I'm excited to play this whenever I find the time, it's the first Guilty Gear game I've managed to pick up early in its life cycle.
As someone who lives in southern Africa, I'm happy the netcode works so well when playing with people in the Europe lobby, barely any lagged matches in the betas. Though I wish one day we could get an Africa lobby so it would be easier to find people closer to connect with.

@@unknownchristian341I recommend mk11. It's beginner friendly, plenty of Africans play it and great netcode. The only problem is that it has scrubby characters.
There's only like 3 reviews online for this game so thank you for reviewing it and pointing out the positives and negatives. I never played Guilty Gear so I am really on the fence about getting it and trying it.

@@sanjitgill9429 It's pretty good. The music is great and the animations are really good. Some of the characters are kind of hard to learn but that's part of fighting games.

I just need a good soundtrack to dump hours into a game and I got my favorite soundtrack now with even more music.

Top garbage
I got today GG Strive, and fuck, what an amazing game! This is one of the most friendly games for newcomers, the missions are great for learning, the characters are uber cool (sure, Ryu, you are an all honour warrior, but Sol BadGuy carries a gunsword weapon and drives an Akira like motorcycle, you tell me which one is cooler). My PC is a potato that doesn't even meet the minimum requirements, but tinkering with the sliders I can play GG-S at 60FPS and not destroy with burning heat my system. Sure, with the options I select a lot of the incredible artwork is lost, but plays like a charm. And even better, this is the first fighting game I get so early in its life cycle!

I'm happy to see that this very old, classic genre is *finally* getting decent online support. Because that's what's kept me from playing all kinds of fighters. Hell, I didn't even know things like this were an issue (I used to only play competitive shooters). So when I got my first brawler (platform brawler, SSBU) I... well... let's just say I've only put in like 20 hours since launch because the online is a-tro-ci-ous and the extra input lag alone is enough for me to never touch it again.
Congrats on 200k subs Globku! My Hero One's Justice brought me to the channel and I'm glad I stayed!

I knew ArcSys would delivery on quality, my only gripe is that they wasted resources to make that weird lobby system instead of like, adding more characters or IKs
Most likely the lobby was done by some people who aren't given responsibilty over characters and even then I doubt the work that went into the lobby would equal the work that goes to making a new character. And this is not a jab at the lobby, personally I like it.
@@fearhunger3983 Idk man ArcSys is always very proud of their weird lobbies. Same thing with DBFZ. But hey, we got great net code this time, so I'll put up with a shitty lobby.

I've been playing from Chile with people at US East Coast with only 2 or 3 rollback frames and it feels fantastic. That rollback thing is really something.
This is my first guilty gear game and have really been enjoying it , a great change moving from fighterz👍🏽
So, I'm just an occasional viewer of your channel, but, I must say, this review is fantastic. You go so in depth, even talking about the relationship chart and so on, the uniqueness of arcade mode, even the animation quality of story mode... Great job!

Played the beta of this game and haven't had this much fun with a fighting game in years. Never played a GG gear but I'm getting it when it goes on sale for sure. Zato is my guy
So I've never played a fighting game before (any fighting game. No tekken no Mortal Kombat. Nothing) but I wanted to try a fighting game recently. Guilty gear strive has an art style that I really like, but I'm a bit worried that I will get overwhelmed with mechanics since it's my first fighting game. I wonder what you guys think. Will it be enjoyable, or should I try a different fighting game first to see if the genre is for me? I was thinking about Injustice, mortal kombat, tekken, dragon ball and guilty gear. Guilty gear looks most appealing to me, but I'm worried about the mechanics
I just want to help sorry my English broken bruh, So its fine as long you has interest with the game. GG Strive is made for newcomer, its has everything even the best mission mode (aka tutorial). Tekken 7 its good but are you sure? Every characters in Tekken 7 has more than 50 moveset. DBFZ is beginner friendly, but can you stand the netcode?. Injustice 2 is old game and its not popular in FGC. What about MK 11? its has some problem in balancing their roster. My advice 1. if you into 2D game, pick GG Strive, because its fresh fighting game right know, there a lot new guide for this game in youtube
2. If you into 3D game, pick Virtua Fighter Ultimate showdown, because its new and its free for PSN

This comment blew my mind, I realized I almost never looked at his sub count and do to the sheer quality always thought he had over 1 mil
First of all congrats on 200K, secondly..... I would probably rank it as B, what this game does is really good, but when u compare it to GG Xrd Rev 2, yeah it doesn't feel the same and I understand that this was the approach they were aiming for, however the game is slower, shorter combos, and the idea that give short combos but give big damage, isn't much of a solution, it adds more depth to the fighting style but I felt that idk it just feels less rewarding, no instant kills is a big bummer and I doubt that they will add it, the roster is small, yes it's unique but uts small come on, there are characters that should have made it to the game like Baiken, Dizzy, for example, and maybe Answer, and u know they are adding them in the season pass which makes me feel more bad lol, but I'm feeling optimistic for it, I just hope they FKNG fix the way bars look, the UI for this game sucks ass, the Hits count, the counters, the health bar, risk bar, burst bar, tension bar, it all looks terrible and that's odd considering the fact the game looks gorgeous

