Charly Tate Thanks sweets. I'm so happy that you are enjoying them. Have a few more coming your way soon. Let me know what you think. Thanks for watching!
It really didn't go as well as I would have liked. I played with the flat iron on Saturday and Sunday and I even tried to take a pic for you. I don't think the pics I took really show you anything, but I will post one here. I struggle with a cowlick in the front bang area, and again in the crown. I really thought that your "side swept pixie tutorial" would be a cute look for me, but it just didn't work out as well as I had hoped. I'm in my early 50s and want to keep a youthful and playfulness about my hair and attitude in general towards life. I just need for you to move-in next door so I have someone to play hair with and teach me how to use my flat iron without killing my hair. Thank you for checking on my progress ... it means the world to me!
Caitlin Madaras Thank you so much for watching. I'm so very happy to hear that you are having fun styling your Pixie. Having so many options is the best part about the style. Thank you for the comment. XOXO
I'm so happy I found your channel. I got a pixie cut 2 weeks ago (it's just shorter on the sides and back) and will be going platinum (in the blonde in between stage atm). This style looks amazing and I can't wait to try it.
Orchidaceae Yay! I can't wait for you to try it. Tag me on social media, #whippycake. I want to see how it works out. Let me know if you have any other styles that you want me to make a tutorial for.
I love this I’ve got very wavy hair and I love it short but I’m older and they’re short hair is a bit too harsh for me now so I would love to get this style. I hope I can manage what you do because yours looks fabulous
Kimberly Preder Awe, thank you so much sweets! I love this pixie of mine and I'm so happy that I can share my favorite styles with you. Thank you for watching.
Jaimie Lee Give it a try, you might be surprised what it looks like on your length. But I have been wearing a longer bang because I found I have a lot more versatility with styling. So glad you stopped by and watched this video. Thanks!
Whippy this is a big hello from Venezuela where you have a huge fan. Your gorgeus hair and tutorial have encouraged me to go even more blonde. My problem is that my hair always ends with an orange tone and I cant get that fav platinum color you have no matter how much I try. Even after bleaching it. In any case I love watching your hairstyle tutorials and this one is gorgeous.
+Matilde Diaz Marin Hello Venezuela. So excited to hear from. Totes a big deal for me. I would suggest going to a professional stylist if possible to get the lift that you are looking for. Bleaching at home can be so tricky. You will most likely need a toner to lift any unwanted brassiness. I would also invest in a purple shampoo to extend the toning in between trips to the salon. I love the purple shampoo by Naissant. They also have a purple conditioner that is perfection. bit.ly/1FOgXn2
you're so beautiful! I'm currently growing my very short pixie out and it's finally just about your length so I'm looking for new ways to style it while it's growing out because otherwise it just looks awkward
Thanks so much I just cut 17 inches my hair. It is so thick and I have be so sick for a year a have had 4 major surgeries I decided to just chop it all off. Your video made it much easier for me to style.
Thank you so much!! Whenvi cut my hair I woren the Same everyday, BC I didn't know what to do with it!! SO THANJ YOU FOR THIS EASY BREEZY TUTORIAL!💚💚💚💚
Denise Stiarwalt It's my favorite pink, Elizabeth Arden's "Pink Vibrations". bit.ly/1zf7dB9 Have you seen my make up look inspired by this lipstick. Pink Vibrations make-up tutorial - th-cam.com/video/bLPVnVwDyac/w-d-xo.html
I would like to see some tutorial videos on how to style short hair (stick straight, grows forward and flat, thick, yet fine textured) for pixie or bobs, AND having a short forehead; low hairline. So...lots of stubborn challenges, not to mention, cowlicks. My bangs have to be little, otherwise they are covering my eyes, unless there is a way to do the longer bang swept to the side style, without it all being dragged down my face. Thanks for any tips!
