This works. I am new to cold calling the past few weeks before I saw this video and this is the method I ended up with on my own. Wish I would saw this video first though lol. Confusing the gatekeepers is the absolute best way to get through cuz they have no idea what to do so they just end up going to their boss. I've even talked to owners but they didn't say they were owners and through confusion, they got frustrated and just out and told me they were owner and asked what is it about, hilarious. Shock and awe baby!!
Manta.com is a great resource. A lot of times it lists the business owners names with the number so you already have the name to drop when you call or drop in
That's pretty good actually. Creates a sense of previus contact. I've just started a B2b role so I'm all over this stuff at the moment lol. I like this one!
Awesome video! What I come across a lot is the gatekeeper asking what is this regarding? Then when you drop payment solutions, its back to "Okay well I can tell you were okay when it comes to our processing needs." Any advice? Thanks!
+Jordan Black if this is the gatekeeper I would say, “Great, I am so glad to hear that, what did you say the name of the owner is?” “Bill”, “Great, is he in?” I will not get in an argument with the gatekeeper, it is a no win situation. Thanks!
There's a hundred ways of approach depending on situation and person. How many of your calls end this way? Try not to be so excited on the phone. If you don't already know who it is go find out first if your able... then you're calling for "Dan" or 'Bill" --- I can hold.... no I can hold thank you... or your trying to schedule a call or whatever. Don't neglect to understand that the GK some times is a powerful influencer or even a partner or owner - SOME TIMES the Customer Service is the Owner/President - research the Biz you are targeting... NEVER JUST ASSUME & never down play GK as what role they play in course of biz - it's an important role - they are not your enemy, many are professionals.
This is GREAT old school ways to do it however, gatekeepers have naturally become "owners" of the phone. They are so used to throwing you into the trash can vm by default not knowing if you are a customer, a business partner or even the freakin electrician. They just "BOOM HIT THE BUTTON.. trash". So what you want to include with all of this is to say "Yes is Rick in today? .... ok cool may I SPEAK to him not his voicemail" ... That throws a syntax error into their programmed brain and they will the majority of the time place you on hold, CHECK for them and come back if they are not there THEN you can make that choice to be throw into the vm dump.
Actually this technique is so cute!!! I do feel that awkward on other end, and they could not do anything about it!!!! I will try it when I call next time. Thank you.
@@CCSalesPro Just checked your webinar price, cannot believe the price is so low. I do believe that your content worth more value than that. I would suggest that raise the quality of the video itself, and get more attention from your audience. and raise the monthly fees.
The webinar is free and will introduce a paid, 6 week training / coaching program. We also have a quote tool that is subscription based for $29 per month at instantquotetool.com thanks
Help me out if I get "He's not in right now but I can tell you we just got a new processor so he won't be interested" Is "great i'm so glad to hear that" when will he be in? a valid response?
Yea that’s valid, I would actually say, “Thanks so much for that information, it sounds like I should definitely talk to him soon to make sure he has our bid, would Thursday morning and Friday afternoon be a better time?”
i have a problem here, and i dont know where to turn...i am speaking to Quant developers in investment banks....i have the names of the people i need to speak to , and i have office reception number...but reception wont transfer ...their rules are, if the person you need to speak to wants to speak to you, then he will give you his direct line, or you can leave a message with reception.... The problem is , the person does not know me, has never heard of me, and i just want his jobs for recruitment...so i cant get through..any ideas ? i have tried to connect via linkedin, no joy...but i have to get in there.. Its a new business, so i have no track record, and they don't take me seriously. Please help me get in.
Sounds like you will need to do some serious networking. This is not a B2B sales at its core this sounds like an enterprise sale, very different. It will come down to who you know and referrals. You will be doing a lot of trade shows, meet ups, etc if you want to get this going
Basically you have to avoid answering this... it is tough to type this actually, but it goes like this... “What is this regarding?” Response: “I’m sorry, Yea this James, is he in?” Basically you have to get yourself in the mindset of the decision makers lifelong friend, how would they respond?
You could probably avoid it by repeating why you're calling so if they ask what's this regarding? you repeat " I'm a local business owner I just wanted to stop by, network hand out my business card"
I’m very very upset that I cannot close deals by doing door to door sales... Only once a client took $100K on my first day lol since than nothing , I don’t have the guts anymore to approach to small business owners I totally lost it 😭
Hey man come-on, it happens. In sales it just a numbers game. You just need to stay positive and hold on to what you are doing. You will see light when the tunnel ends. Good luck!
While I appreciate the technique..this is wasting ALOT of time TRYING to talk to someone that you more than likely will NEVER get to talk to. I think a better method is just keep dialing til you get the owners who actually answer the phone or the people that answer don't put up the fight and actually send you through...engaging with a gatekeeper can be a huge waste of time.
I got as far as "tell the gatekeeper you're a local business owner", then stopped. DO NOT lie. Salespeople have a bad enough name as it is. I can't believe you'd actually make a video suggesting making the first contact with a business a lie. I bet you're great at sales, but I wouldn't trust you with anything.

@Elijahollison Thank you for that info for you to
Great resource by the way, thanks.
So what if your calling companies outside of your area? What line should you open up with then?
I'm a stockbroker. An even easier way is to ask for the person by their first name.
Is Kevin still there?
Works for me.
Totally agree, first you have to have their first name but once you do, absolutely!

💯👍😁 Great!
What if the owner is rarely in? And the person on the phone says that. What else can I say other than I’ll hold thank you?
Nothing. You just have to call back and try to catch them another time unfortunately.
but wait...what if you don't have business cards? im brand new to my SMMA business, do you got any recommendations? sounds like a good method tho
Go to staples.com business cards are $10

Or what's an appropriate response to "what's this regarding?"
Basically you have to avoid answering this... it is tough to type this actually, but it goes like this... “What is this regarding?” Response: “I’m sorry, Yea this James, is he in?” Basically you have to get yourself in the mindset of the decision makers lifelong friend, how would they respond?

I've done this where you act like the DM is a friend and it'll really piss off some gatekeepers and work against you.
master cobra can always say it’s a little complex for leaving a message is he available now?
Some tips would not work in the UK, gatekeepers would 100% see the short statement and silence as rude
Good point. I never sold in the UK, no idea if my methods would work. Always adjust to your reality for sure.
Go ahead and try it then 😂
It's rude here too. He is a lying, high pressure sales creep that the industry needs to push out.

Sales is tough. You can figure it out, but I will take a while!
Look up zig ziglar and see his approaches.
It definitely doesn’t work in my industry

This strategy doesn’t work well for companies with operations outside of an office.

Where's the lie? Many of these positions are 1099 which means they are their own business.
great video.
