Thought Ryan Moore's ride on Danon Smash in the Sprint was the ride of the night. Breaking from the widest post position, stall #14, he still finished all over the top of the Sprint field on Danon Smash. Not an easy feat at all to overcome being drawn so wide your almost in the Sha Tin river and still win a 6F sprint race in Hong Hong.
Clearly a good horse, I think Ryan Moore done well there. This is a jockey who has a racing brain and played it cool. He was patient and the horse had plenty to give. I’ve never heard of him till now but I’d back that horse if I see it out again. Should come to UK for some of our big sprints, would pick up decent prize money here and in France.
I thought Mogul winning the Hong Kong Vase was the easiest single of the four G1 races. He was the highest rated horse in the field with an international rating of 121, rated a pound superior to Exultant at 120, and as the only 3YO in the field was getting a 5 lb. weight for age break on the other 6 runner's. Mogul carried 121 lbs. while the rest carried 126 lbs. Although given how easily and convincingly he beat Exultant, I'm not sure he really needed the weight break.
GBeret83 I think the 3yr old weight allowance done the job. Plus he will still be an improving colt at that age, will be an even better horse next season back in U.K. and will win more Group races for sure.
rubles Fair statement but speed figures don’t always stand up when racing on a new track after travelling across the world. He still had to be right and ready to take this. Good speed figured and even the weight allowance don’t always account for the win, he is probably still improving too but in all honesty, didn’t look the deepest field.
@@phobsdsr4326 yeah you're right, he had to make quite the journey to get there. A good traveler is a great quality in a horse. Hopefully he stays in training as a 4 y.o, the best is yet to come.
Danon Smash got me some $$

What a day of racing.
Real Group 1 runners
Ryan Moore always has a good meeting here. Mogul was probably trained for this one.
@@phobsdsr4326 mogul had the highest speed figure out of the field and a 5lb 3y.o weight allowance, it was kinda obvious he was gonna win.