+Sandra Roecker I had to read your hair description 10 times to wrap my brain around it. Haha Have you checked out my 'Polished Pixie' video: th-cam.com/video/8mqtXSgic6Q/w-d-xo.html I go through my blow drying technique and it's a bang off the face style. As for the cowlicks you have to work with them. So you will want to style the best you can in the direction it throws you hair. I have 2 in the back and they go different directions #thestruggleisreal.
I remember you said not to clamp the flat iron. How hot do you have your flat iron? Your curls look like perfection and while I have the technique my hair doesn't hold the curl like yours. More product? Thanks again for your amazing tutorials I have been having a New Year's Day whippy marathon!!
+Claudine Lo Well, the flat iron I use doesn't have any heat settings. But since my hair is color treated, aka: damaged, I would use a lower setting if I could. If you have thick hair I would recommend a higher heat setting. Product is key when it comes to styling. Not only will it help hold your style, but it will also protect the hair shaft from the high heat. Here is one of my favorites for both heat protection and style hold by Living Proof bit.ly/1JPN8RT. Let me know if that works out for you.
I really want to cut my hair like yours! Thanks for all of the great tips. My hair seems to be a similar texture to yours but I’m worried my facial features are too strong for a pixie. Specifically my High and wide cheekbones. I don’t know why but I feel like that’s holding me back lol. But I do think I look better with my hair up so maybe it’s time to just do it! I’ve been talking about doing it for years.
+Emily Clark I have what I like to call "processed" texture because of my platinum hair. That does certainly help. But my key to texture is the products I use the most. Suave Dry shampoo, Style Sexy Hair 'Play Dirty' spray wax and Style Sexy Hair's 'Powder Play' texturizing powder. Those are the game changers.
Mallory Johnson In my 'Polished Pixie' tutorial I show you the products I use before drying and share all my drying tips. th-cam.com/video/8mqtXSgic6Q/w-d-xo.html Boom! Thanks for watching.
Another great tutorial whippy. Just love it. Could I get your advice on something? I am currently a brunette with a pixie and am thinking of a colour change but am not sure what to go with. Nothing too drastic but maybe something lighter with some highlights or maybe a darker brown with some red in it? What colours would you recommend ? I am fairly pale skinned. Thanks xxxxx
HAYLEY CHANDLER Sometimes just going a shade lighter or a touch warmer can really make all the difference. Maybe try adding a subtle touch of red or warmth to your hair like an auburn or just lighten the ends for a sun kissed look for summer.
I have been really inspired by your videos! I have a pixie and am attempting to grow it out a bit just to mix it up. I have super curly thick hair and have to blow and flat iron it. I don't need volume as much as I need new styles to try and products - do you have a specific recipe for pixies that are closet-fros!?
+Kim Baruffi - Hahaha! I laughed out loud over "closet-fro". Have you ever tried a product called Super Skinny from Paul Mitchell? It's pretty impressive. It will tame your hair, make it dry faster and keep it smooth. Also, pretty much ANY product from Living Proof is amazing for taming big hair! Here is one of my faves thats a 5-in1 product: bit.ly/1IE6bn3
+whippycake OK, thanks so much! Can't wait to try - taming the curls during the grow out is hard until I can go from poof to an actual style. THANK YOU! Love your vids and your recent podcast interview was very inspiring, love your energy and ability to be real : )
What other hairstyles could you do with pixies? I've seen all of your videos and just wondering if there is more new hairstyles you could try with pixie cuts xx
Shaannon James Hmmm, I'm taking suggestions. I have to be honest I have been rocking the same style for the last month or so. If you have inspiration for me I would love to see it.
Super cute cut and style. Just a quick tip... you never want to use a shine spray, serum or any oil based product before heat styling. Perfectly fine after heat styling, otherwise you are coating the hair strands in oil and then adding 350-400 degrees. It fries the hair.
i love this haircut and i would totally get it but im afraid it wouldnt look good on me. Im 16 years old and i dont know if it would fit my face. is there any way i could send you an email with a picture of my face lol so you could say (since your the pixie expert) whether or not i should go for it?
