Not sure if you know it or not but IMS radio network gave you a big shout out this afternoon about your podcast. They gave you a lot of compliments about your content. Your nightly updates have been pretty much spot on. Keep up the good work.
Watching you from an emergency room. Had to get rushed to hospital by ambulance at 130pm. Now 940pm and still in ER. JOY... NOT.
Hope you get better soon man
@sh14ty Thank you. Been in a-fib since 120pm. Not fun.
Praying it's alright. You got a 500 to watch!
Hope you have a speedy recovery
Feel better brother!
Robin Miller sent the rain as retribution for the series cutting the majority of practice time
I concur. Four practice days before time trials isn't nearly enough, plus starting practice on a weekday is lame. I hope they consider moving the Indy GP to a week earlier, and start practice on the Saturday of Mother's Day weekend, from 9am-7pm every day until qualifications. It's time to put the main focus of the month of May back on the 500 again.
I met Sato, Power, Mclaughlin, Hunter-Reay , Daly , Ferrucci ,Palou , Simpson. Every single one was super friendly.
Will Power and Alex Palou were the best to us. It was a great day in that regards. I have so much respect for Will Power watching him signing for tons of people and with a smile on his face. I love Indycar.
will
power is a different person now after his wife’s illness
@@johncole5286I heard Power was much nicer to the fans after his first title.
But holy cow I’m so glad to hear he’s even more different after her illness. Happy that Liz is still doing okay!
Will Power is definitely a character and has been really nice all the times we’ve talked to him. One time he even jumped in on a FaceTime call with our family in Taiwan because he thought we were filming for our son to meet him, haha. It was really funny. Our son and his son are near the same age. All the drivers are very friendly and open to meeting the fans, which is why I like IndyCar a lot. We’ve met several throughout the years. Scott McLaughlin remembered us from the previous year and asked how we were doing, which felt really neat that he’d remembered.
I've gotten to work and meet with Power several times and he is, without a doubt, one of the best people in the garage.
All my homies love Will Power
Can't believe more cars didn't take advantage of the track today figured see way more laps
I hope everyone gets lots of practice tomorrow so we can see some real speed on Saturday and Sunday
Sunday is very hot so no chance and Saturday is pretty hot. We’re not gonna see speed this year. Past weekend was ideal.
RIP Eddie Gossage
A true race fan, RIP
Oh man, gone too soon. RIP definitely miss him at TMS our home track. Lots of things changing now.
Just met my dude at Oreilys on Main Street what a LEGEND!!!
So who is your dude?
@@MowersNBlowers David
These videos just get better and better. TY for the coverage DL.
Larson kinda got screwed by McLaren today. Can’t believe he ran so few laps
the team changed his engine
@@HorrorDoxstill should've had more laps.
@@HorrorDox The car was ready early in the afternoon.
This ain't no tin top buddy. Do you auctual think McLaren purposely kept him out of the car? Chevy called for the engine change as well. @@gbpckr34
Love the history segment. Serious RPM2Night vibes here. Keep it up, David!
Appreciate report David !
Great coverage!!!!!!
Good coverage. Keep it up.
100% the best Indy content on the internet. My morning routine, coffee and catch up on the motorsport news from across the pond with David Land. Interesting to hear the Le Mans/Indy winners piece.
Definitely best on the internet.. great stuff as always David 👍.
Need JR Hildebrand's idea implemented for a return to full month of May. Make it a big deal and have cars on track May 1st! You can still take planned breaks later in the month but it safe guards from weather way more than this set up.
No margin at all for inclement weather.
By far the best coverage on the internet.
Pagenaud also raced Le Mans last year in a LMP2 with COOL Racing
You were mentioned today on on MRN.
Kyle Larson brought the NASCAR rain gods with him to Indy this week.
Those were some hard hits
This is definitely going to be one of the most unpredictable and stressful Qualifying sessions we have seen for the Indianapolis 500 in a long time. I just don’t know who jumps out to sit on the pole and who will be the lone driver who gets bumped out. Right now it kinda looks like Dixon and Palou may be going head to head with Penske and then maybe throw in a McLaren by chance. I personally don’t know at this point. Great Coverage David as always and I look forward to the weekend of Qualifying. 🏁🏁🏁🏁👍👍👍👍👍
If Siegel makes the race, he'll be breaking expectations imo. Even with the others crashing I still think he's the most likely one to get bumped from the field.
