From a silo to the no.10 bunker, glad to see Harriet getting more airtime. Great actor.
And recently Horrible Mummy in Succession
And Black Sails. And Succession. And Ted Lasso. And….
Just watching Silo just now - she's good, they're all very good in it.
Never would have thought to cast her in this role; but she seems marvelous! Looking forward to it.
Weakened world used to love cranking up the volume to maximum on the old Radio Rentals tv and headbanging when the theme tune was on but never watching the boring thing😅
Memories of mum cooking Sunday dinner on the stove, windows all steamed up,stuck in the house because its raining outside.
Waiting for the old man to come back home from the pub
There's two names I thought I'd never see together - 'Steve Coogan IS Brian Walden' !
What next? - 'Jason Statham IS Patrick Moore!'
In... THE ASTRONOMER.
Tonight at nine, on BBC1.
Supposed to take place in 1989, yet looks like they set it in the early 70s.
it's the colour grading and the trailer titles. production design looks '89, if a bit stuffy for the period.
I imagine some of it is set in the 70s, showing how they met etc

Like the theme tune, Weekend World didn't really leave the 70s.
I remember that interview: 'You come over as being someone who one of your backbenchers said is “slightly off her trolley” , authoritarian, domineering, refusing to listen to anybody else.'
[Looking like she's about to handbag him] 'Nonsense, Brian! I am staying my own sweet reasonable self.'
the worst "politican" the UK ever have had
For whatever reason before watching this I thought the title 'Brian and Maggie' would be alluding to the Hillsborough tragedy, from the perspectives of Thatcher and Brian Clough!
Looks fascinating - and Ivan Kaye as Nigel Lawson is the cherry on top. Any news on the international release yet?
The occasional famous politician in a talk show movie.
Ooooh can't wait
Harriet Walter looks nothing like Thatcher in the late 80s.our even sounds like her.
True..and Coogan sounds nothing like Walden...
Be thankful she isnt black
I'm looking forward to that!
Bwian Walden Weekend World, legendewwy. Hope the Weekend World theme tune gets a look-in?
Nantucket Sleighride by Mountain
I can’t see Coogan as Brian Walden at all. That might change if I watch the entire movie.
Great trailer. Any idea of date or time?
This won't be biased at ALL. 😉
Comedians invariably make excellent dramatic actors.
Fantastic casting!
Brian Walden - a magnificent journalist, his kind are long since gone, all traded in their morals for their corporation funding
Well said, there are a few but the editors don't stand up for them so much now. Ian Hislop as editor of Private Eye is one who does stand with investigative journalists and I do respect him but he's one of the few.
Steve Coogan is such a brilliant actor
Looks good!
Now, Mr Frears, when can we expect to see the movie adaptation of “Mr Wilder & Me” we were promised?
Black Sails. Lady boss. Late but welcome.
Steve Coogan needs to stop pretending he’s not Alan.
I see physical resemblance has been abandoned altogether for this.
Walter doesn't sound or move at all like Margaret Thatcher so hopefully I'll get over it in the first few minutes and enjoy the flick.
Frost/Nixon from AliExpress. 😂
Of course Walk would be a Thatcherite.
Who is the woman meant to be?
Thatcher, Thatcher, Milk Snatcher.
@GilleanFreire What did you think of the previous Labour government removing all milk from Secondary schools?? Couldn't make up a childish rhyme with the words Wilson and milk??
@@stevebaker6149 You must be very young, it was the people protesting marching through the streets of London shouting ‘Thatcher, Thatcher, the Milk Snatcher - Out, Out, Out!’
@@GilleanFreire Well, that made a lot of sense!
If the titles weren't there, i wouldn't have guessed thatcher
This doesn't hit the mark for me, the portrayal of Thatcher is off and the set design doesn't feel like 1989.
I'm sure Channel 4 will he balanced and fair 😂😂😂
Why the Dickens would anyone think this is a good subject for a drama. Frost/Nixon was a stretch... c'mon!
Yeah, we neede more Love Island on Benidorm.
Are you seriously trying to promote Thatcher as a decent, understandable, sympathetic human being?
She was all of those things and more. A wonderful human being, great leader and gorgeous woman.
@Commentator-tb8kuYeah, a wonderful human being that took free milk away from schoolchildren…
@Commentator-tb8ku lol
In the mud
Harriet Walter is miscast in this role, far too theatrical.
She's also physically wrong for Thatcher - and way too old. Walter is 74 and Thatcher was still in her 50s when she left office. She actually looks as old as Thatcher did when she died in her late 80s.
MT was 65 in 1990.
Love her but I’m not sure she’s far too old to play Maggie and completely the wrong build. The voice isn’t there. How I wish we could move away from Thatcher.
Agreed - great actress but enough Thatcher. It's still too raw ... the damage she wreaked. Attempts to humanise her just don't work.
My absolute first thought when a certain type of person says "Well, why isn't there a White History Month?" As if they don't have white history coming out of their ears. There are so many great stories out there, so many fascinating figures. How many more movies and TV shows about Margaret Thatcher, Winston Churchill and Queen Elizabeth do people want?
@@josiahscurlock i don't want any - let alone more..
Streep and Gillian set a high bar.
She looks more like Barbara castle
This looks fun, but she can’t really do the voice.
I never knew Brian was a South African Albert Steptoe.
Sorry but both characters woefully poor.
Shood of asked Woy to do Bwian.
I'm an American I still hate Margaret Thatcher get to my relatives my great-great-uncle Charles A Doyle union leader and then a distant cousin Bobby Sands
Walk it off.
He ate nothing
Did Somebody Say JUST EAT
Yawn
looks shite-who cares?
