Here is how I used this not very expensive device to control my Smart Home and Home Assistant by using my voice with a Waking Word entirely locally!

@KPeyanski I appreciate the detailed video you put together (as always). I have my HA installed on a Dell Optiplex 7050 and the M5 Stack Atom Echo is currently on order. I'll try to post how much time it takes to run locally while connecting the M5 to my main rig and communicating with the 7050.
I don't know if I've said in the past, but you may be the best one out there with making straight-forward and easy to following/implement HA tutorials.
👍👍
Hey there! 🌟 Thanks a bunch for your awesome comment! I'm thrilled to hear you enjoyed the video and found it easy to follow. Your support means a lot!
Sounds like you've got an exciting setup in the works with the Dell Optiplex 7050 and the M5 Stack Atom Echo on the way. I'm genuinely looking forward to hearing how it all pans out, especially the local run time. Your experience could be super helpful for others diving into a similar setup.
And about your super sweet comment on being the best at straightforward HA tutorials, seriously, you've just made my day! 🥰 Your encouragement keeps me motivated. Thanks a ton for being part of this awesome community! Keep rocking that HA setup! 💡
This is wonderful. Congratulations and Thank you
Thank you too! Check my other videos as well :)
This is what I've been waiting for! Thanks for this video. I'm going to try (if I can source an Atom) and see if I can beat the 45 seconds local response time on my thin client PC, which has HA running in one of many (20) docker containers. More powerful than a RPi, but I also have it doing more.
Glad I could help! Let us know the result of the thin client PC :)
nice :) this is future
Yes, indeed :) Are you going to try it?
@@KPeyanski hope so in next few months :) free time is needet and good prices
yes, the free time is always short, but what do you mean by prices? What kind of device are you looking/waiting for?
@@KPeyanski
cheap seasy low power :) this m5 is on my list but not for 20$ :) 10 will be ok
Hello, is it possible to use the mic of the tablet instead of the esp32?
Hi, did you find aby solution for this?
so if its a little slow on a rpi4 what about an old laptop? i have plenty lol that I keep saying I will find a use for.....
it will fly as long as the laptop is not 20yrs old :)
How much waiting time can I (approx.) expect on my Fujitsu Esprimo Q556/2 with Intel Pentium G4560T processor? From how many meters distance is the voice control working with the M5Stack Atom Echo?
I guess you have to try and let us know :)
@@KPeyanski True, but maybe you can say something about the maximum distance that the microphone on the M5Stack Atom Echo is working correctly? You have that device operational. Thanks.
How about the response time if we use nabu casa instead?
super fast :)
Nice news, atom is unavailable everwhere.
I read it is possible to use esp32 with mic and speaker with esphome.
I'm looking for a schematic to interface i2s microphone and speaker.
If you like idea could you make video to do that
Thank
I can buy it but I have the Muse Luxe and can't get it to work. The Luxe has already speakers so it's a better solution.
Yes, that will become a good video and I was thinking exactly the same :) So, you can expect such video from me but I can't promise it at 100% yet.
I have the Muse Luxe and I managed to make the same installation but the "Assist in progress" never turns to ON. Btw, is there a way to test the microphone on the Luxe? Anyone knows?
Did you enable the use wake word switch?
@@KPeyanskiyes but on case of luxe there are many questions. Do I need to press a button before? I see many discussions about this support and I see long ESPHome yaml files. It's a bit confusing
@@KPeyanski I think there needs to be some changes to the ESPHome config of a Muse Luxe to allow the wake word toggle/feature. This sort of tinkering is skipped with the M5 Echo because the web installer handles the ESPHome config for it.
I've seen some Atom Echo on ebay.
Hope they will stock them soon in the Amazon as well
sad there is no HACS version
Why do you need hacs version?
Cool concept, but 45s makes it useless. lets wait for rpi5 and see how long it takes
Yes, 45sec is too much but at least it works. Also if you run this on a decent AMD or Intel computer it will fly!
What would ben the time on An odroid n2+
If I still must press a button, this is useless...
Watch the video please. You don't have to press anything ;)

Oh, that's awesome to hear! 🎉 I'm so glad this video hit the mark for you! It sounds like you've got quite the setup going on with your thin client PC running HA in a whole fleet of docker containers. That's some serious tech wizardry!
