Sheila's reaction when slob Grant hits her is so sad. She just looks resigned and almost as if the slap doesn't matter and is just to be accepted, just the way things are. Very sad, and a very good piece of acting there by Sue Johnston.
Bobby was a nasty violent bully people like him want a damn good slap by people bigger and tougher than themselves they are control freaks with no respect for themselves
What Bobby should have done was knock and say "There's a good lad you look after my child, while I go and cop off with someone and bring her back, and bang the arse off it, you've done me a favour Billy"
The timeline on this is mental... so they have 1/2 hour til the bus goes... they are going to get chips... ordering fish to be cooked... and Bobby is eating his tea at 11.30?
@@fairlyvague82 I don't think he was until the very end of his time on the show. Ricky Tomlinson was furious that the scriptwriters turned his character from a decent guy into a controlling wife beater and walked out soon after this episode.
@@kevinfowkes2327Wow, I didn’t know that. But tbf, a man smacking his wife in the 80s didn’t cause the outcry like it should’ve done and how it does these days. And as kids me and my brother were belted regularly and nothing was ever said when we went into school covered with bruises.
@@fairlyvague82 Bobby was an evil ratbag and he was unworthy and devious and jealous, I know people like him they are horrid and some like I used to know called Paul was that he was a selfish bully, a manipulative control freak who liked bullying people and telling them what to do in the end I got shot of him he was so dangerous and a very loose cannon like Bobby was
@@fairlyvague82 Bobby was well sick in the head and he was, nasty and a selfish arrogant control freak and he should have been belted for hitting his wife he had no right controlling his wife Sheila he once he left he was not missed the nasty vicious Android and he was not a nice man.
yes ok we were brookie fans. I met barry grant and my dad met Doreen corkhill....nice people! don't remember this one except I remember the slap that bobby gave Sheila.
The music in that nightclub was absolute crap, sheila grants hairdo was hilarious and her pal kathys dress looked like she made it out of a festune curtain.
Sadly when Sheila was raped in 1986 it was the beginning of the end of the Grant marriage. When Damon was murdered in 1987 that was the final nail in the coffin and that's what caused them the split in 1988
Sheila behaved in a disgraceful manner - bobby was rightly vexed at her outrageous provocation and disavowment of her marital obligations - her fornication unleashed Bobby's understandable rage and he struck her......blatant provocation on disrespect of Bobby who unlike Sheila understood the virtues and obligations of marriage. Bobby reigned righteous blows down upon the wicked scarlet whore.....I'm sure her attitude was well and truly adjusted after Bobby took her in hand and reminded her of the truth and her obligations. I'm sure Sheila did not dare cross her husband again....she brought shame upon their relationship and dragged Bobby through the mud but ultimately it was her that was thrashed and humbled...... I expect it was a long time before Sheila disobeyed her loving loyal supportive partner again..... She should have been locked under the stairs for her scandalous abhorrent behaviour
Bobby was a nutter and wat he did to Sheila was nasty and he could have killed her the evil nutcase, and he was a control freak I have known peope like him they are dangerous and no use to anyone not even themselves
My favorite soap when i was a kid
The acting in this Soap as compared to the current Soaps is night and day. Excellent acting back in the day
Yes, Brookside is arguably the best soap ever produced,it also had the advantage of being filmed on location.
It's so good isn't it.
@MichaelHoare-vr7mo I agree

Fantastic era for TV 📺
80s 90s unlike the
Rubbish they try to
Pass off as entertainment
On TV these days 😫
@@David-h4z2s I couldn't agree more. Loving these on STV every Wednesday
The late Steve Halliwell as Stephen!!
6 years before he made his debut as Zak Dingle in Emmerdale!!
This was definitely the comedy episode and wish they made soaps the same these days
I remember this and the bow in the hair well! So funny.
Zak Dingle should have floored Bobby!!😄
Expecting Bobby to say 'my arse' at any minute 😂😂
Every time i watch this episode i laugh more every time😅😅😅😅
Ricky Tomlinson and sue Johnston worked great as a couple also in the Royle family. Two naturals
Bobby's behaviour is ridiculous, seething un the dark!
Like that then and STILL the same with irrationally jealous people of BOTH sexes, even now.
A lovely cameo appearance by Steve Helliwell who would go on to play Zak Dingle in Emmerdale.
HILARIOUS. 😂

@@saschacunliffe7383 I agree mate and Bobby is nasty and Sheila, is not smart staying with a violent volatile man who is a nasty control freak
I loved watching Brookside.
March next year roughly is when this whole episode will be uploaded to STV player
Bobby hitting sheila was well out of order
@@Eltonlaleham agreed KATHY SHOULD HAVE Knocked him out ❤👎❤🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄❤❤❤❤😮😂😂😮
Billy's character was more well rounded, he was Street wise and could be sensible but I guess this was pre girl power
Bobby seriously was screwed up in the head, and he wanted seriously beheading the bully he was evil.
Bobby: “I’LL TAKE THE TWO OF THEM ON!” 😆
Just ordinary stories that people could really relate to. Whatever happened to a realistic Soap?
What Bobby should have done was knock and say "There's a good lad you look after my child, while I go and cop off with someone and bring her back, and bang the arse off it, you've done me a favour Billy"
😂
Bobby charging down the stairs 😂😂😂
At 6:50 Sonia the 80's scouse pop sensation is sitting in front of the two drunken ladies laughing along with the rest of the bus at the banter.
great observation I'm glad you said that i didn't even realise it was her
I thought that but had another look and I don’t think it’s her
@@paulmartin3682 it is her
Never a dull moment on Brookside close
That's right. Also it is good that Brookside is now being reshown on STV player.
Zak Dingle is along way from North Yorkshire😅
He's lieing he is married to
Nelly got kids Butch Sam Ben Tina😩🧔😅

Lol I noticed Sheila's earring too lol
How on earth those drunk men found their way into brookside close was terrible
And zack dingle!!!!
Is that Steve Halliwell? He has a look of Zac Dingle.
Yes its Zach dingle from emmerdale
Zac and his chum decided to walk round to the parade and buy some crisps from the petrol station.
The future Zak Dingle and his mate.

Omg have i got this right - Gordon Collins was taking the sausage ?
Plus she took earrings out in chippy so how was it there for him to knock off
AYE AYE, WHAT’S GOING ON!?
Notice the pre-pop career Sonia (on the bus from 5.48 onwards.)
No she took earring off and put back on in chippy
