Senator Merkley co-chaired a Congressional-Executive Commission on China hearing titled, “Preserving Tibet: Combatting Cultural Erasure, Forced Assimilation and Transnational Repression” on March 28, 2023.

Senator Merkley also recently introduced the bipartisan Transnational Repression Policy Act to make sure that foreign governments and individuals are held accountable when they stalk, intimidate, or assault people across borders, including within the United States.
