    Thank you sir, this video saves me, i have same laptop from customer having flickering issue , i'd change the display cable and also check another screen but same result, and suddenly display got dim and customer argue me to give me his laptop as the same condition he brought to me, i was in trouble and ask customer for some time, this video save me , i bypass the resistor which act as a fuse as you mention, then it works smoothly, thanks again sir, hats off

    Oh my goodness, thank you SO much. It's been around 4 years since I accidentally dropped my ASUS Tuf gaming laptop and the screen suddenly went black. I had tried every trick in the book but ultimately to no avail. I had converted my laptop to a desktop with a cheap monitor displaying the screen and using a mouse and keyboard. But the screen on my laptop was so much better in comparison and I missed the crisp display...
    And then... today I tried searching for a solution for the final time. (I really don't know how I hadn't found this fix before.) And there you have it - a simple fix for the cost of 0.00EUR, 5min of my time and a feeling of great satisfaction seeing my screen light up again. I guess the the crap monitor will serve as a second monitor now, slightly improving my setup, or I might just bash it into pieces.
    Thank you.

    As a technician i always get wary of when a customer wants something diagnosised and fixed but fails to tell me that others had attempted the repair prior to me. Someone had that screen removed before because those screen bezels don't just crack from normal use. It was removed and someone was poking around in there prior to Sorin for sure.

      I think there’s a spot on the right hand side of the frame about 3 quarters the way up that a spudger fits nicely into. Just pulling them off is asking for trouble.

      @@tomrous That may be true but KIDS can't play with screen bezels. They have self-adhesion and only get damaged when removed.

      @@klwthe3rd Well, my laptop has an gap (non sticking glue) at the top under the webcam after 4 years of use. Second, they can use pieces of paper etc to stick it under the bezel. And then they can try to remove it and break it (its not that hard).

    This reminds me of a client i had many years ago. They had a store room where they kept all the computers that had issues. Every year they'd clean the room or and let the employees take them home They had me look at them and almost ALL of them had things like screen cakes or says cakes disconnected, bios batteries removed or other various intentionally caused problems. It turns out that a few of the employees figured it that they could "break" their computer, wait until the end of the year and then get to take it home for free and they'd then just go and undo what they did Many of them were sooooooo angry when i came in and was able to "fix" them all up. The company was spending over $200k or year on replacements for stuff that was never even broken. A few people lost their jobs over that one.

    @radio-ged4626 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Yes I've criticised you about fuses in the past, but if I hadn't would I have learned why you don't think it's as important as I thought it was? I still think correctly rated fuses are vital in equipment that is directly connected to mains voltage or has a potential for high current or fire risk. But in some cases the fuse is not about safety, but just a design choice made that may not be as vital as we may think. Experience has taught you when a fuse is not a vital component so I accept your decisions. I have always respected you as a top repair guy :)

    Hi Sorin ! I often have to deal with glued screen. My solution: I do remove the Hinges and most of the time you can get a view on little tabs to pull the sticky tape.
    Sometime they start a bit under the screen. When they are too hard to reach i do what i do when i have to replace a phone battery. Hot pad around 70/75Celcius (depend if cover is made of plastic or Aluminum) for about 6 to 8min, then i try to pull a bit on the screen corner (top corner) and with a pointy tweezers i go fishing for the sticky tape :) !
    Last resort i do put some Isopropyl alcohol on a plastic card (i like to use the soft one they put with new Ipad battery) and slide it gently from the side to help me remove the Stickyband.
    **Carefull with isopropyl, you can easily ruin the LCD if it goes between the diffusing sheets, that's why i'm dipping the card and not pourring behind the LCD**
    Have a nice day !

    I could fix the same problem by unplugging the vga cable, starting and plugging it back, the backlight started. The problem was caused by some non-English mo3 songs, and their instrumental versions. It’s ideal to listen English songs, and their instrumentals. Songs also defect the Asus batteries, causing X, and immediate drain. Even, if the Windows is legal and activated, the DVD is legal, the code is for the DVD.
