yeah i have seen most of the brookside episodes from late 87 and into mid 88 and the crackle exists like that on most of the episodes. whoever recorded them must have had the tv tuned pretty badly shame there isn't better coppies knocking about anywhere. yet the episodes from the early 80's are in excelent quality so hmmm interesting
Brookside through the 80's was fantastic , hard hitting at times and hilarious at others , I wouldn't say bring it back coz it was of it's time but it's great to see some of the highlights again.
There was a 4 minute + long dialogue filled one shot/no edit take in the middle of that! Those were the days when we used to take that kind of stuff for 'grant'ed!
Ricky Tomlinson first got into acting performing live, improvised skits around the pubs in Liverpool with a few other guys, one of whom was his friend and fellow Brookside actor Anthony Scoggins.
Both Paul Usher and Ricky Tomlinson are excellent in this scene. First class acting in what was a brilliant soap. When you look at corrie, Emmerdale and easterners now, there is zero comparison.
@@blobbyblob2573 That's fine but you must be the only one. I don't have a problem with immigrants either way, i was just correcting the original comment :) 😍😘
Haha Barry’s hair in this scene lol. How young is Barry here? Ricky Tomlinson playing Bobby Grant. Sue Johnston playing Sheila Grant. Two acting greats who went on to play husband and wife again in The Royle Family. 👌👌🙌🙌♥️♥️
Great acting by these 2. Seems to have been done in one take. Brookside was classy and groundbreaking, nice memories
Ricky Tomlinson is one of the great English actors. Extremely underrated, but true fans know his worth.
What happened to Bobby grant in the show
He wasn’t really an actor. He played himself.
@@BLTKellys no one could play Jim Royle as well
@@peterwilliamskelhorn6675 yes but he played himself. A great actor is a chameleon who transforms.
@@BLTKellys thats true
I'm back here for the memories from my childhood and i have to say this was fine acting by both actors even back then. I miss Brookside :-(
We see plenty of repeats it would be good to see Brookside back on television.I always thought it was the best soap.
Got your wish it seems
Brilliant acting from two phenomenal actors
Three.
That TV is crackle you can hear in the background is just as classic as the drama. So glad I experienced the 1980s.

No,it hasn't been brought back in the true sense but it is being reshown on STV player.
There was a 4 minute + long dialogue filled one shot/no edit take in the middle of that! Those were the days when we used to take that kind of stuff for 'grant'ed!
See what you did. There
Ricky Tomlinson first got into acting performing live, improvised skits around the pubs in Liverpool with a few other guys, one of whom was his friend and fellow Brookside actor Anthony Scoggins.
Ricky Tomlinson and Paul Usher makes flawless performances watched all it sometimes
Barry Grant the legend
Oh woah it was the last episode of 1987! They always stood and waved and did those credits on the last episode of the year
Both Paul Usher and Ricky Tomlinson are excellent in this scene. First class acting in what was a brilliant soap. When you look at corrie, Emmerdale and easterners now, there is zero comparison.
brookside in the 80's was the most, most realistic of all the soaps, shame it went so badly wrong in the 90's
i dont think it went badly wrong in the 90's at all i think it hit the skids in the early 2000s just seemed to be very lame and unrealistic
spleeeen4it I don t think it went badly wrong at all. They just pulled the plug! 😩
it wasn't realistic in its portrayal of the posh people moving to the Close. It was ridiculous in that sense.
spleeeen4it s
I loved Bobby Grant, and Barry Grant fighting in Brookside. I wished that, Channel 4 brought Brookside back.
Bloody hits you the music the drama, boom ending, what fantastic drama
brookside loved it back in 80s
Think Ricky Tomlinson is an under rated actor
Barry Grant is a class act. Well, Paul Usher.
Barry Grant was the Terry Duckworth of Brookside.
More like Den Watts.
More like Phil Mitchell but a younger version
Great acting this.
Love the ending music to this like a cliff hanger
i wanna see the full episode. shame the youtuber who had tons of episodes up was removed. dam youtube and the copyright police
matt p the drama ! ,hits you that tune
Even though Bobby loved Barry very much he had a more fractured relationship with him compared to Karen , Damon and Claire.
Barry apparently wasn't Bobby's. He was actually Matty's son I think
@@dominewimbury2039 Yep, he was Matty's.
When Brookside was good there was nothing better.
Alright barb 😂🤣
Great acting
True class top soap brilliant actingxxx
Gotta love that prim cow voicing over at the end "broken homes" - our culture is truly a spiritual and moral cesspit.
Why don't we see much of Paul Usher on the telly since The Bill finished , he's a great actor?
He’s doing a lot of theatre including quite surreally, a lot of south Asian stuff.
That was brilliant
Very real . . . . this is what Brookside did well
very good acting well done guys
Fantastic
What's with everybody waving at the camera at the end ? Was this shown as part of a special episode ?
It was the last episode of the year. They did that right up until the last year or two.
That looks like it was done in one take, if it was well done
Arrright! Arright! Arrright lad!
Brilliant drama, there need to bring Brookside Back or some sort of reboot
Drama pure drama , music add to it to.
Barry great actor too.
Did Bobby ever find out his son ended up murdering a mother and her toddler son?
What year was this it was either 1987 or 1988?
New year 1987/88
"Do me feet stink?!"
I think this is the episode before Laura Gordon-Davies' death
Love Paul usher brookside was way before it’s time brilliant tommy mcardle made Phil n grant look like bill n Ben
Des taviner from the bill
Classic
Brook side gave us Harry Enfield scousers, I have to thank it for that lol
AAY AAY CALM DOWN CALM DOWN!
What year was this?
1987, says at the end of credits mate
Put them in the bag

Haha Barry’s hair back then. It makes me laugh. I bet Paul Usher cringes when he looks back on this. The fashions as well. 😂😂
