This bike was my very first owned bike. I bought it when I was stationed at MCRD, San Diego, CA. I had a big Vetter fairing with saddle bags and a great windshield. I was 20 years old and drove from San Diego, CA to Chambersburg, PA for my first HS class reunion in 1975. After the reunion, I met my wife and we're still married and have two sons and two grandchildren. I hated to leave but I had to get back to San Diego to assume my duty post. I have many great memories of this bike and the round trip. Thanks for showing the bike. 👍🏽🤠 3/28/23
I bought my orange 1974 Suzuki GT750L when I was 19. I'll never forget the perfect balance and that wonderful powerband. I took great pride in keeping the carbs synchronized and adjusting the dwell on the points to spec. Great ride.
I had one exactly like that, bought brand new in 1974. The funny thing is... I was a mechanic for Yamaha motorcycle !!! They didn't do liguid cool motorcycle at that time. Later, they won a lot of races with their version of liquid cool 750 race bikes.
Bought this exact orange '74 new and took her out west with a couple buddies and 3000 miles in 2 weeks. Loved the bike, never a problem. I did spin the front forks around and had the first calipers behind the axle street bike. May '74. People were freaking out. Sprung weight you know.
I had a red 74; I loved the riding position; not to high or low in the saddle and a smooth ride, too. Very bad in corners at high speed. I blew second gear several times!
It's interesting the way tastes change over the decades. I couldn't stand two-stroke street bikes back in the day. That ring - a - ding - ding - ding exhaust sound totally turned me off. IMO two-strokes were only good for dirt bikes. (I had three altogether.) I still don't like the exhaust sound of a two-stroke multi but I do like the light weight and low center of gravity. I may just have to put my teenaged mechanical prejudices to rest and get a classic two-stroke street bike.
I have one just like this one. Same color. Mine has a Suzuki, frame mounted fairing. I’m ashamed to say it’s been setting in the shed for twenty years. Chrome is shot and aluminum is tarnished. Any one interested in a challenge?
I absolutely hate videos where the audio sucks like this one does. Note to content provider, in camera mics suck, get a wireless mic if you are trying to make a "professional" video.