Victoria Garcia-Pech Sure! It's hard to give hair advice without seeing you in person, but I would love to help you feel more comfortable and confident if you decide to cut a pixie. You can email me at admin [at] whippycake.com
whippycake Hi i was wondering the same thing could i also email you. I'm really considering getting a side swept Pixie, but in not sure if it would work with my face. Thanks!
Tunia Flipnotes Sure, send me your photo and give me all the details about your hair type and how you currently style it. You can email me at, admin (@) whippy cake [dot] com.
This is exactly what I've been looking for! I have a question for you Whippy! My hair is cut like this (short on the sides and back but long in the front) buuuut my stylist only cut it so I can have only one part. Is there a way to cut it so I can flip my hair on either side. I love my left side part but some days I'm feeling a right part
Kristine Joanne I only part to one side out of habit but you can def request that your stylist cut a versatile bang. Just make sure she knows that's what you want up front next time. Usually a little bit of texture in the bangs makes it easier to style both ways.
Hello Person from Finland!! Thank you for loving my tutorials! Do you mean how to change the look while still doing this hairstyle, or just in general?
Yo! I now have my shortest long pixie to date and I love it! Thanks for the inspiration. I want to say...Maybe you could suggest SexyHair Spray Clay for girls like me whose hair is prone to be shiny. My hair is thin and un-color-treated so it doesn't respond well to the Spray Wax on 2nd or 3rd day hair which is when I really need the extra lift and texture of the side swept or curled look. The spray wax is just a lil heavy and shiny for me unless it's clean hair. So...just saying, I've fallen in love with spray clay. Didn't know it existed until last week. Just a thought! Thanks again for all of your tips, tricks, love, and inspo! 😘
I love your suggestion! I actually got the spray clay (product junkie!) and I love mixing it with the spray wax but on my hair by itself its too dry so :| But thats a super helpful tip for people with the opposite prob. Thank you! XOXO
+Edith De Lira, I am so happy to you are learning new things on my channel. I know it makes all the difference when you can style your pixie any way you want. Thank you so much for watching and for leaving a comment.
Every time I get my hair trimmed I want it to be short at the nape and long on top, but I end up with a layered, short bob and I can't stand it!! How do I tell my stylist to keep the hair long on top, but short at the nape. It's a long pixie right now, but out of control
Thanks whippy! I'll give it another go. I tried the c-curl a while ago and I dunno what happened but it didn't work. Do you need a pretty good quality flat iron or something?
Alright I shall! Getting my pixiefied again on Thursday and I'm excited so I've been watching your videos for inspiration. Excited but nervous as usual! Thank you for the response. :)
jamie lawson Yes, because it's a longer style. You will need to visit a stylist that has a lot of experience cutting thick pixies as they need a lot of thinning out so that you don't look like you are wearing a helmet.
Shaannon James Yes, I'm working on one. Do you live here in AZ? I might need a model as my hair is so straight and doesn't have a natural texture to work with. Let me know.
whippycake I would love to be your model but sadly I live in United kingdom and I don't own a passport.. I have tried curling my hair with my new short hairstyle. Your tips are great!!
Shaannon James Ah man. Well, I do appreciate the request. I know a few other pixie pals have the same feelings of wanting a non-hot tool style. I will work on it. Thanks again.
Hi, I just started watching your videos and I love them😀, I was wondering if you could help me out, I did have long hair and then I cut it to an angled bob (shoulder length) but I'm getting tired of it, I have been loving pixi cuts for a really long time and I always make an excuse that it may not look good on me, I have a rounder chubby face .. Do you think a pixi cut can look good on me? I need a change and have a hair appt. coming up soon. Any advice will help, thank you & keep up the great work!😀
Kat Quann So sorry for my delayed response. If you are worried about your face looking too round I would try a pixie bob. It’s still edgy and different but the long angular bangs will really help define your face shape and elongate everything. ;)
FoxTrot Gamez I went to a Salon and had a professional stylist do it so we watched closely to make sure I didn't damage it. My hair lifted pretty nicely. I have also started adding a toner that makes it even more platinum over the last few years. If you go to my "Ask Whippy" section on my website I have the formula that my stylist uses if you are going for the same look. Thanks for following along her.
