Hi Chris, I am a drum teacher in Harrow London suburb. Found your video very helpful. So easy to watch. Loved you soft effortless playing. Let's get the music going again soon! Keep well.

Hi, does anyone here know what the "Bright Show 2" written on bar 3 mean? It is written again in a Grade 8 overture piece as well but over a different bar.

Hi Pratik. It refers to the tempo and feel of the piece. Bright=fast, Show 2=Musical Theatre/Broadway two-in-bar feel, ie cut common time where you count 2 beats/pulses per bar

I may be wrong but in bars 4 and 5 when it’s the snare and hi hat, which are notated as quarter notes it seems they are being played as 8th notes when played to a 156 click = crotchet. When I see people play this song it seems they are doing this aswell. Do you know why it is being played like this, I have the trinity grade 6-8 book aswell. Maybe I’m just stupid

Hi Manny. At bar 3 the time sig changes to cut common (2/2), therefore the crotchet pulse doubles in tempo ie it’s now 312 which is why you’re hearing those crotchets as quavers. The click at the point is now minim=156

I'd be interested to know what kind of cymbals you used in the video. I really like the sound of them. I really like your playing also, and I will be playing this in Feb 2021 for a community theatre production.

Joseph Tuerk Hi thanks for your comment. The LH crash is an old Zildjian A 16” fast crash and the RH one is a new 17” standard A fast crash. Ride is a vintage (30+ yrs old) Zildjian 20” K custom. Hats are again, old new beats 14”. Have fun with the track!

Chris Burgess thank you so much for your reply. It was a pleasant surprise to hear from you this morning. I have an old silver sparkle Ludwig set 1966 and some vintage Zildjian cymbals too. Now I just have to keep working to make them sound as good as you make yours sound!
