I personally like the unlimited verse in this sing. It is in all the songs where she changes in some way. Like the wizard and i, where she begins to believe she is worth some thing and that she can make a difference, and its In defying gravity, the turning point of the show where she decides to fight against the wizard regardless of what effects it has on her, and in for good where she just gives up and goes back to thinking she's nothing. I reckon no good deed would be 10x more effective with the added verse, its basically her saying "there's nothing I can do to stop me from hurting everybody and ruining everything" it just shows her lack of belief in herself and makes the song (IMO) ten times more emotional..:)
She may not be the most riff-tastic elphaba but surely she must be one of the most powerful! Her belts are so loud and filling even today they have the same effect
I am having a debate with myself about the added verse, but I have been replaying her "destructiveness" on repeat. Amazing, and one of the healthiest performances I've heard from her.
The landing of ‘destructiveness’ in this performance is utterly sensational. The other recordings out there have a couple of extra riffs but Idina’s vibrato on ‘ness’ is so incredible and powerful. I once asked SS about the dropping of the ‘Unlimited’ motif from this song, and while I agree it may have been a bit of overkill this version of NGD is such a wonderful listen! Perhaps we may hear it again in the film version!
I'm glad I haven't been the only one saying it, with how they've added slight changes to each song it only feels right for them to add the extended lyrics!
I really like the whole "unlimited" verse. I see why they cut it because it slows the song down, but I think that had they worked on it more it could have been this very chilling part of the song. Also Idina's voice sounds abosolutely fantasitc here.
I know this was just in SF with the "Unlimited" verse, but I seem to remember seeing the show the Thanksgiving after it opened in NYC (way back in 2003!) and I thought that Idina sang that part then. Cause when I heard the part on TH-cam (after the soundtrack came out), I felt like I had heard Idina sing it before. Maybe because she sings "Unlimited" throughout the whole show, but there just was something familiar about that bridge. I also remember having the feeling when I heard the soundtrack that they had cut something from this song that I had heard in the theatre. But I guess I'm mis-remembering. Either way, Idina, Kristen and the OBC were frickin' phenomenal!
I was in san francisco last week and saw wicked. I would recomend anyone to go and see it. Teal wicks did a very fine performance and her voice was great. I would see it again if I could.
i really wanna work out the cut verse on pianooooo =]it's just the unlimited theme in a minor key, then the same melody as madame morrible's bit at the beginning of the wizard and i isnt it?
The instrumentals in the middle cut part are way more creepy than any of the songs or transition pieces in the entire musical! Especially after “you could call it limitless” with the minor key change. The chorus is nowhere near as scary. I feel like this edition is very scary and haunting and the official edition is more “evil” and proudly bombastic. Perhaps it was too scary and unsure for the character that was supposed to be more decidedly defiant against good at this point in the musical.
With how much darker the film will undoubtedly be compared to the stage show, I think it's a missed opportunity of they DON'T include the cut bit. It really shows the anguish and torment of Elphaba's struggle with her own morality.
Idk man, maybe they just moved on of this idea. They've included the unlimited part in DG, so they probably won't include it in NGD. But who knows? In a year we'll discover and we can talk about it😂
@braziliansimon2737 logically, as a motif it would make more sense if they included it in defying gravity TO included in No Good deed , for continuity of the returning theme
even though it doesn't fit at all with this song, I do like the idea of unlimited being in the song. Elphaba views it as a motivation for herself because you first here it in the wizard and I, then defying gravity and eventually in for good where she is at the end of her rope and uses limited instead of unlimited but its a shame it doesn't fit well into this song because I think its a cool concept to keep for her throughout the show
unlimited, the damage is, unlimited to everyone i have tried to help or tried to love and lucky Fiyero, you're the latest victim of my greatest achievement in a long career of distress every time i could i tried making good and what i made was a mess destructiveness yes, you can call it limitless…
i like it too. but i heard at the time of the previews in sf the show was like 3 hours long. they had to make it a bit shorter. but doesn't she sound great here???? i wish she sounded this fresh and rested in all the other recordings i've seen/heard.
Unlimited, The damage is, Unlimited To everyone I've tried to help or love, And lucky Fiyero, you're the latest victim of my long long list of harm my fray of distress When I tried making good, all I made was a mess Destructiveness Alright, YES! You can call it limitless)
Musical Travel 415 I think it was because having the word "unlimited" mentioned in the show four times was too much, and also because it possibly slowed the song down too much.
@@musicatheatrefan I dunno. I think it's cool to have a recurring motif like that, and the brief reprise of Wizard and I's opening really helps to bookend her character arc.
I just hear that added verse and think of all the riffs elphabas across the world would add

Idk, it's just weird listen to her singing unlimited in every song she is in. I like the fact she abandons this quote here
I can't decide if I like the "unlimited" section or not…it makes it more dark and creepy and I kind of love it.
Joey possibly lack of proper singing tactics
@@UmmOopsy wdym she sounds great here

Anyone else think the extended lyrics could fit perfectly in part two of the film adaptation?
Really hoping for that
YEEEES!!!
I'm glad I haven't been the only one saying it, with how they've added slight changes to each song it only feels right for them to add the extended lyrics!

I couldn't have said it better myself. Personally, my favorite as well is Idina. I just love the power and emotion behind her voice.

Well maybe she sang it? Idk, maybe they cutted this after

They really should have kept the unlimited part. I think it helps make a good switch to the no good deed goes unpunished part.

In the workshop version the “my greatest achievement” bit was a stanza tuned to “Making Good”:
My long long list of harm,
MY PARADE OF DISTRESS!…

Wonder if they'd put the cut part back in for part 2 of the movie....they've added stuff in for Defying Gravity and Popular....so why not?

I love these orchestrations
I
I agree w/ the general consensus. I love the concept of the unlimited verse, but it gives the song a very strange pace and just isn't necessary.
Yeah, it slows it down a lot. I get the vision but definitely don't think it belongs in the song; this song is a lot more cohesive without it.

while i do love the unlimited part i'm glad it got cut because it didn't fit that her voice went softer after "supply?"
yeah i remember :P She was the first elphaba i ever saw :D

Why Did They Cut Out The Unlimited part ?

i iwsh they kept this added verse!!!
Honestly I dont like the 'unlimited' part it slows down the song to much
does anyone know if an instrumental of the added verse exists?
Maaan...not an official, for sure. But maybe some fan did it
But anyways she sounds amazing here
who is going to be in it?
for San Francisco?
What's the date of this?
This was in 06/27/03
The unlimited part in No Good Deed should have been kept in...
and Kendra Kassebaum as G(a)linda
I don't like the added verse, it just doesn't suit the song, this song is powerful and dark live, with the verse it makes the song feel too soft :/
Glad "unlimited" was removed. It doesn't fit.
No, it's Idina from her run in London.
