Yugioh was never intended for kids. In Japan the OVG official age range is 13+. And the manga is for teen. Shonen manga are primarily intended for male teenagers. Despite the translation of the word Shonen. Plus the rules are more complex and the only reason the TCG and English dub are aimed at kids is due to censorship and because at the time America thought anything animated was more profitable for kids though in Japan that was not the case. So by censoring and knowing that that point in time when Yugioh came out in the USA or Europe cards games hear were more catered towards kids. Even though Magic was a thing. But kids played magic too. Mainly Pokémon was the main reason.
I’m a bit confused. They say Main Phase 1 and 2 are pretty much the same, but in Main Phase 2 your options are more limited based of your choices in Main Phase 1. So what can you do in Main Phase 2 depending on your choices in Main Phase 1?
Jean Reotutar if you normal summon in main phase 1 or mp1 for short you can't normal summon again on mp2.Mp2 is important for setting cards or activating card effects that you couldn't do in mp1.If you don't normal summon in mp1 you can in mp2

@ultraisaac2 ...TCG = Trading Card Game. It also refers to version of Duel Monsters cards translated into other languages outside of Japan. OCG = Official Card Game refers to the original Japanese Duel Monster cards. You are right, 4,000 life points is the starting life points in all the Yugioh manga and animes. How to play Yu-Gi-Oh!: 1st Step: Earn money to pay for at least 5 Case's of Cards. 2nd Step: Get a Rule book, calculator, a coin, and a Deck and a Extra Deck. 3rd Step: Read the Rule Book to study about to Duel and How-To-Play. 4th Step: Try to get some tactics and strategies for to win, make sure you have Spell/Traps/Monster Cards for your deck. for Example, if you have a Deck full and only monsters, you would lose most of the time, you need Spell/Trap cards as well for a better way to win easy, but not only that, you need also Fusion monsters, XYZ Monsters, ETC. 5th Step: Try to Practice, it's a good way to perform a perfect combo to inflict some damage to your opponent, but be careful, not only you practice your cards right, there might be people out there whom is a Expert on Duelling, and also and last, try to counter and be careful about your opponent cards, he might be have better cards than you. But if you disagree with me, that's fine, don't take my word for it. :P
Don't NEED a coin OR a game mat... Some players do rock paper scissors or go by looking at the bottom card of the deck, the closest to the A goes decided who goes first. If the first letter is the same go to the next letter and so on. Though some of the people I play with have some of the same cards as I do. There are some playable monsters without effects(look up alexandrite dragon). It is just that most players these days are more serious and know better strategies and cards because they can find them online pretty easily. Not many tournament decks had many normal type monsters even back in 2004. (look up Shonen Jump Championships on yugioh wiki) Also, you can just play virtually if you don't have the cards.
