and a boring, lifeless, static world. Valve are master class developers.
I was actually more annoyed by the brightness from watching CS2 videos but when I played it I hardly noticed it. But what I found really annoying in CS2 is the reduced weapon options. Basically if you want the m249 you have to give up a good weapon to use it so you never use it (and other guns that are rarely used). Takes so much away from the fun.
I started with the OG CS mod and put more hours into that game than any other. I haven't touched CSgo really, maybe only a couple hundred hours. But I'm definitely getting on the hype train for CS2. I actually really like that crosshair that moves with the recoil. I think I'll enable that and get used to use it. I always knew the patterns for recoil, but I feel like showing me the crosshair will make my aim even better. Can't wait to try it!

Valve casually doing what they do best. which is show every other dev that their efforts in mechanics and details are just so basic compared to what they could be. it has to a balance of satisfying graphics with amusing gameplay.
"I'm not a CS player" Yeah explains why you feel like that. CS is one of the most competitive shooters, and adding more stuff into the game to make it realistic/feature-rich will absolutely obliterate the careful balance of competitive elements in it. If it ain't broke, why fix it?
Man, I started my gaming career around 25 years ago with I think CS beta 4.0. It’s insane to see, what it has become but still looks the same after all these years. Stopped playing long time ago when I switched to console and more casual gaming.

@@nachhth4963 Yes, on Hadz channel.
The original Operation Flashpoint had an aiming reticule that's fixed like standard crosshair but there was a floating point that moved each time you fired. It didn't track where the shots went but it gave a visual indicator when you can shoot again after the recoil recovered or you can shoot through it.
Yes that was a fantastic way of showing the recoil. Such a good game.
The crosshair follow recoil feature is really a great addition.
I don't know. Not having the crosshair follow is what made CS unique to me.
@@WushuTaznobody is forcing you to turn that option on. New players will love that though
@@folx2733 I'm more afraid of it being an unfair advantage with it being on versus off. I'll have to see for myself but some reviewers have already expressed these same concerns after using it.
@@folx2733 i think new players probably loved it more then they learnt the spray patterns by themselves without hand holding features
@@filips2146 1.6 came out 20 years ago. You can't expect people to enjoy this type of recoil when no other FPS does it nowadays.I have a bunch of friends who think the recoil going all over the place without any visual feedback is archaic and bad. Not to mention this option is turned off by default. If people don't like it, they don't have to use it
I thought my cs days are over but hell nah i have to go in this again...This looks amazing and satisfying
What a flamboyant HK slap at 7:04
Idk if you covered it, but now you are not bound to only one type of a gun type. For example you can have both m4a4 and m4a1-s, you need to the replace another weapon in the inventory to have both
the molotov bottle shader is actually from half life alyx (minus alyx didnt have mollies, just bottles with liquid) even cooler in VR when you can grab it, tip it and shake it
I have a feeling that shader was originally made for CS2, then they decided to put it in HLA.
Love how maps look and feel like real locations now, not just another paint ball arena.
They would have fixed the shooting, anti-cheat made, what's the use of this visual if the game's basic not fixed)
@@Sergjji They did
@@vibaj16 Let's hope it works
I’ve been watching you for years. You have the best job ever
Those water affects are killer.
Valve should at least consider tactical reloads, a game like Counter-Strike would benefit heavily from this feature
@@schlop1771 I've thought about that but no. I think there's a balancing problem as to why the reloads are fixed for a reason, regardless of whether there's still a round in the chamber.
@@P3RF3CTD3ATH yeah I know it's never gonna happen but a man can still cope 🙏
Fluids and smoke simulation looks super impressive.
The smoke effects are silly and are in no way realistic.
@@raurmanproductions3438 Which online game has better working smoke?
What a great graphics settings tab, and the water physics are sweet.
All flat geometry using parallax to make it look 3D.
after so many years this is least what i was expecting , not much suprised by smoke but suprised by details of molotov and pond
Jack going back to CS makes me nostaligic for the Cha & Azzy days 😟
And yes Jack I've been watching for that long!
You’re a legend, thank you 🙏
3:45 You could do self boost in csgo too but it was much harder to achieve for low skilled movement players. also every nade is inspectable now including c4.
Nades being inspectable is goated
CS:Source had the bells that worked. When we played in CAL/CPL, that's basically all we did on that map.
And cgso didnt?
Whattt 🤯 will have to get back into CS
I played CS 1.6 religiously with my friends during high school in the early 2000s, I haven't played since source. This looks incredible.
Wow these game physics look super impressive. Always look forward to you having fun with a new game and showing off its features.
Amazing graphics, looks like an actual upgrade to all the previous counter strikes, brings back so many memories.
Brilliant video capturing all the minute details like the smoke and algae.
Seeing Jack playing CS again is amazing. Didn't realize how much I missed it
WOOW, so the weapons make different noises when you drop them? How genius of Valve. This is mind blowing.
His accent always makes every explanation and excitement so much better!
that recoil follow setting will make me play it just for that. Huge
All they did was make it lag more and change smokes
It's a joy to see all these details and clever training options that Valve put into this episode. Even though I'm an absolutely low casual player (who mostly plays CS with bots and friends), I'm also looking forward to the launch - it just looks fantastic.
My only gripe is with the weapon animations - they look pretty dated, especially when considering the model quality. I hope Valve will update those as well before the 'live' launch.
Looks amazing!
As someone just now getting into CS, and multiplayer shooters in generall, follow recoil is such a great feature!
It's so amazing none of us can even play it yet even though they said it was coming out in summer.
Get a rank in CSGO and you will be invited within a few days
@@evilleader1991 You're a legend, thank you!
Felt sponsored, Jack.
Takes so much away from the fun.
i agree with you, i play more cs then before. like csgo i had 1 hour a week now a whole day!
crazy how source2 is already 9 years old
I hope they make an actual game with all this new tech

