Hello, I've made them over the years with all kinds of paper (except super thin tissue types) and it has always work (also occasionally viewers will share their progress pics for my other honeycomb ornament videos)... With thinner/lighter weight papers sometimes you may have a little bumpiness from the glue though. I don't personally think it looks bad even with the bumps.