They did a good job with roman cancels but it feels like combos revolve around them. Also its not helping beginners. They took away options but kept the execution just as hard (if not harder in some ways) I think the game is fine, but I think they did it backwards. Chains are more convoluted I feel like the marketing is what makes ppl feel like it's more approachable, but imo it's almost a placebo effect they should have made it easier to execute while removing some of the overly complex stuff, but keeping alot of the options. look at dbfz. Strive is less beginner friendly in some ways in terms of execution.
We can only hope that the online experience continues to see updates and fixes overtime.
Until then, there's no denying that much like what Killer Instinct was for the start of the last generation, Guilty Gear Strive has set the bar in terms of all fighting games to follow in terms of overall presentation. Can't wait to see the upcoming fighters and how Strive will evolve in the coming months.

I don't know if Instant Kill would ever comeback because it would broken for certain character, for example Mr. Low. Imagine got time stop and then the opponent IK you, that would be so frustrating, at least for me.
And I guess all the cinematic beauty is inputted into the character supers, even though not the same still better not having any.
But if Arc System Work still want to implement IK into the game, they have to make it really hard to execute or else it would be a broken move.
I would just prefer blitz to come back, dust to become more dynamic like it used to be, completely change stage size back to how the used to be and change how the wall works. I would rather them put that effort into that, but thats just me. also i dont really like red rc Or the combos either there very boring except certain characters.
Guilty Gear has been my favorite fighting game series since I was 8 when I played on the PS2 with my brother.

I wish this game was on Switch because I don’t own a PS5 Or a PC so I didn’t get a chance to play it but I heard good things about it like The Supers are all cinematic kinda like DragonBall FighterZ
The game is great even with "gutted" combos. My main gripe is still the awful UI and lobbies. Also IDK why frame data isn't here on base release but it WILL BE ADDED. Instant Kills being gone is fine for me as they probably ate up dev time.
But the biggest problem for me is the roster. I'm only interested in 2 characters (Nago, and Anji) and can't justify paying $60 just for them. I'll probably pick this up next year and hopefully mods can fix the UI on PC

as long as the actual matches feel good and boy they feel good. Good netcode is important for me specialy since I live in latino america (panama). I dont have many friends willing to do offline matches with me so online is the only way. And this is some of the best online Ive had. Def getting the full version

I like the fact that you have to repeat the tutorials 5 times. I'm horrible when it comes to learning combos. It's like an incentive

Yes.
The best fighting game out there right now IMO. Its casual enough for people to pick it up without experience but its detailed and nuanced enough for people who are hardcore into fighting games. Roman cancels feels so good, I want that in every other game I play now.(There are kara-cancels in most games but its not the same as an intended mechaninc)
Its quite fun but dbzfz still the best imo

That combo maker thing sounds insane
The fact that there are no insta kills pisess me off so much.
Ill still play strive, mainly training mode and arcade like most fighters I play, but it feels slow and clunky to me because of the nerf to gameplay. I get that it's trying to attract more casual players and that's good but if it's possibly the last game of the series I hope we at least get the full roster from old and new games. Even though I've been a Jam main since the beginning I feel like playstyle wise alot of players, veterans or Xrd Players, will main Giovanni because she strongly represents the older games playstyles more. Kinda goes to show you how most players still wanna play guilty gear like the older games. Heck there's already a crap ton of Giovanni videos on YT, so I forsee huge nerfs in her future. Chip might be a second most mained due to his speed in a game where everyone regardless of speed feels like playing Potemkin. In my opinion ACPR and Rev2 are the best iterations of the game old and new. Roster wise ACPR had the most complete barring the XRD characters and some older game characters like A.B.B.A.
Its not the last game of the series, if you play story mode, you will understand its the end of "SOL BADGUY", next GG its still can happen but this GG its longtime span like SFV
@@Aripuni1 I'm aware it's pulling a KH3. I'm just saying I want a full roster of all the characters from the old games he's been involved in. They've been taken out for canon reasons like death, or in slayers case retirement, but I just want every character back even if it's just for one game. AC+R was the closest to doing so back in the PS2 era, it was missing only 1 or 2 characters from the games before it, Been hating this roster trend with fighting games for a long time tbh.
If it feels "slow and clunky" to you, then you aren't playing it properly.
@@donkeydarko77 you can play a game correctly and it can still feel clunky. It's up to patches and fixes from there. The games still new so it's got a chance to tidy up some issues.

