Very interesting video :D don't you think that, as with many circular processes, there is potential for a transcendance of that movement between Self and ego? Something that could add a dimension to the circular motion and make it a spiral sort of? The circular process would remain, just as part of a greater whole?

Thanks a lot! I think the question here may be “transcendent for what” - the Self certainly presents itself as transcendent for the ego. And the collective background (which is even less personal than the Self - supposedly) is even more transcendent than that. I think the issue that is often overlooked in Jung is that the Self can never really be integrated. The light that the ego creates - no matter how big it is - always casts a shadow. Therefore there is always something left over, something that is not ego - something that is transcendent. Ultimately then, as you say, the spiral is infinite - I fully agree with that.

Hi Florian, great topic and content! Just one technical suggestion for improvement: Your face is extremely light, almost white - as compared to the background. A bit disturbing.

great lecture Dr. Flo......a lot to ponder. for sooo many people life is only about self satisfaction and everyone else be damned. is life itself an individuation process for every single person even if they don't realize it?

Well... I think the "offer" to individuate is always there but the ego closes its eyes to this offer. This is its tyranny. Even in a moment where something "strikes" you in the sense of an actual rupture the ego always seeks to return to "normal" - look at Covid-19 - we witnessed a great "rupture" on a societal and individual level but the question is - what changed in its aftermath (sustainably ; -- e.g. many companies ended up going back to enforcing office work) ? I hope this answers your question :)