7:30 Glass breaking sound is exactly the same as in Happy Wheels. Brought back some nostalgia
Can't wait to try it!
exact same, played from the beta 3 in 1998 to the end of source. i had a little shot of CSgo but didnt really like it. This looks worth a shot when I have some time
This is a game I'm super interested in but will never play because there's so many people that are so good from the first iteration that the skill Gap is far too large for a newbie
cant win em all, might as well have fun
There's a casual mode which will probably be implemented in the release
I played a lot of cs:s and csgo even tho I've always been terrible at them, they're still fun. Surfing / gun game / fight yard servers are a lot more casual

Valve casually doing what they do best. which is show every other dev that their efforts in mechanics and details are just so basic compared to what they could be. it has to a balance of satisfying graphics with amusing gameplay.
Shooting through the smoke was immense. Craziest thing i've seen in awhile
After 12 years of CSGO the best Valve can do is release a re-skinned version of CSGO instead of a brand new CS game. Not impressed...
I'm not a CS player, but for 2023, this doesn't look impressive to me at all. Maybe there's something I don't understand, but there you go.
Sometimes people don’t care your opinion since it “too hot” to “take”
"I'm not a CS player"
Yeah explains why you feel like that.

Amazing. No overdrive RT or lumen or whatever expensive crap they need us to upgrade to. Just basic stuffs implemented so well and detailed with love from the devs.
It actually DOES have real time ray tracing, but only for the level editor
Super informative for someone 5 years ago was new to csgo, I am very eager to try the new source physics. Especially for team fortress which is going to be a whole new level.
in csgo nobody cared about the graphics. everyone just wanted as much fps as possible. but whats really important is the anticheat and matchmaking. Ive already seen videos of cheater teams stomping on enemies and proplayer and not getting banned. cs2 will also die very fast if they dont step up their anticheat which i think they are not able to...
The way Jack said "Ooohhhh..." at 1:23 while examining the liquid in the bottle was sus in the funniest way possible.
It's great, they kept the gameplay model and just made everything look good for those pro clips to be visually awesome
This video was important to watch. Follow recoil is good. I was playing CS 1.6 and CS: S before anyone knew about it.
1:00 when a player comes through the smoke they bring a little smoke with them too, so cool
Looks really good. Just kinda miss CS:GO.
The moving crosshair is a game changer.Been playing since 99 and i still havent fully got the paterns down. This helps with that
I just can't get over the fact that they named it Counter-Strike 2 when this is about their 5th one, proving that Valve truly can't count past 2.