It’s rained for 2 months, way more than normal
It's now called global wetting
Funny looking clouds... hmmm
Shhh. If you make a point of saying something about the rain, next thing you know it’s more weird climate change etc… It’s not. It has just rained more than usual this year. Sheesh!
@@markvincent5992Reminds me of 1996, the first year of the split- rained practically the entire month.
"Best stuff on the internet". Indeed!
Isn't Linus Lundqvist's chassis the same one Marcus Ericcson finished 1st and 2nd in?
If so, that's one hell of a coincidence.
David, 2006 comes to mind. Had a rain system that just wouldn't go away that year.
Thanks David always enjoy your reports . Thank goodness the two kiwi Scott drivers did’t visit the wall
A J also won the USAC Championship in 1967! He was competing against some very stout USAC heavyweights including Mario Andretti, Bobby Unser, Lloyd Ruby and up and coming Gordon Johncock!
This schedule is so stupid. I’ll be the one to complain
AUDIO LEVELS! That intro has made me shit my pants a few times now. You owe me 2 pants, 2 undies and a couch.
Hopefully, Marcus' back up car will prevent him from getting in the way of Pato to win this year.
Racing Gods vs Charter System!
No contest
I just hope Larson has a good car under him come race day.
Yes I was referring to that old crash. I
Does anyone know when the speeds will start picking up? Tomorrow, i would think weather permitting.
Yeah tomorrow they will get after it more with the boost being turned up.
Ericsson called his agent can i get back on ganassi for the 500 and the rest of the year. robb or siegal will be bumped.
Pole speed estimates?
man i think Marcus shouldn't have changed teams...he seems distracted and having a ride problem in andretti...he was on a great trajectory before
the switch to andretti may be harming marcus this year😬
Ironic that Linus crashed in Marcus's old ride. Glad both were ok.
Interesting history segment, although it omits that Graham Hill is the only driver to have won the Triple Crown. I'd say that counts for something regardless of the differing years.
The #17 team changed the engine early Thursday morning and managed to only get Kyle out for 29 laps all day? You didn’t see MCLAREN boys running together as a team like others did all day. Kyle’s not going to learn much from 29 laps.
A lot of international racing fans considered the Indy 500 and Le Mans 24hr two parts of motor racings triple crown with the Monaco F1 GP being the third. Graham Hill is the only driver to achieve this and this is what Alonso was chasing a couple of years back as Indy is the only one he has yet not one.
Larson got screwed
team penske taught foyt everything they know about the indy 500 speed. but penske did not tell them all the information penske has. they only gave them enough to run around in the back so penske can win the race.
Doubtful
Oh please! Foyt was running Indy while The Captain was still a cadet. I’m pretty sure that AJ had won a couple of 500s before Roger quit driving sports cars. In fact it was quite the opposite; they learned from AJ.
I miss the apron .
20:46 Go Scottie Mac!
Remember.. Scott Dixon, Alex Palou, and Linus Lundqvist did NOT run out of the draft. The speeds will skyrocket on Saturday morning. Simply put.. if you don't run a 232 average, hello LCQ.
I can't easily find it, but I'm certain that the Foyt cars LAST year, didn't "wake up" until they were given the boost. Santino was 80-1 all week during practice last year (the best price of the week) then went to 12-1 immediately following day 1 of qualifying.
I can’t fathom trying to bet on a NASCAR race. It’s just a crap shoot for who gets the luck and who doesn’t. But I hear the bookies love it.
Absolutely. I play the Indy 500 as my only single race bet for fun, and I go for prices. I play the season also, for fun, won with Will Power two years ago. Nobody is making a living betting on motorsports.
Jackie Stewart had the best quip about betting on racing during the closing stages of the '81 500, and it went something like this- "Motor racing is something you can never bet any money on, because you've got these thousands of moving parts in one of these race cars, and all you can do is hope & pray that the car can do the job that's been prescribed- completing all the 200 laps"...and then Gordy Johncock promptly dropped out just a few laps after Sir Jackie said that.
