Handel, particularly the Messiah, is used to sell everything from cars to potato chips - a bit more obvious and irritating misinterpretation of the music's intent.

@@bigyellowpraxis Christoph Wollf, a Bach scholar, has pointed out that Toccata and Fugue belongs to the repertory of virtuosic show pieces that Bach created to exhibit his own prowess as an organ player.
@@trenchy_BOI that's not what you originally said, is it? Firstly, a tocatta is pretty much by definition about showing off your skill, so that much goes without saying. Beyond that there's no record of what Bach wrote this for (E.g. For playing between masses). If we're talking very technically, it's not known 100% that Bach definitely did write it (though I think the understanding that he most likely did).
It is probable (according to some scholars, and I agree) that it wasn't even originally written for organ, but for violin. On this view, it was only later slightly rearranged for organ by someone else.

Yet whoever wrote this is a master, as a training piece for an organ this is a highly complex melody that if performed correctly to perfection leaves little room for doubt that you would master any play with ease!

That's the splendor of the organ. The entire building is the instrument. That's why it's so overwhelming. I haven't felt it for myself, but just hearing it with my ears is still overwhelming.

Ich durfte dieses Stück mal in der Matini Kirche in Braunschweig erleben. Wir, mein Altgeselle und meine Wenigkeit hatten dort als Maler einen Wasserschaden an der Wand auszubessern. 😮 Also alles auf dass Gerüst was dort innen an der Wand stand und hoch auf 6 Meter Höhe. Da schon die Akustik im Kirchenschiff ❤❤ 😮 und dann diese voluminöse Musik❤❤❤❤😊 ich war so überwältigt dass vor (Glück?) geweint habe.😢 manchmal geht es mir heute noch so.
Wie ich sie beneide. Sie waren Gott ganz nahe.

I'm sure Nobuo Uematsu was heavily inspired by this piece.
I also noticed this similarity. In fact, not only does it sounds similar at that one part, but at many parts it conjures feelings that remind me of the character of Kefka, as I know him from Nobuo's music.

I would only learn how to play the organ so I could play this on a really old one with exaggerated expressions with my hands when people come to my house and if they walk into the room I'm playing it in I would just say "Ahh I've been expecting you"

Bach was probably one of the best organists of his time and also a very good organ expert; if I remember correctly, he was even a master organ builder. And well, knowing what was possible on the organ, he also wrote his organ compositions in such a way that they also suited his personality. Well, as you can already guess, Bach was a wild person. It's stupid, but this always brings me back to the original Castlevania... I grew up the son of a classical pianist and a huge folk aficionado. My mother had the (seemingly) entire K catalog on vinyl and would listen daily. My first intro to musical Mashup was the Hookd on Classics tapes. My music teacher thought I was a child prodigy when she would play a piece of a symphony and I would finish it by humming the rest. My firm grounding in classical AND folk open an incredible world to me. It gave me the ability to appreciate a widely varying range of musical endeavor. From Dr Dre to Daft Punk, Alabama to Iron Maiden, Bob Dylan to Chris Stapleton, Deep Forrest to Jan Garbarek, and the ever mellow Strunz and Farrah... anyone who says that music and fictional literature aren't necessary to human existence are sub human at best...

@@AbbyPhelan-cf7ox It's pretty and atmospheric, but it doesn't belong to that music. That I think is primarily about water, wild water. You get the thunderstorm in the beginning (where I like to imagine Bach saying to the audience, "Sit down and shut up, put your smartphones away and pay attention.") Then comes the rain, and water pouring down, off leaves, dewdrops forming on flowers and trickling down to join the rivulets that then become rivers - then the fantastic joy and freedom of the waterfalls and the spray crashing up. Well, that's what I think. Pretty video, but it's the wrong one.