The animation in Story mode
I feel like you gave them A just to look good to the developers. There are way too many negatives in GG Strive compared to the positives (graphics, sound)
1) 50% of the combos removed
2) Instant Kill removed
3) Terrible lobby system
4) Insanely terrible waiting for server loading
5) terrible UI that after 3 betas they didnt change 1 single thing
6) missing arcade cutscenes
7) Day 1 selling of a DLC
Not sure if those Pop Ups like "3 THREE" or "COUNTER" etc are considered to be User Interface, but these graphics are ugly af and are taking away from the overall aesthetic of the game, bummer.
The UI is the smoothest UI I've seen in a while imo. Love it.
1) You're exaggerating. Also a fighting game doesn't need a billion combos to be good lol.
2) Instant Kills don't affect the game for any reason whatsoever.
3) The lobbies aren't as bad as ppl make it out to be.
4) The loading is annoying but it really shouldn't affect the whole game in your eyes as it'll probably change as Arcsys updates the game.
5) The UI is actually good. Its problem however is that it looks so uninspired for Guilty Gear.
6) That sucks. But at least they went out of their way to make dialogue intros for every character. Tag mode is fun too.
7) They aren't even selling Day 1 dlc. If you mean the DLC is coming VERY early then you'd make more sense but that isn't a problem in of itself especially when you aren't forced to buy the DLC packs or you can just buy the few characters you're interested in.
LOL i wonder what so special gameplay mechanic about IK??, They already made damage high, if they added IK its 100% useless, and arcade cutscene ?? its so stupid, they gave you fun broken boss to fight, if you want story.. go play story mode its the right place, its like you never played another fighting game

I'm not sure of any bad music in Strive but when I hear that the singer start singing in my ear during battle and us punching each other into the walls is reason enough to try the game. The other fighting games feel so plain in comparison. Mortal Kombat s x-rays are epic as everything gets silent as you fuck the enemy up 😂

Good net code? Can one of there developers tell Nintendo how to do it ?, because Smash Bros Ultimate Online is horrible.
How viable do you think it would be to use either a xbox / steam controller on PC? Or is it more or less a no-go if you dont have a fighting stick?
The game is very controller-friendly. Full button mapping, and you can even map Dash and RC/Burst to single buttons.

I've had to do some insane stuff in Guilty Gear... Strive is nowhere near as complex and has far less depth than any other Guilty Gear. Street Fighter 5 has more depth than Guilty Gear Strive. Never have I felt so limited in a fighting game. It's basically playing as basic as humanly possible. If that's your idea of Guilty Gear craziness, you've most likely never played any other Guilty Gear. I'm sorry, but your review feels soooo full of it.

I still can't wrap my head around how that god awful lobby got approved???? And of the pc version start is a shitshow again cos of no beta :( The datamining is just a lazy excuse, how hard is it to not include those dlc char folders in the build?

I would say the story is pretty mediocre in execution. I like the plot points but dialogue is too wordy and inefficient. Scene and certain shots are too long by seconds or even frames that slow the pace to a drag.
But aside from Mortal Kombat, there isn't another fighting game with a better story mode.

Anyone experiencing any server issues on pc? Played the beta on ps4 but bought it on pc and Im a little worried, can't find many matches without experiencing errors and such...
Ohhh this is the dude people on Rkappa are talking about, this dude thinks Majin Obama is a gatekeeper :D i dont agree, Obama seems like a nice dude that is very interested in growing the community, the dude commentates tournaments, streams and does arcade story time vids on youtube etc., i think he does plenty of things to grow the community.
Globku is the kind of guy this game is made for (no wonder he is shilling like crazy), Strive is for this new generation players Arcsys has cultivated with accessible games like Gran Blue and Dragonball FighterZ. People that are super casual and are more weeb than player, fanboys basically.
I mean only fanboys with rose tinted glasses on would be paying triple a money for a beta with unpolished game mechanics....While Arcsys is thinking "Let the players figure it out" and "we can patch it later...." I personally just cant support these kinds of releases anymore.
Arcsys has made too many mistake in trying to appeal to everyone while alienating the original hardcore crowd BUT thats okay, cause we still got GGXX+R on Steam and also Xrd and so many other games, let the next generation enjoy this one ^_^

I read that the PS4 version gets free PS5 upgrade, is this true? And is it the same full PS5 version? If so, what's the purpose of buying the PS5 specific version?

Ps5 does 4k resolution. That's about it. It also comes with a downside, which is ps5 games can only be played with the dualsense. No sticks or ps4 controller
