Emilios (Emil) Riadis (1880 -- 1935) was a greek poet and composer of the Greek National School. He studied in Munich and Paris with Maurice Ravel (whom he called him "my genius student") and wrote mostly songs, piano and symphonic pieces. He was also the first greek impressionist composer.
Specifically, Riadis gained fame and was mainly known for his Songs (lieder). They had the perfection of Schubert's lieder combined with Greek folk idioms and oriental melodies (also Kalomoiris himself had stated that he was jealous of them). The subjects of his songs were related to the Greek folk tradition.
This collection of songs is 5 Dance Songs for soprano, mezzo soprano, clarinet, violin, viola, cello, piano and tambourine (undated).

Ο Αιμίλιος Ριάδης (1880 -- 1935) ήταν ένας Έλληνας ποιητής και συνθέτης (από τους πρώτους) της Εθνικής Σχολής. Σπούδασε στο Μόναχο και στο Παρίσι με τον Μωρίς Ραβέλ (που τον αποκαλούσε «ο μεγαλοφυής μαθητής μου») και έγραψε κυρίως τραγούδια, κομμάτια συμφωνικά και για πιάνο. Ήταν επίσης ο πρώτος Έλληνας ιμπρεσιονιστής συνθέτης.
Συγκεκριμένα, ο Ριάδης απέκτησε φήμη και έμεινε κυρίως γνωστός για τα Τραγούδια του (lieder). Έφερε την χάρη των λήντερ του Σούμπερτ συνδυασμένα με ελληνικά δημοτικά ιδιώματα και ανατολίτικες μελωδίες (που και ίδιος ο Καλομοίρης είχε δηλώσει πως ζήλευε). Η θεματολογία των τραγουδιών του ήταν και εκείνη σχετική με την ελληνική δημοτική παράδοση.
Αυτή η συλλογή τραγουδιών του είναι τα 5 Χορευτικά Τραγούδια για σοπράνο, μέτζο σοπράνο, κλαρίνο, βιολί, βιόλα, βιολοντσέλο, πιάνο και ντέφι (αχρονολόγητα).

I think he is absolutely brilliant. I understand he died young at 50 years of age. Do you know what happened to him?
@@johnm2197 he was sick for a long time and died at the age 55ish, there where letters of correspondance between the family at that time that his way of life was the cause.. Well, he was gay and kind of a rockstar, so the syfilis was probably what got him.
