I think my favorite queer thing in this whole movie, is the fact that Dick goes the entire movie until the end thinking that Batman and Bruce Wayne are a couple and that he has two dads.

She hulk actually put a direct joke about this, labeling her underwear as 'protected by the comics code authority'.

While the hypermasculine aspects of Batman are absolutely present and often a problem, I find that a lot of the most compelling Batman stories are ones that accurately explore how Batman is harmed by his over-reliance on that masculinity.
The violence, the lack of emotion, the need to do everything himself, these are inherently tragic character flaws when written well. The very best Batman stories are ones where we see Batman actively struggle with these, much to the worry of his father-figure, Alfred.

There was one episode of Batman The Animated Series where Batman and Robin stumbled on an alias that refers to the man who killed Robin's parents (that Robin didn't know about)
Instead of expressing himself, Batman refused to let Robin in on what what going on, shutting down any questions and insisted on dealing with this by himself
He wound up with an injured leg and might have died if it wasn't for Robin's stubbornness.

i actually watched that series not too long ago, and to an extent i agree but that episode didn't really address the problems in any meaningful way. It felt more like a character reveal than showing his problems 'aww batman does care for robin'

Always thought Batman works even better when he's gay, especially since animated Batman's long-running VA was gay, and spoke often on how he related so much to the Caped Crusader's double life while growing up.
The idea of Bruce actively PRETENDING to be a playboy while being quietly miserable is something some stories toy with, and that only gets all the more compelling if he's also in the closet.

This entire movie was one of my favorite movies as a kid, and it still is. They managed to add representation secretly, so secretly that my homophobic parents didn’t really notice- allowing me to watch it a couple hundred times. Also shoutout to Lego batwomen, for being one of my first crushes

I've never realized it until now, but despite the light tone of the movie, it does acknowledge Batman's trauma over losing his parents. We all know it's a core part of his backstory, but to my knowledge, it's never really been looked into quite like this
Batman is afraid of having a new family because he doesn't want to lose them like he did his parents. It weighs heavily on him, and he doesn't want to go through that pain again, especially if he thinks he can prevent it
I feel like Harley, who in other continuities is in a queer, open relationship with Poison Ivy, helping Joker with his and Batman's relationship problems is kind of neat. They're also technically open, since Batman has a literal rogues gallery that Joker lists off very early on in the movie, although I guess normal reoccurring enemies are more platonic than an arch nemesis in this context, but Batman does implicitly state that it's still on a similar, less intense level to arch nemesisness. And funnily enough, Ivy is trying to help Harley get away from a toxic relationship with Joker, but here Harley is helping Joker with his toxic relationship with Batman.

@nokzep8118 and the joke comes from the fact they behave like a shitty couple, it's really obvious that "I hate you" is a funny way to convey the same feeling as "I love you", they even hold hands, it's a play on the fact that the Joker is utterly obsessed with Batman, and they use this idea of them behaving more or less like a couple to make this dynamic funnier and more approachable, they are not a couple on the literal sense, but behave almost like one

the LEGO batman is literally the only batman movie to tackle Bruce's genuine fear and insecurities of commitment and having a family again. all the current movies are made for white cishet men who want to identify with the stone-cold, emotionless, hot vigilante who has Trauma, but doesn't show it, and who is only allowed to feel either anger or horniness. i also think that it's literally the only recent movie that even has Robin?? because if you add Robin to the mix, you WILL have to at least somehow address Bruce's feelings, and that's a big no-no, so all batman movies are basically solo + whatever chicks the writers throw at him
I feel no straight person could sincerely imagine that it's possible to convert someone to being gay. It just feels like you'd have to be in a distinctly Fitzgeraldian situation (you know where he basically said all dudes wanna sleep with other dudes and you just have to not do it) in order to convince yourself that reading a story about two men living together will cause you to fantasize about doing the same. This is the first video I’ve ever seen from you and, oh my goodness, this is one of the best analysis videos I’ve ever seen. At first I was expecting a causal, semi professional video talking about a semi popular subject, something I’d say Is fairly common on TH-cam. With your voice i expected that much. But I wasn’t expecting the twist in tone with the segue at 4:28 . At that point, and after you read the seduction of the innocent paragraph, I simply had to finish the video. You piped my interest so quickly that I almost rushed to make this comment. Oh god this. Tried to explain the plot of a story I'm writing, needed a non-clunky adjective umbrella term for the LGBT+ community, used the term qu33r. Whole huge long paragraphs of explanation got deleted.

3) This was in the qu33rest, most leftist comment section imaginable
Also, tried to say I was gay in a livestream chat and that got deleted too. Just the word "gay" was apparently cause for deletion lmao. And it wasn't the person livestreaming who did it, because when I finally got around the filters and explained what had happened, they reacted with surprised irritation @ youtube.

I think my favorite Joker-Harley dynamic was this one fan work I read where Joker and Harley were both bisexual disasters who started out with a romantic fling but quickly became besties instead. Then the two of them commiserate over their love lives while also being literal partners-in-crime and running their own gang together. It was really cool because it framed them as equals and there was no abuse from either of them. Also, in the story, Ivy was their weed dealer and that eventually led to her and Harley dating, and then the two of them helped Joker get Batman's attention. It was really fun!

I kind of liked the fact Batman gained every kind of relationship EXCEPT romantic ones.
It tied back to a book I read where the tenor of a nemesis based relationship (like Batman has with joker) being compared to a romantic one.
The similarities were hilarious. You do kind of go out of dates with your nemesis. You often exchange a lot of banter. Ie, conversations and a form of a bond takes place.
It was just that when the nemesis broke up in the book it was a case of "Victor, I think we should try to kill other people." And trying to roast Victor alive one last time before going off to nemesis other people.
Considering I rather like the asexual interpretation of batman I shall continue to roll with it.

What makes the "You had me at shut up" thing so great is that earlier they SHOW the exact movie scene they're referencing, so everyone can understand the romantic implications of that dialogue.
AND that they show that romantic comedies are Batman's guilty pleasure, and Joker knows this, therefore he knows that Batman will get what he's saying here :)

The second I saw Lego batman, I immediately knew that it captured the relationships of batman best, not only with joker but also with robin. It immediately became my favorite batman movie and this video makes me want to rewatch it now.
