Today I try to repair my ageing Acer S71H 27" monitor. But it seems there is more damage than I first thought.

I replaced that same cap but it did not fix the issue. The cap looked good though. I replaced a couple other caps and that fixed it. Keep replacing electrolytic caps until it works again.

Thanks for the tip. That's exactly what i did. I replaced all the capacitors on both boards although only the one large one Was bulging. then the monitor worked again.

(Translation from Italian to English with Google Translate)- Externally my monitor is identical to the one in the video. The small card is identical. The large board, on the other hand, is identical in size, but contains more components. Anyway, I replaced half of the electrolytic capacitors and the monitor worked for about 5 minutes, then black screen, with the LED light on the power button going on and off continuously. The problem seemed to be solved, but perhaps something overheats and causes the electronics to fail.

You should have replaced the other capacitors from the smaller board, the power issue mainly comes from that part, not from the longer capacitor (it fixed mine, twice, once in 2016 and now again in 2022).
Also, during all these years, I had to replace to power supply brick, it died and I thought that it was the monitor (19V 3.42A), give it a try before dismantling the monitor.
Good luck to you guys if you try fixing it again 😀

I'm repairing a similar model with the exact same capacitor blown. Unlike yours, mine is getting power, but the power button led just blinks orange. The capacitor hasn't leaked all over the place like yours either, nor is the board brown, so hopefully mine will work when the replacement arrives.
I figured out how to do the wide ribbon correctly, in case anyone is struggling with that. Flip the brown part up first, then pull the ribbon up and away from the monitor rather than along it.

Update on this. I replaced the capacitor but it still kept making the clicking noise when powered up, so I've left it for the time being as it's something above my abilities to fix right now.

I still have this exact monitor. no issues with it yet, but this video will be remembered if it ever does die. Thanks

Hi. Yes I found it a great monitor. If you know a good electronics repair shop it may be worth you having that capacitor replaced before it goes and takes out other components as mine has. Or if you are competent then go ahead and do it yourself (at your own risk of course). thanks for the comment.

Sorry your repair didn't work out but thanks for your guidance on getting the thing apart. I have a similar problem. None of the electrolytics look bad but there are four on the smaller board which i am going tio replace, I suspect that might be the power board.

it says on the backside of mine, V275HL abid. My problem is the monitor doesnt start. The powerbutton switches color from orange to blue every second. I have a new monitor, but id like to have a second monitor so I tried to look up a solution.

I changed out all my capacitors but my monitor still doesn’t come on and the power button just blinks on and off every like 0.5 second. I also got a new power supply plug but still nothing.

I have the same monitor I picked it up off a friend as he was throwing it away, I bought a new power pack for it but I am still not getting a light on the standby button, I checked the capacitors inside and none of them was bulging so they look fine.

I have a Acer 27' I bought 2yrs ago and now nothing but white screen. Is it repairable or buy new? Thanks

white screen issues can be a loose ribbon cable on either the powerbord or the actual monitor connection if not, try turning them round the other way ,that is if you have taken them off before, if not try reseating the ribbon cable

Mi problema con el monitor no se incendia en absoluto ni luz azul y tampoco la naranja, estaba muerto.
He podido reparar el mio, muchas gracias!! Ademas yo he tenido que puentear el Fusible F1 ya que se daño, este esta a lado del conector de carga se llama: Fusibles de montaje superficial Littelfuse 452 serie NANO2. Espero que le sierva a alguien!

strip down the monitor reseat the cables and resolder the hdmi solder joints sounds simple but well worth a try it worked for me but that after testing the capacitors on it but try my first remedy

@@Cassiebingo Turned out there was a lot simpler solution, my hdmi cable came loose 😂 Which was so obvious it took me like 2-3 days to even check it.
