    Great video. I should have watched your video before I used this jig. I drilled a hole into the blue back part of the jig because I did not use the round stop bit on my drill. Ha ha ha. lesson learned.

    So I am pushing in those two grey pieces but cannot get mine to adjust at all! It will not budge.

    • @CharlestonCrafted
      @CharlestonCrafted  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, ours is hard to adjust too. It is tight for sure. Best advice I can give is make sure you aren't pushing against the piece you're trying to move. I've done that a bunch, pushing down and I'm working against myself. Just hold the sides at the top. Hope that helps, but I understand the frustration.

    • @emilyr533
      @emilyr533 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CharlestonCrafted Yea it’s definitely hard. I’m just pushing both in and trying to pull up to get it to 1 1/2” but it’s just not moving.

      @@CharlestonCrafted Is there a way I can get that black piece off to maybe try to adjust it off of the whole jig itself?

    Ive had this for awhile , it does work great, but no 5/8 setting ?

    • @espressomatic
      @espressomatic 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or metric. A lot of sheet goods are metric, even when not labeled as such.

  • @robbiekowal

    Thanks for the runthrough. I am curious if you have an opinion on the proper positioning if I am using 5/4 lumber. I have 5/4 stepping lumber for shelving.

    • @CharlestonCrafted
      @CharlestonCrafted  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. The 520 only allows you to set for 1/2", 3/4" and 1 1/2" thick wood, so 1 1/4" would not have a setting. You would have to either go short or long and drill accordingly.

  • @steveharvey6841
    @steveharvey6841 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great review, thanks. our standard board thickness is 16mm (5/8") can the jig be used for this size?

    • @CharlestonCrafted
      @CharlestonCrafted  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not this one. You’d be better off with the Kreg 720 that auto adjusts to the thickness of your wood, instead of having set stops like this one

    • @wwolfram33
      @wwolfram33 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Choose the option that closely matches 5/8th. The thickness gauge shows you a thickness gap to use for each thickness option.For example, 3/4 on the thickness gauge shows you a window of ~ 1/8 " above AND below 3/4 setting on the tool. It does NOT have to be exactly 1/2, 3/4 or 1-1/2" In your case, you would use the 1/2 setting on the tool.

    Hi the hole spacing has 3 holes two are together why is this and what holes does one use and why?

    • @CharlestonCrafted
      @CharlestonCrafted  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on what size board you’re using. The holes are lined up so you don’t have to adjust on certain sizes

    I just bought this but when i drill and that round thingie touches the kreg, the drill bit comes out of my drill. Am i doing something wrong or i need to buy an expensive drill too? Not happy so far. I have an 5amp 3/8 inch corded drill from Walmart..

    • @CharlestonCrafted
      @CharlestonCrafted  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You definitely don't need an expensive drill, we use a Ryobi, which is very inexpensive. I think you might just need to tighten it a bit more.

    It supposedly replace the K4, but I don't see a vacuum connector, it is an accesory?

    • @CharlestonCrafted
      @CharlestonCrafted  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, you're right. It is supposed to be the replacement for the K4, but I personally think the 720 is more of a replacement for both the K4 and K5 and that this is a standalone new product. It's really handy, but not like the K4. There is no vacuum connector.

      The 520 doesn’t accommodate actual 1” thick wood, you’d need to get a 720 for that

    Great review!! I currently own the K4 and was thinking of picking the 520 pro up. Do you think it's worth it? Or just stick with K4? I mainly do DIY woodworking projects

    • @CharlestonCrafted
      @CharlestonCrafted  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Personally, I don't think the 520 replaces the K4. That's what it's supposed to do, but I think the 720 replaces the K4. The 520 to me is different and is for larger pieces of wood. I don't see it as the same functionality of the K4. I now use the 720 like I always did the K4.
