- Pet ownership is on the rise due to COVID-19 and vets are busier than ever. On The Red Dot enters the clinics of three of Singapore’s busiest vets, for a look at what happens at the vets.
Rescue dog Milo is a 12-year-old Golden Retriever that has been living with a debilitating spinal injury for years. He has come to Dr Jean-Paul Ly for a difficult surgery to repair his nerve damage, in the hopes that he may live out the rest of his days without pain.
Maltese Tofu had his jaw removed due to cancer. He has returned to see Dr Lee Yee Lin for a quick check up and removal of his stitches.
Luna the cat has taken a tumble from thirteen storeys, breaking her leg in the process. Can Dr Nicholas Woo change her bandages without getting scratched by Luna?

the fact that being a vet is considered not a good job when compared to other medical jobs is wrong. Vets deserve as much respect as a brain surgeon or a heart surgeon or even more
Vet industry is a really stressful field. But is so worth it when you see patients go home happier. Kudos to my clinic's vets, mad respect.
Milo is now free from pain and suffering. Rest well 😭

Vets are as honourable as human doctors or anyone working in the medical field. It's similar - they do the diagnosis, perform surgery, and deal with complicated cases and stressed out patients. I'm so glad that they censored the bleeding part of the surgery, I wouldn't be able to take it, I can't imagine having to deal with this 24/7, mad respect for the vets

I have degenerative disc disease and am getting injections in my spine for pain relief. I feel for Milo he is in great pain suffering every day since his injury or breakdown of his disc's. I was hoping he after surgery would be in better condition. I just started watching this video a d made the mistake of looking at comments. Which said he passed away 1 month after surgery. How sad is that, to go through so much pain a d suffering only to die in the end. Poor baby has crossed the rainbow bridge. Now he is in heaven resting and running and playing with all the other doggy's and cats and animals that get along. ❤️✝️❤️🐾🐶❤️

I understand the love for Milo means we want him to survive. But he is in so much pain. Isn't it better to put him to sleep years ago? Is it nature's course to keep such a sick dog alive? Genuine question not trying to say animal's life are worthless.
Yes, if something happen to your pet and cause pain for he/she, better put him/her down than let the pet suffer.
@@ssmthna21 yes, before anyone becomes a pet owner, you must know that one day, your time together will pass. Animals are not supposed to live for an exceptionally long time and definitely not built for chemotherapy or what nots

True. The problem is humans think their dogs should live as long as them. I don't think so. Fact is this, when owners agree to let the vets put down their dogs, they leave the room because they can't bear to see their dogs die. But the dogs don't understand why their most important owner decides to leave them when they are dying. Don't save the dog unnecessarily. But be with them when they are about to go.

I don't understand why they didn't put Milo out of his misery already. 12 is old and if he needs such a dangerous surgery to get a little bit of his life back, it's best to just put him to sleep. It may sound cruel but at that point you're just torturing that poor thing.

In NUS, there is a Joint cooperate course with University of Melbourne. This is the cheapest way to get into Vet course. Or else u need to go overseas and study Veterinary Science or Doctor of Veterinary medicine.

As with human medical practice there is a time to say NO MORE, provide pain relief and sedation and allow release. At least humans can make these decisions for themselves, animals are at the mercy of their owners and the carers.