!997 race was a rain mess.
16:52 - Mild objection to "a little less impressive", given Graham Hill is the only driver to have done the Triple Crown at all. Wins at Indy 500, Le Mans and Monaco/F1 title (definition varies on the latter, but he did both anyway).
Why are the back up cars slower bro???😮
Not dialed in yet. Preliminary setting until it gets on the track
Also, some teams back up cars are their road course and street cars, which have different setups for the different kind of racing and like was said before need to be dialed in.
@@marty0063 you are correct. The team would have brought along at least one extra car with the basic setting already in place.
That's not always the case - in 1991, Rick Mears hit the wall in Turn 1 on Fast Friday due to a mechanical failure. Then he jumped in a backup car just three hours later, and turned the fastest lap of the month at over 226mph. He ended up winning the pole and his 4th 500 in that backup machine.
@@tbh791 With the Penske organization, one can expect that sort of thing. I should think that 3 hours to prep a backup is about right, if the settings are up to date.
I'm not entirely sure how, but I'm pretty sure the rain is Tony George's fault
it’s penske’s fault. it’s always been his fault
Both these crashes looks to be running to close to the inside curb . Not a trimmed out crash.
The racing gods have been watching and they did not like Chip’s driving at the 24 hours of Daytona this year…
Even if a chassis is techinically repairable, I'm not confident you can just replace the affected suspension/steering components and end up with the racecar you had before the crash. Just sayin'.
It seems to me to practice in your backup car. Save the good car for after you crash the practice car.
Doesn’t work like that. You must declare what car you intend to qualify and I’m not sure if it is permitted to practice the spare until it is the primary.
The one you practice with will be set up differently than the other!
Take a shot every time he says Indianapolis motor speedway! He can’t just say at the track!
Hate this condensed schedule. Doesnt build hype locally like it used to. Then you get a week like this and it's a nightmare scenario. Figure out a way to make it a full month again.
So i guess one car will not make the field, i hope it's young money, get an early start to Charlotte. Bring back the all-star circuit of champions. Oh, brad sweet won a sprint car race in the series he owns. Woo-hoo!
I hope it’s Katherine legg, she just coasts every year. And never competitive. Such a waste of a car! Sting ray Robb too! Waste of a car! Put sage karam, David malukas, tony kanaan in it!
The coin cards don't look quite as fast as I'd like them too. Seriously🤣🤣🤣 ngaf what you like you're just a reporter
I have to say I used to be impressed with Kathrine Legge (met her at COTA when she was driving the DeltaWing car), however, she seems to be providing a lot of pre-emptive excuses. Doesn't have the confidence. I am sure there are many other female drivers that would instill more confidence in the car (for the sake of the team and her sponsors). A little disappointed tbh. [edit] so opinion sentiment toward Daly, too.
Didn’t she have a bad accident a couple years ago? Might be hard getting back on the big horse again.
A lot of drivers would of never came back after a crash like she had when her wing came off at Road America.
@@Phil00484 Do you mean 18 years ago? Yea, maybe. I spoke with Jan Heylen a week (at COTA) after his brakes failed (GT3D) going down the front stretch into T1 at Road America @ 180mph+ and he just sluffed it off and was always looking ahead to the next race.
So tell us David Land are you going to 'jinx' Scott Dixon again this year?. What are your predictions (race results) for every driver in this years Indy 500?.
This is earth and yes it rains, sometimes a lot. Why is this news?
50% of scheduled practice time plus the open test gone because of rain isn’t news for the rookies??
Spoiled brats having to postpone their fun
@@ABEnsteinI agree. But I think that the rookies will be fine,
I'd love for Colton to be at the pointy end, but I have a feeling it is Scotty Mc's year to win. He is prepared, eager, experienced now on the greatest race track in the world. Plus, "The Captain" needs some good press about now. Will Power would be my next pick to be on the top step - he reminds me of the great Rick Mears of The Mears Gang (I grew up with Rick in Bakersfield ...).

Who is this dork
If EC racing is having a bad race they should sell the team
Legge is a wine joke
She is better than half of the field!
