One of the most iconic lines in a song ever IMO. "You've been cold to me so long, I'm cryin' icicles instead of tears."

When this song came out, we were riding down the road on I-69 in Flint, Michigan. My dad said "Do you know what a Coupe De Ville is?" I didn't, and when he told us kids, I thought "How cool is that? The idea of a Cadillac in a Cracker Jack box!!" And drilling for oil on city streets.. I was blown away.

I was 20 in 1987 but the lyrics of this song still hit me hardest during my teen-to-early 20's and those oh so fragile relationship years. Especially during a break-up with someone who I mistakenly believed was the perfect one for me. It turned out they weren't the "perfect one" for me but that didn't make the heartbreak any easier and certainly didn't help hold back tears while thinking I only had 2-out-of-3 she was looking for.

To me, Meatloaf is doing to the woman, who loves him, what was done to him! When he says, " their was only one woman, that I have ever loved, and that was so many years ago"...etc. Fast forward , years later here's a woman, who loves him completely, and he cannot reciprocate, her love! He never healed, from his true love, not loving him! The first time my late mother, heard this song, she said " Now that's cold "...it was one of her favorite songs! Great reaction. I have Meatloaf's " Bat Out Of Hell" on Cassette, Vinyl, and CD! This is my favoriteeeee song by him!!

Meatloaf's debut album, Bat Out Of Hell, was released in 1977 and has sold over 50 million albums making it one of the best selling debut albums of all time. It has been certified 14X Platinum by RIAA. In 1993, Meatloaf released his 6th studio album, Bat Out Of Hell 2 : Back Into Hell, which spent 2 weeks at #1. I'm sure you noticed, but Meatloaf has incredible range.

More people need to be honest like this in relationships, no game playing. This way they know where you stand and they can decide if they want to stay or leave you. I love, love, love this song and Meatloaf (RIP) kills it! He gets a three outta three from me!

It is most definitely a really beautiful song! The power, the sentimental rhythm, definitely pulls on my heart strings. Kenny Rogers and Lionel Richie can do the same. So can James Ingram with "Just Once".

Jim Steinman (piano) wrote all of the songs on this album. Unfortunately, we lost both of them within a few of months of each other.😭😭
I still have this album on vinyl.
"I know you're lookin' for a ruby in a mountain of rocks,
but there ain't no coupe deVille hiding at the bottom of a crackerjack box".

The twist- in the first part he’s telling a woman these same things-then he’s with the next woman and says the same that was said to him..back to her- cause like he said, “there’s only one girl that he will ever love..and that was so many years ago”- and the cycle continues- 💜👍✌️

My mom used to get hammered drunk and listen to Meatloaf, Bat out of Hell over and over on vinyl. My dad got so mad! LOL. He yelled "go get that fuckin album" I laughed so hard and ran in the other living room (we had 2, one with a door, where she was). I snatched that album up and ran out...a minute later it started up again and my dad got up and she yelled "I've got a back up you asshole!" And locked the door LMAO

Please react to For Crying Out Loud. Like most songs written by Steinman, it's a little long, but holy hell what a song. Meat's vocals on it are powerful.