Loved your video and technique but you might consider a different background next time if you still have platinum hair. It was a little hard differentiating you hair from the white wall/blinds. :)
Roxana Hernandez I loved having a shorter pixie, but have been wearing it a lot longer lately. I hope I can still inspire some new style vibes. Thanks for watching!
+KatieHerman I would just tell them that exact thing. I want a pixie not a bob. I want long layers in the bang and crown of my head that blends/transitions into a very short cut at the nape of my neck. I would definitely bring a few pictures with you as well to make sure the stylist know what you have in mind. Best of luck to you.
+Whippycake Have you ever tried using Bio Oil on your ends instead of shine drops? I'm a product junkie, but I'm always looking for a cheaper alternative that works... so I have more $ to spend on more products! Lol.
+Jennipher- Marie Hi, my name is Whip and I am a product junkie too. LOL I haven't tried it in my hair. But I love that you found an oil that you can use in different ways. My current fav oil is Cacay Naturals. I recently did a review on the product, because it has made my skin really happy. th-cam.com/video/kzM1NXsSr64/w-d-xo.html
+Rachel Hixson I love hearing that you are learning from these videos. That is the best feedback ever. Please let me know if you ever have a style, product or pixie question in the future that you want me to answer. I love suggestions from you.
+whippycake I am a new member of the "pixie parade" and I am wanting to adjust my haircut to make it easier to do updo;s instead of just repeating the same style over and over. I am struggling to finda cut that is assymetrical enough for my taste in order to be able to up in a slight faux-hawk and all :) Is there any way that you could give me some ideas of an assymetrical haircut that would be good with my fine texture hair and be able to work hairstyles like a faux-hawk or a "Duff Puff" without looking......well....weird :) haha hope to hear from you soon! Thanks Whippycake
Hey +whippy cake, I am qof yr hugest fans but I needed to let you know that my account got hacked and the hacker went around my subscribed people and trolled them , some more disgusting than others, "Please please" darling , if you see any nasty/negative comment seemingly from myself ...it certainly under any circumstances "wasn't me whom wrote it, I have sorted it and had to change my account details ie password etc..hope if you got any/one you can understand that it wasn't me and I apologise on behalf of the sad negative jealous horrid troll who was responsible all my love and 'L❤VING' all the videos 😊.. Tanya xxx
Loooooooove. Been growing my pixie out for two years and I SWEAR when I watch your videos I want to chop it all off! So SO adorable!
Angela Lyon Haha, that is the worst. So sorry, but most of these styles would be just as cute on a longer length.
Your videos just keep getting better and better, love these hair tutorials! Rock on, girl.
Charly Tate Thanks sweets. I'm so happy that you are enjoying them. Have a few more coming your way soon. Let me know what you think. Thanks for watching!
I cannot wait to give this technique a try this weekend. Hopefully by Monday morning I have a sassy new look!
Jayne Look How did it go? I need an update, STAT! XOXO
I posted 2 pics on your Facebook page for some hopeful feedback, tips, suggestions ... Thanks.
Because of you I learned how to curl my pixie! Love your videos! Keep 'em coming! Xoxo
Angie Burns Yay! So excited for you. The styling possibilities are endless. Lot's more fun coming your way.
Love your tutorials! I had no Idea how to style my pixie before finding your videos, thanks x
I just love your videos. I cut my hair like your pixie and watch your videos to learn how to style it and u make it so easy to learn.
Shush_It_ Welcome! I'm so happy you are here. I will be posting lots of new pixie styles. Stay tuned. Thanks for watching. XOXO
You read my mind! I wanted to do something like this for the weekend, but couldn't find a tutorial I liked. :)
Orchidaceae Yay! I can't wait for you to try it. Tag me on social media, #whippycake. I want to see how it works out. Let me know if you have any other styles that you want me to make a tutorial for.
Will do. :)
This popped up today. I miss her soooo much. 💔💔💔💔💔
I love this I’ve got very wavy hair and I love it short but I’m older and they’re short hair is a bit too harsh for me now so I would love to get this style. I hope I can manage what you do because yours looks fabulous

+Suzanne McColl Thanks so so much! I'm having so much fun sharing my hair with everyone and I'm glad your enjoying it too! Thanks for watching.
Oh dang! This is adorable! I need to grow the top of my pixie out a little before I can rock something this fun!
Jaimie Lee Give it a try, you might be surprised what it looks like on your length. But I have been wearing a longer bang because I found I have a lot more versatility with styling. So glad you stopped by and watched this video. Thanks!
Whippycake, you're like the only person I know who responds to your viewers comments!! Thank you!!! xo

you're so beautiful! I'm currently growing my very short pixie out and it's finally just about your length so I'm looking for new ways to style it while it's growing out because otherwise it just looks awkward
Thank you!! and I totally know what you mean about that awkward stage! I hope this and my other videos will be helpful!
I need your texture of hair, mine is so soft and won't do anything. Any ways to get the "gritty" texture to where it can curl like yours?
Another fantastic video 🌼

I live in Mexico City, we have Shepora and Sally's for example.
+vanelaguereja - Sephora should have something called City Swept from Bumble and Bumble that is awesome!

Not really. It's mostly just about the technique. But you should definitely try this again. After all, practice makes perfect!
Alright I shall! Getting my pixiefied again on Thursday and I'm excited so I've been watching your videos for inspiration. Excited but nervous as usual! Thank you for the response. :)
Hi I was wondering if you thought a cut like yours would work on thick course curly hair?
jamie lawson Yes, because it's a longer style. You will need to visit a stylist that has a lot of experience cutting thick pixies as they need a lot of thinning out so that you don't look like you are wearing a helmet.
LOVE IT!
i have thick wavy hair but i really want to have my hair cut as short as yours, how do you think i should get it done
Could you do this hairstyle without using heat. As I don't like using heat on my hair?x
Thank you!
It’s still edgy and different but the long angular bangs will really help define your face shape and elongate everything. ;)
how do I fix bangs and top layers that are too short? they look kind of goofy rn any tips to get that growing or something?
How long did it take you to get your hair that color?
FoxTrot Gamez I went to a Salon and had a professional stylist do it so we watched closely to make sure I didn't damage it. My hair lifted pretty nicely. I have also started adding a toner that makes it even more platinum over the last few years. If you go to my "Ask Whippy" section on my website I have the formula that my stylist uses if you are going for the same look. Thanks for following along her.
whippycake Thanks so much!!! I've been meaning to get my hair like that at least once in my life lol
love ihis. sooo helpful
Loved your video and technique but you might consider a different background next time if you still have platinum hair. It was a little hard differentiating you hair from the white wall/blinds. :)
rachael mclennan I feel the same way. Will try something darker next time so you can see all the details better. Thanks for the feedback. XOXO
Love it but my hair it to short for that style but it's very cute
Roxana Hernandez I loved having a shorter pixie, but have been wearing it a lot longer lately. I hope I can still inspire some new style vibes. Thanks for watching!
You do Thank your for your videos
Hi. Any options for a different brand wax spray? I don't live in the states. Tks.
+vanelaguereja - Kevin Murphy has a Dry Hair Spray that is pretty cool. I am not sure where you live to find out what products are sold there?
+KatieHerman I would just tell them that exact thing. I want a pixie not a bob. I want long layers in the bang and crown of my head that blends/transitions into a very short cut at the nape of my neck. I would definitely bring a few pictures with you as well to make sure the stylist know what you have in mind. Best of luck to you.
So freakin cute
So sad she died of cancer at a very young age 😢😢😢
Very nice 👍🔔
Looks great but it would be easier to follow if you did the direction part with the straightener in real time
I meant one of your hugest fans ...Sorry 😳xx
Your so pretty, and theres something about your eyes... cant quite put my finger on it..
👏👍😊💛
